243 Zhou Zhigang goes home

Shao Jingwen sat at Zhou's house for a while, then chatted with Wang Gang about literature, and left around 8 o'clock.

Wang Gang sent him all the way and sent him out the light letter piece.

After returning home, Wang Gang did not take any time off. He took some money and went to Lao Zhangtou's house next door.

Lao Zhangtou's home is next to Zhou's home, separated only by a narrow path. His home has no yard and only has two earthen houses.

Wang Gang knocked on the door, and the door opened quickly.

"Bingkun is here, come in and sit down." Old Zhangtou saw Wang Gang and welcomed him into the house very enthusiastically.

Lao Zhangtou's home can be described as having only four walls, even worse than the previous Zheng family.

Wang Gang casually pulled up a small bench and sat down, and asked:

"Is Xiaolu's illness feeling better?"

Lao Zhangtou looked bitter, but he still poured a glass of hot water for Wang Gang.

"Xiaolu is still in the hospital, with his mother by his side, and he's getting better already."

Xiaolu is the grandson of Lao Zhangtou. He is just nine years old this year. He contracted meningitis not long ago. Although he was sent to the hospital in time, all his savings were spent on medical treatment.

"Do you have enough money? How about I give you some more?" Wang Gang said.

"That's enough, that's enough. The payment has been made to the hospital, and Xiaolu will pick her up tomorrow. After the Chinese New Year, I will go to the street with you and hand over the house to you." Lao Zhangtou said with a grateful look on his face.

"It's not urgent about the house. If it doesn't work out, you can pay it back later."

In order to pay for his grandson's medical treatment, Lao Zhangtou had to borrow money from everywhere. As a person who only lives in Guangdong, who has spare money?

In the end, Lao Zhangtou borrowed money from Wang Gang, who paid two hundred yuan for the child's medical treatment without saying a word.

Lao Zhangtou wrote an IOU to him.

Later, Xiaolu's illness relapsed and there were too many places to spend money on, so Lao Zhangtou had no choice but to find Wang Gang again.

Wang Gang didn't hesitate and gave all the royalties he had accumulated over the past three years, totaling five hundred yuan, to Lao Zhangtou, asking him to get through the difficulties first.

Xiaolu's illness recovered, but Lao Zhangtou had no choice but to cash in the house to Wang Gang when facing a debt of 500 yuan.

How could Wang Gang want his house? He immediately said that the money could be paid back slowly.

It's just that he underestimated Lao Zhangtou's stubbornness and insisted on giving the house to Wang Gang.

"The house is gone, what are your plans in the future?" Wang Gang asked.

"I still have a shabby house in my hometown in the countryside, which can barely accommodate people." Lao Zhangtou sighed.

In this era, if there is no other choice, city people will never return to the countryside.

Lao Zhangtou is old and does not have a serious employer, so he usually does odd jobs to make ends meet.

He originally had a son, but unfortunately he died unexpectedly, leaving only an orphan and a widowed mother.

Lao Zhangtou's daughter-in-law did not remarry, but she did not have a job. The family of three relied on Lao Zhangtou alone to support their livelihood.

When his grandson fell seriously ill, Lao Zhangtou was finally unable to support himself, so he had no choice but to sell his house to repay the money and go back to his hometown to survive in the countryside.

Her daughter-in-law finally couldn't stand it any longer. She found a man years ago and planned to remarry. Fortunately, the man was willing to accept Zhang Xiaolu and agreed to her remarriage with a child. The only requirement was that the child must be healthy.

"Here are two hundred yuan. You can take it back to your hometown." Wang Gang took out a large stack of unity and handed it to Lao Zhangtou.

"I can't ask for your money anymore." Lao Zhangtou waved his hand quickly.

"This is the final payment for the house." Wang Gang forced the money into Lao Zhangtou's hand.

Lao Zhangtou said: "I know how much my two mud houses are worth. I didn't dare to take the five hundred yuan before, let alone this money."

Wang Gang forced the money into Lao Zhangtou's pocket and said, "My child has just recovered from a serious illness. Use the money to buy some meat."

Lao Zhangtou was moved to tears. Wang just comforted him and left home.

"Bingkun, thank you." Lao Zhangtou said with tears in his eyes as he saw Wang Gang out.

Two hundred yuan may not be a big deal to Wang Gang, but any piece of gold in his space would cost more than two hundred yuan.

But for Lao Zhangtou, this money is life-saving money.

He had already made a plan in his mind. After his wife remarried with her grandson, he would return the house to Wang Gang and then return to his hometown to live out his remaining days.

But with these two hundred yuan, Old Zhangtou had hope of living again.

After Wang Gang returned home, Li Suhua still wondered why he came back so late.

"I just went next door and gave Lao Zhangtou some money."

Li Suhua understood in her heart and said: "Old Zhangtou is really pitiful. He has suffered all his life and is about to get ahead. Unexpectedly, his son has an accident and the white-haired man will give away the black-haired man."

Wang Gang said silently: "Lao Zhangtou's wife plans to raise her children and remarry in the next year."

Li Suhua opened her mouth in surprise, then fell silent again.

"Oh, there is nothing we can do about it. At least his wife and grandson can survive."

Wang Gang sat silently on the kang, took out a book and read it.

There are many people like Lao Zhangtou in the optical film industry. This is originally the poorest and most miserable place in Jichun.

Wang Gang helped Lao Zhangtou, firstly because the two families were old neighbors and had known each other for decades, and secondly, it was just a matter of convenience.

Seven hundred yuan was already Wang Gang's entire savings in the past three years, but he still felt that he wanted to help Lao Zhangtou, just for peace of mind.

The next day, Li Suhua picked up her son early and clamored to go to the train station to wait for Zhou Zhigang.

"Mom, my dad's train is in the afternoon, so we went there early just to wait."

"What if the train arrives early?" Li Suhua said impatiently, "You still have to borrow a bicycle, which is a waste of time coming back and forth."

Wang Gang got up helplessly and said: "I made an agreement with National Day yesterday and he will deliver the bicycle later."

"Where is Zheng Juan?" Li Suhua asked.

"She will be here at about ten o'clock. We have plenty of time." Wang Gang put on his clothes and said.

While talking, there was a knock on the door. Li Suhua opened it and saw that it was Zheng Juan.

"Why did you come so early?" Wang Gang asked in surprise when he saw Zheng Juan.

"I can't sleep, so come here early." Zheng Juan said anxiously.

Wang Gang was speechless and could only seize the time to wash up, then go to Xiao Guoqing's house and push the bicycle over.

Zheng Juan rode Xiao Guoqing's car, and Wang Gang rode his own car with his wife. It was not even ten o'clock when they arrived at the train station.

The three of them waited at the train station for almost four hours before Zhou Zhigang's train arrived.

"His dad." Li Suhua couldn't control her tears when she saw Zhou Zhigang.

Zhou Zhigang was carrying his luggage, and when he heard Li Suhua's voice, he looked back and forth. When he finally found the person, he burst into tears.

"Honey."

After three years, the old couple hugged each other again. Wang Gang and Zheng Juan stood aside and did not disturb them.

"His father, you have become darker and thinner." Li Suhua touched Zhou Zhigang's rough old face and said distressedly.

"You have gained weight and your complexion has become rosy. That boy Bingkun has taken good care of you." Zhou Zhigang looked at his wife carefully and felt very happy.

"Dad, if you find out that Mom has lost weight, are you going to beat me up?" Wang Gang stepped forward and interrupted.

"You bastard, your temper has not changed." Zhou Zhigang punched Wang Gang on the shoulder and cursed with a smile.

Zhou Zhigang's eyes turned to Zheng Juan again.

"You must be Zheng Juan! Bingkun always mentions you in his letters." Zhou Zhigang felt very satisfied when he saw Zheng Juan's appearance and temperament.

"Hello, uncle." Zheng Juan greeted politely but a little stiffly.

"Don't be nervous." Zhou Zhigang laughed and said, "I don't eat people."

Zheng Juan felt much relieved when she saw that Zhou Zhigang could joke.

"The most important purpose of my coming back this time is your marriage to Bingkun." Zhou Zhigang punched Wang Gang again.

"You bastard, why did you let this girl wait for so long?"

Wang Gang smiled and said: "Dad, you are the head of the family. How could I dare to get married if you haven't come back?"

Zhou Zhigang said angrily: "That's nonsense. If I don't come back, will you let me down Zheng Juan?"

Wang Gang smiled and said: "Of course not."

"Okay, everyone, don't talk here, go home quickly!" Li Suhua said with a smile.

"Yes, go home." Zhou Zhigang threw his luggage on Wang Gang, then took his wife's hand and left.

"Dad, you are really good at it. You can even say something when the luggage is thrown over!" Wang Gang hugged the luggage and complained.

Zheng Juan smiled and wanted to help Wang Gang with his luggage, but he refused directly.

Along the way, Zhou Zhigang took Li Suhua with him on his bicycle, and Wang Gang took Zheng Juan and her luggage, and returned home happily.

After entering the house, Zhou Zhigang sighed: "It's still comfortable at home."

Li Suhua dusted Zhou Zhigang with a towel and said, "You must be tired! Get on the kang and rest for a while."

Zhou Zhigang sat cross-legged on the kang, touched his wife's hand and said, "We haven't seen you for three years. I want to talk to you properly."

Li Suhua asked: "When will I stay this time?"

Zhou Zhigang said: "The train on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year."

Li Suhua made some calculations in her mind and said sadly: "I'll only stay here for seven days!"

Zhou Zhigang sighed and said: "The tasks in the mountain city are heavy, so they gave me ten days of leave during the Chinese New Year."

Li Suhua said: "Bingyi and his partner will come back tomorrow, and I don't know how many days they can stay."

Zhou Zhigang sighed after hearing this: "Bingyi won't be going home this year. He sent me a letter a few days ago, saying that he got married to Hao Dongmei in the Corps and couldn't come back to celebrate the New Year."

"Ah!" Li Suhua said in surprise: "Why didn't he tell me?"

Zhou Zhigang said: "Didn't I come back to celebrate the New Year with you? Bingyi's marriage just happened to be over, and then it's Bingkun's turn."

Li Suhua said: "The same goes for Bingyi. He doesn't talk about such a big thing as getting married in advance, just like Ronger."

When Zhou Zhigang heard this, his face immediately turned dark.

"Don't mention Zhou Rong to me, I don't have a shameless daughter."
