Chapter 46: Parade

Early the next morning, all the northern nobles were awakened by their servants in advance. As soon as dawn broke, everyone rode horses or took carriages to the military camp a few kilometers away from Winterfell.

"We're here, over there is the newly built Winterfell military camp."

Count Wyman was catching up on his sleep in the carriage. He had not slept long before he was woken up by Count Rickard.

Count Wyman rubbed his eyes and looked through the car window in the direction he was pointing.

I saw a wooden wall composed of sharpened tree trunks, surrounding the military camp, appearing in the field of vision.

From the outside, it can be seen that this military camp is very simple. However, it is built in a flat and vast open space. Judging from its area, it can accommodate at least thousands of soldiers.

"what is that?"

Earl Wiman pointed to a towering dagger-shaped building made of bluestone and yellow mud next to the simple military camp. Compared with the simple military camp next to it, this building was obviously carefully designed and built.

"I don't know. Lord Robb personally presided over the construction. Yesterday I said that as long as he doesn't take the initiative to tell me, I won't ask any more questions."

Earl Rickard scratched his head, shook his head and replied.

"In a short period of time, it must have cost a lot of gold dragons to build a military camp and this building. How many civilians were recruited in total?"

Earl Wyman, who was good at business, was more concerned about the construction cost.

"Well, Lord Robb spent twice the price to recruit commoners. At that time, the commoners in the winter market were rushing like crazy to do the work."

"Twice? Why? Even if the price is lower than half the price, civilians can't refuse!"

After hearing Count Rickard's answer, Count Wyman, who was a little confused, frowned.

"Well, what Lord Robb said at that time was very strange. 'Currency circulation, stimulating domestic demand' seems to be these words. Anyway, I didn't understand it."

Rickard thought for a moment, imitated Robb's tone, and emphasized two words.

When Count Rickard finished speaking, these words that he did not understand made Count Wyman fall into deep thought.

The carriage became quiet because of this topic.

After a while, the carriage team of the northern nobles entered this recently built spacious military camp.

When they arrived at their destination, all the northern nobles dismounted and got off their horses, and looked at the newly built military camp in Winterfell.

This is a standard military camp with a rectangular shape, with one military camp entrance and exit in the north and south directions.

In the east where the rising sun is now, there is a bluestone platform that is as tall as an adult. On both sides of the platform, there are terraced stands similar to those in previous stadiums. There are brand new wooden seats in the stands.

To the west of the military camp are rows of thick military tents arranged neatly.

At this time, the person standing on the high platform to greet him was the commander of the Winterfell archers, Theon Greyjoy.

He greeted all the northern nobles with a smile and enthusiastically guided them into the stands on the left and right sides.

"The military parade begins!"

Seeing that the noble audience had all taken their seats, Xion smiled and announced loudly.

When a soldier standing under the high platform heard the order, he immediately took out a black horn from his arms and blew it suddenly.

Woo!!!

As the horn sounded, more than two thousand fully armed soldiers quickly rushed out of the neat rows of military tents in the west.

They gathered towards the gate of the northern military camp. In a short period of time, more than two thousand people stood in square military formations.

Woo!

The ordering soldiers under the high platform saw that the phalanx of warriors had completed their formation and blew the horns again.

Boom!

In the front row of the spearmen's phalanx, everyone stamped the ends of their spears on the ground and made a neat sound.

Immediately afterwards, they held the spears with both hands, pointed the spear points toward the sky at an angle of 75 degrees, and took neat steps at the same time.

Thump, thump, thump!

More than five hundred spearmen, their armors making the same rhythmic sound and their feet walking in unison, walked from the north gate of the military camp to the south gate.

The northern nobles in the stands were completely dumbfounded at this moment. They had never seen such an orderly army before!

When the last row of pikemen had just passed the stand, the herald soldiers blew their horns again.

Five hundred archers repeated the steps of the pikemen and began to march. The only difference was that they carried their bows and arrows on their right shoulders.

Boom!

After them, as the trumpet sounded, two hundred shield-bearing soldiers took the lead in holding heavy kite shields and marched towards the stands.

Whoosh!

Immediately behind their military formation were a thousand sword-wielding infantrymen with their long swords drawn. The military formations of these two arms also walked towards the stands in uniform and orderly steps.

There were more than 2,000 Winterfell soldiers in total, and no one made a mistake, and the military formations of each branch of the army were maintained quite intact.

When the last row of sword-wielding infantrymen walked past the high platform, the ordering soldiers blew a long horn without giving the northern nobles in the stands a chance to put away their surprised expressions.

Da da da!

The sound of horse hoofbeats came from outside the military camp, gradually becoming stronger from weak to strong.

Rows of heavily armed cavalry entered from the north gate of the military camp. They entered the military camp relatively quickly, but when they passed the high platform, they suddenly reined in their horses and slowed down.

But even with such an operation, from the perspective of the northern nobles in the stands, the rows of cavalry formations were actually still quite intact.

More than 1,300 cavalrymen rode through the high platform one after another.

Arriving at the south gate of the military camp, more than 2,000 infantry archers who had completed their formation lined up in order.

Looking at the soldiers of Winterfell who were completely lined up and standing still, except for the occasional snort of the cavalry and horses, there was no sound.

The northern nobles slowly put away their shocked expressions and looked at each other with their acquaintances. They didn't know how to describe this perfect and neat military parade.

However, the military parade is not over yet!

"Now, the acting lord of the North, Robb Stark, is escorting the criminals.

The Bolton family of the North, Roose Bolton!"

As Xion announced loudly from the high platform, more than two thousand people suddenly shouted in unison: "Lord Robb, Lord Robb!"

As loud shouts rang out, at the south gate of the military camp, Luce, who was guarded by the heavily armed Little Jon, Owen, and Daisy, and detained by the two brothers Ed and Toren, slowly walked into the military camp.

This period of time was torturous for Luce. He no longer had the gentle appearance he had in the past. He looked haggard and was in low spirits. He staggered when walking in shackles.

"Oh my God! What is that?"

With a cry of surprise, everyone saw that behind Luce and the others, a direwolf that looked like a monster was walking slowly.

An ordinary direwolf is no larger than a pony, but it is already taller than an adult war horse in the north.

At this moment, the soft gray wolf fur all over its body was spread out and fluttering in the wind, and its two fangs, which were comparable to daggers, were exposed from the wolf's kiss.

Its slender limbs and well-developed muscle tissue are believed to be quite explosive. The sharp nails on the wolf's claws left deep claw marks on the snow of the military camp.

Most importantly, sitting on its broad wolf's back is a handsome and mighty young man, wearing a lord's casual clothes and a black cloak over his shoulders.

Robb Stark!
