Chapter six hundred and sixty first broken pot

Claude swung the ax and struck hard at the barbed wire. It must be said that the ax was easier to use than the bayonet. As long as he struck it accurately, he could cut off a section of the barbed wire.

The only thing you need to pay attention to is to try not to move too much, because the Russian army's firepower is aimed at the line of the barbed wire fence, and you may be shot if you expose even half of your body.

However, Claude was very careful. He lowered his body and exposed only one arm to cut the wire. Without a sharpshooter, there was really nothing he could do.

He cut off several sections of the wire in three strokes, five divided by two, and although people still couldn't get through, he at least saw some hope.

The regiment leader Gabriel, who was hiding behind to observe the battle with a telescope, laughed excitedly: "I knew they could do it, let Bertrand speed up and rush forward!"

But the people around him rolled their eyes because just a few seconds ago Gabriel was yelling.

It's useless to scold Bertrand, scold Claude and Lucien for being too cowardly, anyway, they'll scold whatever they catch, they'll just be completely pissed off, okay?

But who made him the leader? Here he is the King of Heaven, so naturally I will do whatever I say!

Not to mention Gabriel's poor performance, back to Claude, as he cut more and more wires, it was inevitable that he would be targeted by the Russian army.

The volley of guns scattered dust in front of him, almost making him dare not raise his head. What was even worse was that there was a pig teammate Lucien beside him urging him to hurry up.

What do you call this?

Finally he became impatient and roared: "Why are you howling? I want you to come soon!"

Lucien really dared to come, but seeing Claude's face looking unkind, he replied sarcastically: "It's the company commander asking you to hurry up, I'm just conveying..."

Claude rolled his eyes at him angrily, but he didn't say anything. He just concentrated on dodging the bullets and hacking at the barbed wire.

After just "dilly-dallying" for more than ten minutes, he finally made a dog hole that was barely big enough for a person to get through.

Lucien was about to drill a hole, but Claude stopped him. Instead, he turned and shouted to Bertrand:

"Company Commander, you can go over, let's continue to open the hole and let the brothers come up!"

Bertrand didn't think much about it. Later, the head coach urged him to hurry up. After finally opening the way, he rushed.

Suddenly he raised his arms and shouted: "Go ahead! Brothers, victory belongs to France!"

Lucien was not happy at this point. He asked with a grimace: "What a great opportunity to receive awards for meritorious service! How can you give it to others?"

Claude ignored him and rolled directly to a position more than ten meters away from the hole to hide. Judging from his posture, he neither planned to rush forward nor continue to open the hole, and was ready to fish.

Lucien was stunned and asked: "What do you mean?"

Claude snorted coldly: "If you want to die, I won't stop you!"

Lucien exclaimed: "Is there still a trap?!"

Claude nodded solemnly. If what he expected was true, the Russians behind the barbed wire definitely had back-ups. How could they let them pass so easily?

Sure enough, when one after another French soldiers struggled to cross the barbed wire fence, they were blown up into the sky before they could take a few steps.

Apparently there is a minefield behind the barbed wire!

It’s just that the French didn’t know otherwise, so when they were either killed by a hail of bullets or blown to pieces, fear once again defeated their courage, and they retreated like a tide at a speed ten times faster than they were advancing.

"Asshole, what are you doing? Bertrand, why did you retreat without authorization and forget my order? Or are you saying that you don't want to be the acting company commander anymore? If you don't want to do it, then get out of here as soon as possible, there are many people who want to do it!"

Bertrand quickly explained: "Captain, you know that I always respect your orders and always carry out your orders meticulously..."

"But...but Baudouin said that they are so spoiled that they don't listen to orders at all. Please give me another chance, and I will prove that I am the most suitable for this position!"

Gabriel snorted, obviously not optimistic about Bertrand, which naturally made him even more nervous, and he quickly continued to make amends:

"Captain, you have also seen that under my command today, we have broken through those damn obstacles. No one has been able to do it before. This fully demonstrates my ability!"

"It's just that we had bad luck this morning, so we lost everything. If you give me a chance, I won't let you down!"

Gabriel seemed to have remembered something, and after a while he said: "Okay, then I will give you another chance, don't let me down again, Bertrand!"

Bertrand was naturally grateful for Dade's repeated assurances, but his face changed when he returned to the company.

He cursed all the soldiers, including Claude and Lucien, and said that the soldiers were all cowards, fools and idiots. Only he, the company commander, was working hard to control them, otherwise they would have been brutally killed.

The Russians killed them all.

"What crazy things is this idiot talking about!" Lucien was unhappy. In his opinion, although the whole company's performance was indeed a stretch, Claude's performance was really uninspiring, and it made no sense to call Claude stupid.

"Aren't all officers like this?" Claude said disapprovingly.

Lucien murmured: "He was not like this before! He turned his back and refused to recognize anyone after becoming an official. What the hell!"

What Lucien didn't expect was that Bertrand would find trouble with him.

"Lucien, what have you been mumbling! Did you listen to what I said? Do you think that you are good because you are big? You were the one who was planning to escape before the battle, right? If the military police hadn't arrived, wouldn't you have already been defeated?

You still have the nerve to whisper, you and Claude are the most cowardly and useless in the whole company!"

Lucien hated being called cowardly and courageous, especially since Bertrand himself was unreasonable this time. He was naturally furious and retorted without thinking:

"Yes, we are the stupidest and most useless, but how come you, a smart person, are helpless with the barbed wire? In the end, you have to find a way for Claude, the most cowardly and useless, to help you. I think you, a smart person, can't do anything more than that!

"

Bertrand never expected that Lucien would dare to confront him and do so so harshly that it would embarrass him.

Suddenly he became furious and roared: "What did you say!"

Lucien also took the risk and retorted arrogantly: "I said you are nothing more than that. Besides hiding behind and ordering us to die, what else will you do? You have never thought about how to break through the barbed wire, just like a stupid bird.

You know how to say stupid things! If you had any brains, we wouldn't have killed so many people!"

Lucien's throat was completely relieved. Anyway, he risked his life and broke the pot, and it didn't matter even if he was turned to a military court...
