Chapter 2 Uncle Li's Secret

In order to take care of Uncle Li, I closed the butcher shop and took him to a large hospital in the county for treatment.

But after looking around, I found that Uncle Li's condition not only did not improve, but worsened.

The hospital couldn't find anything wrong, and Uncle Li's condition got worse.

At night, lying on the bed in a small hotel, I looked at Uncle Li's painful appearance, and my tears wet the pillow.

I hate my own incompetence. I have learned all the knowledge in this crappy book, but I can't even protect Uncle Li.

Maybe it was my sobbing that woke up Uncle Li. He turned over and said to me.

"Chen Xian, don't cry, men don't shed tears lightly."

"We will go home tomorrow and stop watching!"

"No! Uncle Li, there must be a hospital that can cure you." I wiped away my tears and said stubbornly.

Uncle Li sighed, sat up slowly, shook his head and said: "It's useless, this is not an illness, this is retribution!"

"I have killed countless lives in my life and accumulated too much karma. God wants to take me away, and you can't save me!"

"I don't believe it! There must be a way, there must be!" I was unwilling to do this.

Uncle Li patted me on the shoulder and said, "Don't be stubborn, Chen Xian."

"In the eyes of God, people like me are full of sins and cannot be forgiven."

"Perhaps the only thing I have ever done right in my life is to save you."

"As long as you can live well and survive the disaster of being eighteen years old, even if I really leave, I will definitely leave with a smile."

"Don't let me down!"

I nodded heavily and was speechless.

After a while, Uncle Li got out of bed and said he wanted to go outside for some fresh air.

Before leaving, he poured me a glass of water and placed it on the bedside.

"Remember to drink a glass of water before going to bed."

This is what Uncle Li has said to me the most since I was a child.

He said that as a living dead, I lack all five elements.

Before going to bed at night, you must supplement one of these.

Otherwise, it is very easy to attract bad luck to your door.

As the saying goes, form complements form. Among the five elements, replenishing water is the simplest.

This can be regarded as a habit that Uncle Li helped me cultivate since childhood.

But tonight was different. I was so confused that all I could think about was Uncle Li. I wasn't sleepy. I lay on the bed and closed my eyes in a daze.

I don't know how long it took, but I heard a violent cough coming from the corridor of the hotel.

I was worried that Uncle Li was coughing up blood again, so I quickly got out of bed and wanted to call him back.

But just as I walked to the door, a familiar voice came from the corridor.

"You consumptive devil, please speak softly. What if you wake up the child?"

When I heard this sentence, I was stunned on the spot!

There is no other reason than that the person who said this is Uncle Li!

His voice was very natural, without the previous hoarseness and morbidity.

"Harm! Didn't you already feed him water?"

"He is sleeping soundly now. What is there to be afraid of? Ahem..."

Without saying a few words, the man whom Uncle Li called a consumption ghost started coughing violently again.

"Come on! Why did you come to me?" Uncle Li's tone was full of disgust.

The consumptive ghost said: "I'm not looking for you, it's the Wang family."

"They can't wait any longer. You have to bring them over within three days!"

"Three days? What happened? Didn't you agree to wait until he turns eighteen?"

"I don't know about this. Anyway, the Wang family said that he must arrive within three days!"

The corridor was quiet for a long time before Uncle Li said: "Okay, I understand."

The voice fell, and then the sound of footsteps came.

I quickly retreated to the bed, closed my eyes and pretended to sleep.

Uncle Li pushed the door open and walked in, saying suddenly.

"Did you hear what I just said?"

There was no one else in the room, so Uncle Li was obviously asking me this question.

In an instant, my whole heart was in my throat.

I almost subconsciously responded.

Fortunately, reason defeated fear and I did not agree.

After a brief silence, Uncle Li took two steps forward and said again.

"Stop pretending, I know you're awake."

Uncle Li walked to my bed and stopped. I was so nervous that I almost stopped breathing.

Fortunately, the darkness covered up my slight movements, and Uncle Li did not notice anything unusual about me.

After a while, a sigh came, and Uncle Li seemed to be relieved.

He went back to his bed and lay down. As he snored slightly, I felt relieved a little.

Uncle Li actually didn't notice that I was eavesdropping. The two questions he just asked were just his tests of me.

Similarly, Uncle Li is not sick, he is pretending to be sick, but why would he do this?

Could it be that it has something to do with the Wang family that the consumptive ghost mentioned just now?

I thought that within three days, Uncle Li would send me to the Wang family.

My heart can't help but beat wildly!

I didn't sleep all night, so the next day I pretended to have just woken up.

Uncle Li returned to his sickly state.

I helped him check out and leave, arrived at the station, and caught the first shuttle bus back to the village.

I was a little sleepy, so I didn't notice anything unusual at first.

It wasn't until the bus departed that I realized that there were only two passengers on this morning rush hour bus: me and Uncle Li.

"Master, no one is taking the bus this morning?" I asked the driver in my hometown dialect.

At first, the driver didn't answer, so I asked again in Mandarin.

This time he understood: "There will be someone on the road later."

The shuttle bus drivers who drive this line are usually locals and can speak their hometown dialect, but this driver obviously does not!

I don’t know why, maybe it was what happened last night that made me a little nervous.

After I felt something was wrong with the driver, I pulled Uncle Li to get out of the car.

Uncle Li was resting with his eyes closed. He asked me to sit tight and not to cause trouble to the driver.

"I have something to tell you when I get home later!"

Looking at Uncle Li's appearance, I feel like he's explaining his funeral affairs.

"Uncle, why do we have to go home to talk about it?" I asked.

"It's related to the Wang family." Uncle Li said with his eyes closed.

"Chen Xian, I know, you heard everything I said last night."

I didn't say anything and looked at Uncle Li blankly. Uncle Li continued.

"Within three days, you must go to the Wang family to fulfill a promise for me. That matter is related to your life and death."

"I can't remember the specific content. Since I got this strange disease, my memory has been declining day by day."

"Fortunately, I wrote a letter back then and kept it in the house."

"When you go back, find it and you will understand after reading it."

Uncle Li has already said what he said. If I pretend to be confused again, it will seem a bit disrespectful.

"Uncle, how do you know what happened last night?" I asked curiously.

"You forgot to drink the glass of water I gave you."

I suddenly realized that Uncle Li asked again: "You haven't slept all night, have you?"

"Lie down and rest for a while. I'll call you when you get there."

"Yeah." I nodded in agreement.

Now that we have said it, Uncle Li has no intention of hiding it from me.

I sat back in the chair and planned to take a nap.

Unexpectedly, halfway through the journey, there was a sudden violent braking.

In a daze, I was thrown to the ground.

Before I could react, seven or eight people crowded under the car.

These people were armed with sticks and wore black clothes and black trousers. They looked like they were not good-natured people.

They got into the car and smashed it up. The driver was beaten with two sticks and fell into a pool of blood.

I was also stepped on the ground with my feet, unable to move.

I saw two people carrying Uncle Li out.

I shouted excitedly: "Let Uncle Li go!"

As soon as I finished speaking, two sticks fell on my back, causing burning pain.

"Chen Xian! Leave me alone! Protect yourself." Uncle Li shouted at me.

I struggled desperately, anger welling up in my heart, and I violently pushed away the person who stepped on me.

But as soon as I stood up, I received a heavy blow to my abdomen.

Then, sticks rained down on me.

Even though I kill pigs all year round, I am still strong.

But after all, it is difficult for two fists to defeat four hands.

I was defeated again.

The last time was in elementary school.

But the difference is that last time, Uncle Li was standing behind me.

But this time, I couldn't stand behind Uncle Li and protect him.

I was knocked to the ground, a stick fell on my head, and I passed out on the spot.
