590 rematch

Wang Gang stood on the starting line, surrounded by the top track and field athletes in the country. Everyone looked solemn, but Wang Gang seemed out of place.

He was too relaxed, as if he wasn't here to compete.

There were no spectators in the arena, only a few IAAF referees and staff, and some reporters with cameras.

The coaches were sitting outside the court and became angry when they saw Wang Gang's careless look. They felt that he was ignoring all his instructions.

Time passed by, and all the athletes leaned down and took the starting position.

Wang Gang was the last one to squat down. After adjusting his posture, his eyes gradually became firmer.

The coaches' palms were all sweaty, and they were so nervous that they didn't even dare to breathe.

There was a gunshot.

Everyone rushed out, especially the capital representatives from the third lane, who took the lead.

The coaches stood up excitedly and found that Wang Gang didn't listen to him. He used all his strength from the beginning to bite the capital representative.

Wang Gang seemed to turn into a gust of wind, running faster and faster. After thirty meters, he directly surpassed the representative of the capital and became the leader.

The nervous backs of the coaches were soaked with sweat, but he didn't notice it at all.

Wang Gang actually got faster and faster. He showed no intention of slowing down after the middle stage. Instead, he ran faster and faster, gradually opening up a distance of three lengths from the second place.

In the last 20 meters, Wang Gang's speed accelerated again, as if he turned into a bolt of lightning and rushed towards the finish line.

The coaches' faces showed the joy of victory.

But then the smiles of the coaches froze on their faces.

What did he see!

Wang Gang, who was running at top speed, turned his head and glanced behind him. At this time, he was less than five meters away from the finish line, and the first place was already waving to him.

The coaches' hearts were already in their throats. They were so afraid of Wang Gang who would turn around to look back that he stumbled and fell in front of the finish line.

Fortunately, the accident did not happen. Wang Gang's speed dropped significantly in the last five meters, but he still crossed the finish line first.

The second place was still more than five meters away from him.

The coaches turned their heads sharply and looked at the podium, waiting for the referee to announce Wang Gang's score.

The waiting time was excruciating, especially for the IAAF referee, who seemed to have seen something unbelievable and had to double-check with his colleagues.

The coaches felt that Wang Gang's results should not be too bad, after all, he was more than five meters ahead of the second place.

In the end, when the coaches heard the results announced by the referee, they were all stunned.

"9 seconds 91!"

Wang Gang was not surprised when he heard his results. He was in good condition today, and with the tailwind, it was no surprise that his results were good.

Considering that there was still a 200-meter race in the afternoon, Wang Gang slowly walked to the lounge.

The coaches came over with their faces flushed and laughed loudly: "Second top player, you ran within 9 seconds. Do you know what this means?"

Of course Wang Gang knew that this result would be extremely impressive even twenty years later.

"You currently hold the record for the fastest 100 meters in the country, no, you should be the fastest in the world. You have created a new world record."

So far, the fastest record for 100 meters is the world record of 9.95 seconds set by American athlete Jim Haynes at the 1968 Laos Mexico Olympics.

Now being easily defeated by Wang Gang, the coaches felt as if they had eaten ginseng fruit, and every pore in their body was opened.

But he was not happy for long. An IAAF staff member came to the lounge.

"What, rematch! Why?" the coaches gritted their teeth.

"Because the timer used in the competition failed, all the results of the previous competition were cancelled, and a rematch was required." The IAAF representative, an American, explained to the coaches in English.

The coaches blushed and shouted excitedly: "The timer is malfunctioning, how is it possible?"

Anyone with a discerning eye knows that any timer failure is simply an excuse for the Athletics Federation. They simply do not believe that an Asian can break the world record.

Wang Gang grabbed the coaches who were still trying to reason, and asked the people from the Athletics Federation in English with a gloomy face:

"Can you guarantee that the timer used next time will not malfunction?"

The staff member said arrogantly: "We have replaced it with the latest timer to ensure that there will be no more problems."

"When does the game start?" Wang Gang asked.

"Two hours later," the staff member said.

"What?" The coaches widened their eyes and said, "The 200-meter race will be held in three hours. Doesn't it mean that after running 100 meters, we will soon participate in the 200-meter race again? The athletes have too little rest time.

"

There will be two races today, a 100-meter race in the morning and a 200-meter race in the afternoon. There will be about a five-hour rest period in the middle to allow the athletes to recover.

Now that the competition has been adjusted, Wang Gang needs to run three races a day, with very short rest periods, which greatly affects his performance.

"This is the decision of the Athletics Federation." The staff was only responsible for informing and would not listen to the coaches' complaints. After saying this, they left the lounge.

The coaches kicked him against the wall.

"These ghosts just refuse to admit that you are better than their athletes."

Wang Gang patted the coaches on the shoulders and said relaxedly: "Forget it, this is just a qualifying match anyway, just win."

The coaches turned their heads in surprise and said, "Sometimes I wonder if you are a young man under the age of seventeen."

Wang Gang shrugged and said: "Instead of having a red-faced debate, it is better to fill the mouths of those IAAF staff with results."

The coaches sighed: "We still have no say!"

Wang Gang didn't comment, just sat down cross-legged, adjusted his breathing, and took the time to regain his strength.

The 100-meter run actually consumes a lot of physical energy. Fortunately, Wang Gang just relaxed his strength in the last 20 meters.

When he stood on the starting line again, Wang Gang found that the eyes of all the athletes looking at him had changed.

It was a friendly and respectful look.

Each of the athletes standing here is older than Wang Gang, but Wang Gang has gained the respect of these seniors with his actual results.

Wang Gang squatted down and prepared to start again. This time, there was a hint of unwillingness and impulsiveness in Wang Gang's eyes.

The behavior of the Athletics Federation will certainly make Wang Gang angry, but he also knows that it is useless to say anything. It is better to compete again and slap those Americans in the face.

The gunfire rang out again, and Wang Gang rushed out like lightning. This time he rushed faster, harder, and more urgently, and ran directly to the first one.

The capital representative in the third lane started much slower than usual because he had obviously not recovered from the physical exertion from the last race. However, he was still very surprised when he saw Wang Gang's back and desperately wanted to catch up.

Wang Gang ran faster and faster, and the gap with the second place quickly widened. This time, not to mention the coaches, even the people from the IAAF stood up, and only the fast runner was in their eyes.

Wang Gang crossed the finish line again and ran for a while before finally stopping. This time he used all his strength without reservation.

Wang Gang and the coaches looked at the referee at the same time, waiting for the result of the second game.

The referee from the Athletics Federation looked nervous and repeatedly checked the results with two other colleagues and even checked the timer.

A few minutes later, the referee still gave Wang Gang's score.

"9 seconds 89!"

Wang Gang raised his hands and jumped up, cheering loudly. Other athletes also ran over to congratulate him.

The coaches were also very happy, but this time they suppressed their excitement and ran over to communicate with the people from the Athletics Federation.

If the Athletics Federation uses equipment failure as an excuse to cancel Wang Gang's results this time, he will have to go to the Athletics Federation headquarters to complain even if he pays for a plane ticket out of his own pocket.

Fortunately, this time the Athletics Federation recognized Wang Gang's first-place result, but because it was a qualifying round, Wang Gang's result could not be included in the world record.

An hour later, Wang Gang stepped onto the field again and participated in the 200-meter race. This time, because his physical strength had not recovered, he could no longer break the record. However, he still won first place and obtained a spot to participate in the Asian team trials.

The World Cup Track and Field Championships are organized as teams. There are nine teams in total, including the United States team, one team each for the European Cup champions and runners-up, and one team for each of the five continents, selected by the continental athletics federation.

Among them, the host country hosting the competition has its own team, with a total of nine teams.

Each team in each event of the cup competition is limited to one person or one team (relay event). The total score of the top eight teams is calculated as follows: the first place in an individual event or relay event gets 8 points, the second place gets 7 points, and so on.

The only track and field competitions Wang Gang signed up for were the men's 100m and 200m. It wasn't that he didn't want to sign up for a few more events, but the coaches thought he was young and this competition focused on accumulated experience, so they didn't sign up for more.

The coaches are almost feeling regretful now. If they had known that Wang Gang was such a monster, he should have signed up for more projects.

You must know that the more achievements Wang Gang achieves in international competitions, the more powerful he will be, and he will also be able to gain political achievements.

Next, Wang Gang needs to go to Bangzi Country to participate in the Asian team trials and compete with the best track and field athletes in Asia.
