Chapter 85: Brewing

King's Landing, Baelor's Statue Square.

Civilians gradually began to leave the square, leaving behind a lot of garbage and taking away today's shocking news.

On the podium, all the big shots had left, and two golden robes were carrying Ed's body one after the other.

Among the crowd, Arya, whose mouth was tightly covered by Jaqen, kept struggling. But Jaqen, who was a little impatient, lightly pressed Arya's neck and she fell unconscious instantly.

Afterwards, Jaqen held Arya like a father, rested her head on his shoulder, and followed the crowd towards the outside of the square.

Yoren looked at the two golden robes carrying the corpse away, holding the handle of the sword at his waist with his right hand, and followed them.

Two men in gold robes carrying the body walked on the main street for a while, then entered an alley. There was a slaughterhouse at the innermost level of this alley.

Looking at the two gold-robed men entering the alley, Yoren pulled out his sword from his waist and stepped forward quickly.

Snap!

An old hand with wrinkled skin rested on Yoren's left shoulder.

"Brother Night Watch, let me do it!"

Yoren was startled when he was suddenly put on his shoulder. When he turned around, he recognized that this was the captain of the Kingsguard, Barristan the Bold.

When Yoren went to the Hand's Tower to meet Eddard, the two of them had met in the Red Keep.

"But, Ser Barristan, you are the Kingsguard after all, you cannot disobey the king's order!"

"Haha, not anymore. Last night, Cersei and Joffrey called me over privately and said that they would give me a fiefdom by the sea and let me step down as captain of the Kingsguard.

Besides, that cruel and violent Joffrey Hisham is not a real king at all!"

When Barristan heard what he said, he shook his head and said a lot to Yoren as if to vent his dissatisfaction.

"So, you believe what Lord Ed said?"

"Of course, Lord Ed's honor can be questioned by no one in the Seven Kingdoms!"

Barristan nodded, answered, stepped past Yoren, and said without looking back,

"I'll go get his body back. When the time comes, please take it back to Winterfell.

People like him should not be treated like this after death!"

Under Yoren's gaze, Barristan quickly approached the two gold-robed men carrying the corpse.

After a conversation, it was obvious that Barristan had broken down the conversation. With a speed that was completely unbefitting his sixty-year-old age, Barristan lowered the two golden robes to the ground in the blink of an eye.

Seeing Barristan waving to him, Yoren quickly stepped forward and helped carry Eddard's body.

While the two of them were busy carrying Ed's body, they didn't notice that where they were standing just now, a hooded man was watching them silently.

After observing for a while, the hooded man turned around and left. As soon as he reached the end of the alley, he suddenly stopped.

A tall and fat monk in red robes, wearing loose red robes and with the front part of his hair bald, was leaning against the dirty wall of the alley, drinking wine from his own flask.

"What? You knocked me off my horse during the martial arts tournament. Are you sure you can capture me now and claim the reward?"

Thoros from Myr."

"Lord Berry, I am not here to arrest you. Instead, I have received the revelation from my Lord, the Lord of Light, and come to teach you.

After all, the night is dark and everything is dangerous!"

Soros, the red-robed monk, took a big sip of wine, his face flushed, and he drunkenly replied to the hooded man.

Berry put down his hood, walked forward, and said to Thoros with a smile: "Haha, the red god of Essos? Sorry, I believe in the Seven Gods."

Looking at Berry walking past him, Soros took another sip of wine, opened his mouth full of alcohol, and laughed loudly: "Haha, beliefs can be changed. Our Lord is willing to accept anyone who sincerely believes in him.

Believer!"

Berry kept walking forward without looking back, and replied firmly: "Change your faith? Then wait until I'm dead!"

Hearing Berry's rather firm words, Soros smiled and shook his head, followed with unsteady steps.

Yoren rented a carriage on the main street. With Barristan still serving as the Kingsguard, the two of them easily left the Gate of the Gods.

A few kilometers outside the city, they caught up with a temporary team that was escorting criminals from the Red Fort to the Great Wall in the north.

"Hey, Ser Barristan, where are you going next?"

After putting Ed's body into a transport carriage, Yoren let out a long breath, and then asked Barristan.

Upon hearing Yoren's question, Barristan turned to look east and whispered: "Where to go? Maybe... I will go find the real king and die for her!"

"Okay, hope to see you again in the future!"

"goodbye!"

After bidding farewell to Barristan, Yoren led this reserve team of Night Watchmen and headed towards the north without stopping.

This time, there is no influence from Gendry, and there is no scene in the original play where the Lannister knights and Amory Lodge came to hunt him down with their golden robes.

The two golden robes who lost Ed's body returned to the Red Keep and wanted to report the matter to Joffrey, but they were intercepted by James.

Although he was tricked by Ed before his death, James still had respect for him in his heart. He quietly instructed two golden robes to use the corpses of criminals piled up in the Red Keep instead of feeding the dogs, and then handed over to Joffrey.

These two gold cloaks knew Joffrey's cruel character, and since Lord Jaime had spoken, they were happy to avoid punishment, and the matter was quietly wiped away.

When Yoren successfully took Eddard's body northward, Robb was still on the Narrow Sea without knowing anything, riding the wind and waves with the Wind Witch.

Westerland, Casterly Rock.

Tywin and Kevan sat opposite each other in a study, looking at the raven letter in their hands with very serious expressions.

"What are Jaime and Cersei doing in King's Landing? How could Joffrey be allowed to kill Eddard Stark?"

Kevan looked very unhappy and spoke first.

"Let's not discuss what has already happened. Our focus now should be on the North and the Riverlands!"

Tywin shook his head with a stern expression. He did not answer Kevan's complaint, but brought up the main topic that should be discussed.

"When something like this happens, the Tully family and the Stark family have always been one. When they are ready, they will definitely send troops to attack us at the same time."

Kevan nodded and continued following his brother's topic.

"We can't wait for them to attack, Kevan, you will lead fifteen thousand soldiers to Golden Teeth City tomorrow.

Guard the Golden Teeth City and wait for my orders. This place can not only attack the Riverlands at any time, but also prevent them from raiding the Western Territory.

If a war is inevitable, then it must be fought on their territory!"

Tywin pondered for a moment, then directly gave orders to Kevan.

"Yes! What about King's Landing City?"

Kevan agreed and raised another question of his own.

"Write a letter to Cersei and Jaime, asking them to manage King's Landing well, try to be kind to the nobles who are willing to submit, and at least for a short period of time, protect the Iron Throne for me.

Let Clegane return to the West as soon as possible, he will be needed in the war."

Tywin first answered Kevan's question, and then continued with a solemn expression,

"Kevan, this time our Lannister family will either establish a thousand-year dynasty, or the entire family will be wiped out, just like the Targaryens before!

When you march and fight, you must be careful!"

"I will, but...will the rumors about Cersei and Jaime make us lose the support of the people!"

Kevan nodded first, then carefully spoke about the more sensitive topic.

When Tywin heard this, he shook his head without hesitation and denied: "Ed Stark is slandering Cersei and Jaime. It is normal for a dying person to tell lies!"

"But with Ed Stark's reputation, many people will believe even lies!"

"Yes, this is what I am worried about. Those ambitious noble families may follow this lie and covet the Iron Throne!

However, after all, force is more important than anything else in Westeros. As long as Wolf Cub and Old Trout dare to start a war, then we will put their heads on the tip of the spear and let other noble families see.

Isn’t that how Robert sat on the Iron Throne in the first place?”

Eddard's speech in King's Landing before his death spread over time to the homes of nobles of all sizes in Westeros.

Westeros has entered a brief period of calm, but anyone with a slightly sensitive sense of smell can detect that a storm is brewing that is about to sweep across the entire continent.
