Chapter 227 Hase Temple

I paid homage to the Kamakura Great Buddha at Kotoku-in Temple, and for 50 yen per person, I went inside the hollow Buddha to have a look. Naoko and Haixing expressed regret after coming out.

"I told you there is nothing inside."

"But I'm still curious..."

Apart from the Big Buddha, there was nothing else to see here at Kotoku-in. The three of them walked around in a circle and left, going back along the way they came.

When they reached a certain intersection, Naruse grabbed the two of them and turned to the right.

"Is Hasedera over here?"

"Yeah."

The two of them soon saw the sign on the roadside.

"There are so many temples in Kamakura."

"This was the center of Japan a long time ago."

Follow the road at your feet and go straight ahead, which is the gate of Hase-dera Temple.

There is a beautiful pine tree growing diagonally outside the temple gate, with dense needles and lush green leaves.

Next to the pine tree stand two unknown small Buddha statues, with incense burners in front of them and flowers offered by believers next to them.

The three of them knew nothing about Buddhism and couldn't tell whether the two statues were Buddhas or Bodhisattvas. They didn't want to worry about it, so they just worshiped.

We bought the tickets and entered through the side door. Changgu Temple has a history of 1,300 years. The most famous thing is the eleven-faced Guanyin statue enshrined in the Guanyin Hall in the temple. After entering the temple, the three of them went straight to the main hall.

Entering the quiet hall, you can immediately see a golden Bodhisattva statue about ten meters high standing in the deepest part.

The Prime Minister is solemn and compassionate, watching everyone in the hall silently.

Starfish raised his head, "This is Changgu Guanyin..."

The eleven-faced Guanyin of Chang Gu has three faces on the front and three on the left and right, and one on the top of the head and one at the back, just like its name.

The expressions of the eleven faces are also different, which means listening to the different wishes of different believers and rescuing them.

"If one day a Bodhisattva with eleven faces suddenly asked me what I wish for, I would probably be scared to death before I could say anything... Uh-huh--"

Naruse covered Haixing's mouth, and his head swelled when he faced the gazes of the monks and other worshipers next to him.

"Why do you dare to talk nonsense anywhere!" He whispered in her ear, then bowed his head slightly to the monk who was staring at him and smiled, hoping that the other party would not mind the child's nonsense.

"..."

As expected, the monk didn't mind and nodded slightly to him, closing his eyes and smiling.

Naruse quietly breathed a sigh of relief.

However, several elderly worshipers nearby were still looking at them, looking unhappy and mumbling something.

He could understand their dissatisfaction, but he was too lazy to respond.

As long as the monk doesn't drive him out...

My chest suddenly sank.

He lowered his head, and Starfish leaned in his arms. His cheeks and ears were red, and he was already a little unsteady.

Naruse immediately let her go.

"..."

Standing firm, Haixing lowered his head and touched his ears again. After a while, he apologized in a voice so low that it was almost inaudible.

"I'm sorry..."

"You'd better apologize to Bodhisattva first."

Glancing at Changgu Bodhisattva, she clasped her hands together and bowed her head.

"Thank you Bodhisattva...ah, no, I'm sorry."

"..."

Naruse pursed his lower lip and pretended not to hear.

Shangzi came closer, perhaps not wanting to disturb the solemn atmosphere in the palace, she also leaned into his ear and asked softly:

"Isn't it said that Changgu Guanyin is the largest existing wooden statue of Guanyin Buddha? This..."

The warm breath made him itchy.

Naruse glanced at the Guanyin statue, composed himself, and replied in a low voice: "This is the golden body that was later sculpted."

"That's it."

Starfish also came over, "What are you talking about?"

"Telling about Bodhisattvas."

"..."

She looked at the two of them with disbelief on her face.

After a few more bows, the three of them came out of the solemn Guanyin Hall and all breathed a sigh of relief.

"I feel like that monk has been staring at me..."

"Maybe I think you have a connection with Buddha."

"Hey, I don't want to be a nun..."

After coming out of Guanyin Hall, you will see Qingtai a few steps ahead.

Located halfway up the mountain, the view is extremely broad and you can see most of Kamakura City and the connected Yuiga Marina Bay.

"The view here is really good..."

The three of them held on to the fence and looked at it for a while.

"It is said that the eleven-faced Guanyin statue floated from the sea." Naruse said

Both Shangzi and Haixing looked over.

"In Nara more than 1,300 years ago, someone carved two statues of Guanyin Bodhisattva from the same sacred tree."

"One is enshrined in Hase Temple in Nara, and the other was pushed into the sea. I hope that the Bodhisattva will go to the place where he is destined to save suffering and save all living beings."

"Fifteen years later, another Buddha statue appeared in Kanagawa. In order to worship Guanyin Bodhisattva, people at that time built Kamakura Hasedera Temple."

Both of them listened with some rapt attention.

Haixing blinked and looked back at Guanyin Hall.

"Is the statue of Guanyin Bodhisattva enshrined inside now the same one that floated over from Nara at that time?"

Naruse leaned against the guardrail and looked over there, "The legend goes like this."

"It's amazing..."

"So the Bodhisattva has heard the bad words you just said."

"Ugh!...I apologized..."

Shangzi smiled and said, "Stop bullying Haixing."

With a push of his arms, Naruse left from the guardrail.

"Let's go, I'm already very hungry, let's find a place to eat."

"Okay."

The two followed up, and Haixing glanced to the other side, looked away, and quickly looked over again.

"That seems to be a place to eat."

Naruse also took a look and kept walking, "That's Kaikoan, a restaurant that provides vegetarian meals."

"That is to say..."

"It's all vegetarian, no meat."

"Oh!" Haixing quickly followed.

"My mother and I ate at that restaurant once." Naruse said as he walked, "Have you ever had curry rice without meat? It's available there."

"Wow... can we still call it curry without meat?"

"Actually, it tastes pretty good."

"Eh?"

After leaving Jianqingtai and going down the mountain, the three of them went around to the Ksitigarbha Hall to pay homage.

What is enshrined here is the Thousand-Tizo Jizo. Countless Ksitigarbha statues, large and small, are enshrined in the open air. They are so densely packed that it is difficult to take your eyes away.

"..."

Haixing stared blankly, then came back to his senses and looked at Naruse again, but hesitated to speak.

He didn't look at her, and his eyes swept over the mottled and brand-new Jizo Buddha statues one by one, "Just say what you want to say, there are no monks here."

"I want to say... timid children will definitely have nightmares at night if they come here."

Naruse took Naoko and stood two steps aside, put his hands together and bowed.

"This is what she said, it has nothing to do with us..."

Shangzi also bowed his head and bowed.

"Ah." Haixing quickly came over and kept worshiping the Bodhisattva, trying to save something.

Naruse pulled Naoko to the side again.

"Let's stay away from her... Then Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva will only look for her at night, not us."

"Don't be like this!"

Naoko chuckled.

While they were playing around, some more worshipers came up the stairs, and the three of them quickly calmed down.

Haixing kept her hands clasped in front of her chest, not daring to put them down.

"How many Ksitigarbha Bodhisattvas are there?"

"'My avatars fill hundreds of thousands of billions of Ganges sand worlds, each world takes on hundreds of thousands of billions of bodies, and each body saves hundreds of thousands of billions of people.' This is what the Buddhist scriptures say." Naruse said.<

/p>

"Have you read Buddhist scriptures?"

"No. It's just that when I came here for the first time, I was a little scared. After I went back, I looked up the information about Senti Jizo."

Hearing that he had the same reaction when he came over for the first time, Haixing couldn't help but smile.

"Then at night, hundreds of billions of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattvas came to me in my dreams."

"Ah ah ah, stop talking..."

On the grass next to it, there are three statues of Jizo who are close together and are worshiped. They are smiling and naive, and they look much cuter.

The three of them bowed again before leaving Ksitigarbha Hall, watching as they walked.

The clear spring flows loudly from the mountain and flows into the release pond, where huge carp swim continuously.

After leaving Hasedera Temple and walking along the way, there was an Okonomiyaki restaurant at the intersection. After asking Naoko and Haisei for their opinions, Naruse decided to fill his stomach here.

"I have to do it myself."

"It's very simple."
