Chapter 283

After returning home, the first thing Chen Jinjun did was to visit Butler Teng, who was locked in the guest room.

When Chen Jinjun walked in, Butler Teng was holding his chin and looking out the window.

Chen Jinjun took off the leather gloves on his hands and walked to sit opposite him.

"What are you looking at?" Chen Jinjun asked him pretending to be casual.

It was hot inside the room, and there was mist on the windows. Chen Jinjun followed Butler Teng's line of sight and found some strange characters on the windows.

Chen Jinjun narrowed his eyes and stared at it twice.

Butler Teng glanced at Chen Jinjun and saw Chen Jinjun looking at the characters he had written on the window. His expression changed and he suddenly raised his hand to wipe away the traces of those characters.

Seeing his reaction so violently, Chen Jinjun raised his eyebrows and secretly remembered the characters he just saw in his heart.

"The boss is here." Butler Teng said calmly, as if he was not surprised that Chen Jinjun would come to see him.

Chen Jinjun also looked out the window at the stacked roofs and asked casually: "How many years has it been since Butler Teng left home?"

After asking this question, Chen Jinjun felt a trace of confusion in Butler Teng's eyes when he looked at him: "Why does my boss ask this?"

Chen Jinjun looked at Butler Teng with an innocent face: "I'm just curious. I have been following Dou Zhun for so many years. During the Chinese New Year, I even helped Dou Zhun handle his affairs. I haven't returned home yet."

"Go home?" Butler Teng lowered his head, with a hint of mockery on his lips, "I can't go home."

"Oh? Do you don't want to go back, or you can't go back, or Mr. Teng has no home?" Chen Jinjun smiled meaningfully.

Butler Teng sighed: "What my boss said is quite interesting."

Chen Jinjun smiled: "No way, I just remembered that when Sheriff Dou first arrived in Rongcheng, he ransacked a house on charges of collaborating with the enemy. What a coincidence, that house was the Teng family."

Butler Teng looked at Chen Jinjun sideways: "My boss, you have something else to say."

Chen Jinjun shook his head slightly and continued to look at the place on the window that had just been wiped by Butler Teng: "It's strange to say that you obviously killed the enemy of your whole family, but you still want to do things for the enemy?"

Butler Teng looked at Chen Jinjun and his eyes gradually became serious: "Have you checked me?"

He was obviously a little nervous, and the hand holding the tea cup was slightly firm, and his nails were tinged with white.

Chen Jinjun noticed this and knew that he had mentioned the loopholes in his life experience.

"Butler Fuji doesn't look like he's from Rongcheng."

After saying this, Chen Jinjun's eyes fell on the pastry plate on the table.

Butler Teng didn't know why Chen Jinjun looked at the pastry plate, but he still felt some crisis coming.

"Mr. Teng doesn't seem to like eating crab roe cakes. I asked them to remove some for you. Mr. Teng has eaten all the glutinous rice and mochi in it. It seems that he likes it. I asked them to prepare some more for you."

The slightly raised corners of Chen Jinjun's mouth had a profound meaning, which made Butler Teng, who was sitting opposite her, feel nervous.

"It's just that my mouth feels sour today and I always want to eat something sweet."

As he spoke, Butler Teng picked up a piece of crab cake and put it into his mouth in front of Chen Jinjun.

Chen Jinjun lazily raised his eyelids and stared directly at his expression.

Butler Teng chewed the crab roe cake in his mouth and felt that he was not used to having the crab roe on his tongue.

Chen Jinjun looked at him quietly, his bright eyes seeming to understand everything.

This inevitably made Butler Teng even more nervous. He chewed it twice in a hurry, then mixed it with tea and swallowed it.

"This crab roe cake was made by Master Bai An in the imperial kitchen back then. What do you think of the taste, Mr. Teng?"

As Chen Jinjun spoke, he filled his teacup with tea and pushed the plate with crab cakes in front of him.

Butler Teng tried hard to suppress the discomfort in his stomach, and forced himself to show a look of liking it: "It tastes really good, and it is worthy of the royal chef's skills."

Hearing this, Chen Jinjun showed a look of surprise: "Really? Since Mr. Teng likes it, I will ask them to prepare more for you, just short of those glutinous rice, mochi and other things that are not appetizing to you.

I have a bad stomach."

After finishing speaking, Chen Jinjun stood up and walked out without even looking at Butler Teng.

Chen Jinjun hurried to the study, picked up a pen, and imitated the characters written by Butler Teng on the window based on his memory on the paper.

"Please, Hall Master Lei, please go to the dock and carve this on a wooden board so that Miss Huang can see which country the characters are from."

Lei Yishan took the paper from Chen Jinjun's hand and nodded.

Chen Jinjun remembered something again: "I asked Xu Sheng on the way if he had found anything."

Lei Yishan folded the paper, put it in his arms and went out immediately.

Chen Jinjun was thinking about something and walking a little absent-mindedly.

"What's wrong?"

A deep voice suddenly came from behind Chen Jinjun.

She recognized Huo Tingyu's voice and didn't look back: "I'm wondering what the identity of Butler Teng is."

Huo Tingyu followed Chen Jinjun step by step: "Do you suspect that he is not from Rongcheng?"

Chen Jinjun said softly: "I suspect there is an ulterior secret between him and Dou Zhun."

Huo Tingyu was silent. This was something he didn't expect, but if Chen Jinjun said this, she must have a point.

"Why?" Huo Tingyu was also a little curious as to why Chen Jinjun said this.

As Chen Jinjun went up the stairs, he told Huo Tingyu his car guess.

"If he is really the orphan of the Teng family, then why does he still follow Dou Zhun? It's not like he wants to repay evil with kindness."

"Furthermore, the Tang family asked for an account from the police station. Why did Dou Zhun grant it to him without saying anything?"

Having said this, Chen Jinjun turned back and looked at Huo Tingyu who was following behind him.

Huo Tingyu straightened up and looked face to face with Chen Jinjun: "What if Dou Zhun is just here for the first time and doesn't dare to provoke the aristocratic family? Or maybe Dou Zhun doesn't like the Teng family's small money?"

He carefully raised doubts and helped Chen Jinjun eliminate the loopholes.

Chen Jinjun immediately shook his head: "Impossible. When Dou Zhun first came to Rongcheng, he only had a batch of gold that his wife had brought out with her life. He was investigated because of gold. It is impossible to use gold to pay off debts openly.

.”

"As for the aristocratic family..." Chen Jinjun shook his head in disapproval, "In Dou Zhun's eyes, how could he possibly value the aristocratic family of the previous dynasty?"

Seeing that Chen Jinjun was just standing on the stairs talking to him, Dou Zhun picked up Chen Jinjun and took her to the rooftop.

Huo Tingyu said as he walked: "Then, if Dou Zhun needs this money so much, why did he agree to Tang De and give him half of the Teng family's wealth?"

Chen Jinjun let Huo Tingyu carry him up the stairs, holding Huo Tingyu's neck loosely with both arms, and narrowed his eyes thoughtfully: "That's why I feel something is strange, but it's a bit... to calm things down."

While talking, Huo Tingyu had already carried Chen Jinjun to the terrace. It was cold outside, so he held Chen Jinjun and sat on the rocking chair covered with fur.

"Let the matter be settled? Didn't I say that the Teng family is a collaborator with the enemy?" Huo Tingyu grabbed the big cloak on the side and wrapped it tightly around Chen Jinjun.

"Collaborating with the enemy..." Chen Jinjun murmured thoughtfully in Huo Tingyu's arms.

Then, Chen Jinjun suddenly widened his eyes: "What if this Butler Teng is from another country?"
