Chapter 63 (please read) Returning home from vacation

The autumn harvest is approaching, and the academy has given field holidays to teachers and students.

Chen Ping, who had not seen his parents for a long time, simply packed his bags and set off home on Li Feng's carriage.

I have been away from my parents for many days, and I can’t help but miss them.

When the carriage arrived at Nanxi Village, Chen Ping was dropped off.

He didn't rest as soon as he entered the house. He picked up the sickle on the table, closed the door and ran to the fields.

Chen Duohai and Xiang are working hard in the loess and cannot take care of home for the time being.

It was only when they saw Chen Ping getting off the ground that they discovered that their son had returned home.

Xiang wiped his hands on his short shirt and took out a handkerchief to wipe the sweat from his forehead. He couldn't stop the love in his eyes, "You didn't even say a word when you came back. Why don't you rest at home?"

"My son has no time to live at home. If he comes to help earlier, he can finish the collection earlier, right?"

The few words he said were caught by Mr. Zhou who was passing by.

She was carrying the food box and was going to the fields to deliver meals to Chen Duoguang and his son.

I originally wanted to come here to show off that my son was by my side and that I didn’t have to go to the fields to suffer, but I didn’t expect Chen Ping to come back.

After failing to do so, how could Mrs. Zhou be willing to do so? She raised her voice angrily, "It turns out that Chen Ping is back. What's wrong? Are you about to go back as soon as you get off the ground?"

"Auntie, you know now? It seems like the fields are not busy?"

Chen Ping didn't bother to talk to her, so he provoked her tepidly.

In previous years, after Chen Duohai finished harvesting his fields, he took rhubarb to his uncle's house to help.

It would be great if I could save myself some trouble this year.

When Mrs. Zhou heard this, her face suddenly dropped.

Ignoring Chen Ping, she turned to Xiang and said, "Do you think I'm easy to bully? I've borrowed so much money over the years, but in the end I can't exchange a good word for you?"

There was a hint of crying in his tone, as if he was ready to cry at any time.

The appearance of a figure made her stop talking.

Chen Duoguang, who had been working in the field for a long time but never saw Zhou's figure, appeared next to Chen Duohai at some unknown time.

He said nothing with a dark face, and he didn't know when he was there, let alone whether he heard what he said before.

Seeing that the situation was not good, Zhou felt that she was isolated and helpless, so she ran away with the basket in her arms.

"Uncle..."

Chen Ping also noticed Chen Duoguang's appearance, and he was just about to explain that he didn't mean not to want to help.

But before he could speak, Chen Duoguang waved his hand to stop him.

"I know you just wanted to reply to her." Chen Duoguang's voice was a little dull, "This is her temperament and she can't change it."

Chen Ping and Chen Duohai looked at each other, they should not hear this.

Chen Duohai originally wanted to comfort his elder brother with a few words, but for a while he didn’t know where to start.

Chen Duoguang was not so entangled. He looked at Chen Ping, whom he had not seen for many days, and then smiled, "He is a lot taller! I remember that Chen Jun was also this tall two years ago."

"Yes, Chen Jun has decided to get married this year. I think you will have a nephew in two years."

"Congratulations, uncle."

Chen Ping's congratulations were truly sincere. This was the first time he saw such a happy uncle.

The smile on Chen Duoguang's face deepened. He suddenly thought of something, and then looked at Chen Ping with expectation in his eyes. "Ping'er, you are the only scholar in our family. I will ask you to name your child when the time comes.

, what do you think?"

"I'll do it?"

Why are you picking names again? I am almost becoming a fortune teller.

Chen Ping's eyes widened and he said hesitantly: "Is this okay?"

"Of course! Even though you are young, you are senior. What's wrong with elders naming younger ones?"

Chen Duoguang ignored the Chen and his wife's obstruction and directly made an agreement with Chen Ping.

After finishing his work in the fields, Chen Ping met his cousin Chen Jun on his way back.

After several months of being exposed to wind and sun, he was much darker than he remembered. The two of them just said hello and stopped talking.

Fortunately, her cousin Chen Li, who was following Chen Jun, was still there. She curiously asked Chen Ping how he was doing at the academy.

Chen Pingyan studied and immersed himself in books every day, listened to his teacher's teachings, and even helped the county do something.

But the market in Qingsong Town is really lively.

Looking at Chen Li's curious eyes, Chen Ping described the scene of the market to her.

Chen Li is yearning for it and her eyes are bright.

"Let's go. If you wait any longer, it will be too late." Chen Jun grabbed Chen Li and urged.

Seeing that the two of them wanted to continue chatting, Chen Jun directly interrupted the conversation and left.

Chen Li hesitated for a moment and ran to follow, but always looked back at Chen Ping.

She nodded slightly and said apologetic farewell to Chen Ping silently.

When I got home, my mother was busy doing housework in the house, but my father didn’t know where he had gone.

Chen Ping leaned against the window with a book, reading under the setting sun that had not yet dissipated.

Before I even turned two pages of the book, I heard the sound of cursing and scolding coming from the uncle’s house next door.

That hysterical loud voice sounds like Mr. Zhou.

"I didn't ask you to finish embroidering these handkerchiefs today! How did you do it? And make it look like this? I worked so hard to ask someone to bring silk thread from the city, and you just ruined it like this?!"

"Speak! I let you speak!"

"Why cry, just cry! I'm doing this for your own good! If you don't practice now, who will care about you when you get married?"

"You asked your brother to take you out of the village. You are so childish at this age. You are a loser!"

The sound of things falling to the ground directly attracted Xiang to come out.

She pulled Chen Ping to look up and down distressedly, not caring what was smashed, and asked with concern, "Is there any injury?"

"Mom, where is it?"

Chen Ping pursed his lips to signal Xiang to look next door, while Zhou's yelling was still faintly visible.

Xiang sighed, "Are you trying to teach Chen Li a lesson again? This kind of fuss is not just a day or two."

Six months ago, Chen Li began to learn female celebrities.

Zhou's teachings were strict, but fortunately Chen Li was smart and handy, and she could take on the job of embroidering small handkerchiefs with small patterns, and the shops in the town were happy to accept her.

But this Zhou was not satisfied with her mean nature. Instead, she either beat or scolded her.

It is well known as ---- spurring.

The two were talking about Chen Li, and Chen Duohai walked into the house carrying a piece of meat.

As he walked, he greeted Mr. Xiang with a cheerful face and quickly took it to the kitchen to cook.

Xiang turned around and left, and Chen Duohai quickly told Chen Ping about the situation at home during this period.

"I have found all the herbs that Dr. Zheng wants, but since there are only a few kinds of herbs around here, it is enough for me to go to town twice a month to deliver medicine to Dr. Zheng."

"When I was delivering medicine, I stopped by the academy to find you twice. The concierge said that you had helped the county and that my son was really promising."

It seems that the time was not right and I missed it.

Chen Ping said modestly, "Where can I find it? My son always studies with the teacher."

"That's promising!"

Chen Duohai firmly believes that his son is the best.

"By the way, your mother also took over work at the shop in the town in the past two months, and embroidered some large pieces for sale. Now the family has a lot of income. Just study hard and don't think about other things."
Chen Ping was moved and said, "My father and mother have been worried about my son's study."

"What nonsense are you talking about? Follow the teacher seriously and try to come back with a good reputation. Remember to send a message to your family if you are missing something."

Chen Duohai petted Chen Ping's little head.

After several days of busy work, I finally finished packing the crops in the field.

Chen Duohai took the grain to the village chief's house to pay the grain, leaving Xiang and Chen Ping at home.

Chen Li stood timidly at the door with an embarrassed look on her face. She should have walked over by herself while Zhou was not at home.

When she saw that only Chen Ping was in the courtyard, she asked cautiously with a voice as thin as a mosquito.

"Cousin, is aunt at home?"

"What are you doing standing outside? Come in quickly."

Chen Ping noticed Chen Li's discomfort and quickly stood up to greet her in, "What's the matter?"

He saw that Chen Li was holding a bamboo basket covered with cloth tightly in her hand, and he guessed it.

He took her into the house without asking any more questions.

Xiang was very happy to see Chen Li and enthusiastically asked her to sit down.

She felt sorry for Chen Li before and taught her some embroidery skills in private.

But Zhou also arranged a lot of chores for Chen Li every day, so she didn't have much free time.

Whenever she thinks of this, Xiang can't help but sigh, but there is nothing she can do.

I can only help more with this kind of thing, so every time Chen Li comes, she always responds to requests.

Chen Ping has seen her mother's embroidery work, and she showed her latest achievements two days ago. Its exquisite and complicated appearance is really not easy.

Chen Ping didn't know much about it, but he remembered hearing about the famous double-sided embroidery in his previous life, so he told his mother about it.

When Xiang first heard it, she thought it was a fantasy, but if it could be successfully embroidered on a screen, it would definitely look very beautiful. She planned to study it herself when she has some free time.

Inside the room, Chen Li and Xiang Shi had just exchanged a few words when another person came from outside.

Chen Ping got up and walked out of the house.

I saw my cousin Chen Jun standing anxiously in the courtyard, frequently looking into the room.

"Chen...Chen Li is here?"

When Chen Jun saw Chen Ping coming out, he asked hurriedly with beads of sweat on his nose.

"Yes, is something wrong with being so anxious?"

Chen Jun did not answer, but shouted into the room, "Chen Li, you have to go back, it will be over after you pay the food!"

Chen Li's reply came from the room, and then the brother and sister trotted back home.

Chen Ping froze on the spot, still wondering what the connection between paying food and going home was.

Xiang stepped out and nodded his head, "It's not like you didn't hear Zhou scolding her so harshly before. If she knew that Chen Li had come secretly, she wouldn't be able to live in peace tonight."

Chen Ping suddenly realized, he laughed twice and quickly pulled Xiang to express his loyalty, "My mother is still the best."

"Just bluff me!" Xiang Shi laughed and scolded, "These words are getting more and more incredible. Sooner or later, you will praise me beyond words."

Chen Ping pretended to be sad, "My son is speaking from the bottom of his heart."

It made Xiang unable to stop laughing.

Once the grain payment is over, the field leave will be over soon.

Before Chen Ping left home, Xiang wished he could take all the things at home with him, for fear that his son would suffer hardship in the academy.

Chen Duohai complained, "Why should a boy be so delicate if he can't endure hardship?"

Xiang chose to ignore it and put the same things on the bullock cart.

Chen Ping repeatedly shouted, "Mom, it's enough, it's really enough. If this continues, we will have to move our entire family."

After saying that, he held down the bacon that Chen Duohai wanted to put in the car with one hand, "You keep it at home to eat, why did you bring it to me?"

"We still have it, what are you afraid of?"

Chen Ping pointed at the beams and complained, "I've been watching. Even the poles for hanging bacon on them have been put away. How can there be any left?"

When Chen Duohai saw that he was exposed, he simply pretended to be deaf and dumb, "Why does a kid care so much? Stand aside and wait, it will delay my work."

Okay, now you become a child.

When they tell me that my parents are short-lived, they don't think I am a child.

"Okay, you go into the house, I'll be back after sending Ping'er off."

Chen Duohai explained to Xiang.

Driving Lao Huang's car and setting off slowly, Chen Ping took another look at Nanxi Village, where the autumn harvest had just passed.

Smoke from cooking pots curls up in the distance, morning mist floats on the river, and the cottages and fields are surrounded by mountains and green peaks, just like a fairyland.

Chen Ping smiled, knowing that it was not that the scenery in Nanxi Village had changed, but that his mentality was completely different.

When I left home last time, my parents were still worried about Chen Ping’s academic expenses.

Now not only does Chen Ping have a rough plan for his future, but his parents have also found a way to make money.

Although they can't make a lot of money yet, the family's confidence is much stronger than before.

Just like clearing the clouds and seeing the sun, everything is developing in a better direction.

This is enough!

On the way back to the academy, Lao Huang's strong back rose and fell in sight, and his father's strong arm muscles kept shaking.

Chen Ping could clearly feel that he was trying his best to reduce the bumps of the ox cart.

I slowly fell asleep while rocking.

Chen Duohai turned to look at his sleeping son, and the loving smile on his face became thicker.

Then he seemed to suddenly remember something, and quickly covered Chen Ping with a piece of clothing.
