Chapter 4 Jack the Ripper

"Have you thought about it?" Claire suddenly panicked, "[The Book of Eternal Life] is a banned book, and there is no second book. That means that after you choose this book, you will be alone in your life.

to survive.”

"Alone? Aren't you also immortal?" Ahs asked with some confusion.

"I, I'm not the kind of guy who just looks for someone to sign a contract." Claire blushed and pushed away Ahes' hand, "If you really want to sign a contract with me, at least find a book or a forbidden book to sign the contract first.

Let me use it too."

"Don't I have the [Book of Ashes] in my body?"

"Who wants that kind of thing? If you accidentally touch it, you will die, and there is a demon living in the body." Claire shook her head, "If you want to find it, just look for something normal."

"But I don't have money now, so I can't buy any popular or banned books."

"Follow me." Claire jumped down from the chair, held up her skirt with both hands, and ran quickly towards the underground library. Ahes had no choice but to follow him first.

"Well, these are some banned books or high-end books." After arriving at the underground library, Claire pointed to a bookshelf and said, "If you want to choose, choose the ones here."

"Let me ask, what is the specific content of that trial?" Ahs asked while choosing.

"Everyone's trial is different. Generally, the content of the book is formulated based on the trialer. Perhaps, you can still see things from your original world?"

"That's right." Ahs nodded and pulled out a black book with [Book of Mist] written on it.

"I want to choose this."

"Banned books, you are really brave." Claire nodded, "Put a drop of your blood on it."

Ahes hesitated for a moment, then reluctantly bit his finger and dripped a drop of blood on it.

"It really hurts. I really don't know how those people on TV managed to bite off their fingers without expression and put their fingerprints on some contract." Ahs thought as he covered the wound on his finger.

The Book of Mist emitted a little black light, and opened it on its own initiative, and the papers inside began to be flipped through automatically.

"I wish you good luck." Claire said before Ahes could understand. The next second, Ahes' vision went dark and he lost consciousness.

When Ahes opened his eyes again, he was standing on a street. It was already dark. The street lights next to him attracted many mosquitoes. Ahes subconsciously used his hands to drive them away, but found that the wounds on his hands had disappeared. Carefully,

At first glance, I saw that I was wearing a black cloak, a top hat on my head, and a revolver on my waist. It was a brand new revolver, completely different from my own.

"It seems that the trial has begun. It's so sudden." Ahes looked around. The environment here is actually similar to the environment in Ahes' world. The British-style buildings and the walls are all painted gray.

Paint, giving it a steampunk vibe.

Just when Ahes was still thinking about the content of the trial, a woman's scream interrupted Ahes' thoughts. He quickly ran towards the source of the sound. Ahes discovered that the sound seemed to come from the building behind him.

It was coming from a hotel. Ahes noticed that the hotel sign was in English, which meant that this was indeed a trial created by the book based on him. Although it was not in Chinese, it was at least in his original world.

language.

Without any time to think, Ahes immediately rushed into the hotel.

"Police, police? Excuse me..." The person at the front desk of the hotel opened his mouth in surprise when he saw Ahes.

"Am I wearing a police uniform? That's just right." Ahs thought to himself.

"What was that scream just now? Didn't you hear it?"

"I heard it. It seems to be from the cleaning staff on the second floor, but my job prevents me from leaving my post."

"Stupid." Ahs shook his head and walked quickly up the stairs.

Arriving on the second floor, a woman wearing cleaning clothes fell to the ground and looked at an open room with a horrified look on her face.

"What's wrong?" Other travelers in the hotel were also attracted by the sound.

"Go back, go back!" Ahs scolded and walked to the cleaning staff, "What's wrong?"

"Dead, dead people, there are dead people in the house." The cleaning staff trembled and pointed to the inside of the room.

Ahes frowned, suppressing the fear in his heart and walked into the house.

Arriving at the house, Ahes took the lead in touching the pocket of his cloak. After feeling the gloves, Ahes immediately put them on and turned on the light switch in the room.

On the bed in the room, a woman was stabbed to death. She had countless stab wounds on her body. Her face was swollen from the beatings. The stab wounds on her neck were very dense and fatal. Her abdomen was also cut open.

.

Although Ahes felt disgusted when he saw this scene, because he had often been exposed to some heavy-handed film and television works and comics before, such scenes would not make Ahes vomit.

It seems that this is the content of the trial.

"Call the police first," Ahes said to the cleaning staff, "I need reinforcements."

"I, I understand." The cleaning staff nodded and ran out quickly.

While the cleaning staff rushed to call the police, Ahes observed the room and the hotel corridor.

This place seems to be relatively backward. There is no such thing as surveillance. It is impossible to find the murderer by relying on surveillance. We can only wait for people from the police station to collect the body for autopsy, and wait for the autopsy report to come out before reasoning about the murderer.

Ahes walked to the body again. The smell of blood continued to stimulate Ahes' sense of smell, making Ahes feel more and more nauseated. After covering his mouth and nose, Ahes discovered something seemed to be written on the bed sheet next to the victim.

He gently pushed her hand away, and Ahes found that the numbers 6, 7, and 8 were crookedly written in blood on it.

"678, what does this mean? Is it the number of the room?" Ahs thought, and walked out of the room. He found that the victim was in room No. 623, and room 678 was at the end of the corridor.

Arriving at the door of room 678, Ahes knocked on the door, but no one answered.

"Room 678? No one has been staying there. It's an empty room." After asking the front desk staff, the front desk staff shook his head and said.

"Tsk, damn it, it really isn't that simple." Ahs thought as he clicked his tongue.

At this time, the sound of a car was heard outside the hotel, and a group of people wearing the same clothes as himself walked in.

"Chief Gardner." A policeman saluted.

"Am I still the police chief? That's amazing," Ahs thought as he responded.

"The victim is in room 623 on the second floor." Ahes said as he walked towards the second floor.

When he came to the room, the policeman took one look at the body and sighed.

"It's that guy again."

"What?"

"Jack the Ripper," the policeman said, "This is already the sixth victim. He was stabbed to death and disemboweled like this every time."

Hearing the word Jack the Ripper, Ahs's heart trembled subconsciously.

This trial is probably not the real Jack the Ripper, but just a forged person with the same identity. But even so, Jack the Ripper is still an unsolved case. Even if he is a fake, the difficulty should not be low.

Where to go.

After taking photos of the scene, the body was taken away.

"Does this 678 refer to room 678?" The policeman muttered, looking at the photo.

"Probably not. I asked the people at the hotel. Room 678 is available." Ahes shook his head and said, "Anyway, let's go back and check her network first and see if she has interacted with anyone recently."

"Well, I guess it's still the same as before." The policeman sighed again and said, "This murderer seems to commit crimes randomly, and there is no connection between the murders. We won't be able to catch him if this continues."

"Sure enough, the method of committing the crime is the same as that of the real Jack the Ripper, but since this is a trial, at least there must be a way for me to pass. The information left by this victim should be related to Jack." Ahs thought to himself.

After returning to the police station, the policeman handed him a cigarette.

"I just asked someone to check. The victim's name is Mary Kelly. Mary is a bartender. She has a husband and a son, but she divorced her husband last month. She also has her own house.

At 9120 Eddos Street, but for some unknown reason, she has been staying in the hotel these days." After lighting a cigarette for Eddos, the policeman looked at the report and said.

"Anyway, we have to find her ex-husband first." Ahes took a deep breath to relieve his nervousness, "Do you know why they divorced?"

"It's not clear yet."

"Okay, before the autopsy report comes out, let's go investigate the people around her." Ahs said, walking to the car.

"Shall I drive?" he asked.

"Of course, uh, I'm a little tired." Ahes said, but actually he didn't know how to drive at all.

He was not suspicious and got directly into the driver's seat, while Ahes got into the co-pilot.

"By the way, that...Officer Moulton." Ahes glanced at the police officer certificate he put aside and said, "Did Jack the Ripper send any letters?"

In the original history, Jack the Ripper sent three provocative letters to the local police station.

"Letter? No." Moulton shook his head. "To be honest, we don't have any information about him so far. We haven't been able to collect his fingerprints or body fluids every time we go to the crime scene. Although

We posted his wanted warrant on the street, but it had no effect. Instead, a lot of pranksters called the police station and said they were Jack the Ripper. Haha, it was just for fun."
