Chapter 205 Journey to Jiazhou

After autumn, the temperature difference between day and night in Jiazhou is large.

Fu Yanlin put on Wen Sheng's coat and took her hand into the taxi.

The car was speeding on the highway, and the journey was quiet. The once familiar scenery became unfamiliar after the baptism of time.

Returning to the old place, Wen Sheng felt as if he had lived a different life.

"Nervous?" Fu Yanlin put his arms around Wen Sheng's waist, lowered his head and kissed her cheek and said, "Don't worry, my grandma is the most loving and will not eat people."

Wen Sheng burst into laughter and said, "Classmate Fu, tell me what kind of person your grandmother is?"

Fu Yanlin thought for a while, and the corners of his lips couldn't help but raise, "My grandmother is quite powerful, smart, capable, and hardworking in running the house. When I was a child, I often got into trouble, and she could chase me for several kilometers with a cane. She was very good at cooking and cooking.

The beef noodles are even better. She used to run a noodle shop, and it was not easy for me to grow up alone."

Grandma was a very high-spirited person. She knew that her daughter was a mistress of a wealthy family, but she never spent a penny of the money she sent back. It was only when that incident happened later that she had no choice but to ask her daughter to come forward and find a solution.

"Grandma must love you very much." Wen Sheng smiled lightly.

Fu Yanlin shook his head helplessly, "I am a devil in the eyes of my grandmother. I have never done anything serious since I was a child. Every time I come back, she dislikes me in every possible way."

The grandmother Fu Yanlin described was a little different from what Wen Sheng imagined.

No matter what, there is no grandma who doesn’t love her grandson, and she can’t wait to bring the best in the world to him.

Just like Wenting Shu.

Even though his family was not rich when he was a child, Wen Tingshu devoted all his love to Wen Sheng and responded to her requests. He taught his daughter to be diligent, independent, and grateful since she was a child. Until now, she still remembers the happy time when she sat on the back of her father's bicycle and followed the instructions.
The taxi finally stopped in front of a small road in the old town.

Fu Yanlin paid the fare and got off the bus first to pick up his luggage. "Then I have to walk on my own. The car can't get in."

"Okay." Wen Sheng looked at the winding stone path in front of her and disappeared into the night, feeling a bit of intimacy in her heart.

Jiazhou is a famous water town. There are many green brick roads like this built along both sides of the river, which are antique. Wen Sheng lived in the old city when he was a child, and there are similar buildings.

Later, on the eve of Wen Sheng's graduation from University, the area was bought and demolished by a well-known developer with a large sum of money. It is said that it developed into an area integrating commercial and residential areas and became a new landmark of Jiazhou.

This is one of the reasons why Wen Sheng never returned to Jiazhou after graduation.

Things are man-made, and the only remaining memories of my youth are lost in time along with the overthrown old house.

"The road is slippery, hold my hand." Fu Yanlin held the suitcase with one hand and stretched his other hand towards Wen Sheng.

The dim light and shadow of the street lamp fell on the man's body, dragging out a long shadow. Half of his face was hidden in the darkness, and the thin facial lines seemed to be carefully carved by God.

He wore black casual pants and a shirt and stood against the wind, just like the uninhibited and freedom-loving boss in Hong Kong movies.

"If you haven't seen enough handsome guys, you can go back to bed and watch later." Fu Yanlin raised a smirk on his lips, "I promise you'll see enough."

Wen Sheng couldn't stand it when he drove when he had a disagreement.

"Let's go. It's too late. If grandma falls asleep, she will be woken up."

After walking for about ten minutes from where they got off the car, Fu Yanlin took Wen Sheng to an old single-family house at the end of the alley. A small and exquisite lotus lantern hung on the entrance door, emitting a weak light in the darkness.

, like a beacon that can illuminate people’s return home.

White orchids are planted in the yard, and the night breeze blows gently, sending wisps of fragrance to your nostrils.

Fu Yanlin put down his suitcase and knocked on the door. "Grandma..."

"I'm back!"

"If you don't open the door, your grandson will die of cold outside."

Fu Yanlin's magnetic voice echoed in the quiet alley, giving Wen Sheng an indescribable warmth.

Not long after, the wooden door in the yard was pushed open. A thin old man with gray hair stuck his head out.

The old man stared at Fu Yanlin again and again, and after confirming that it was his grandson, he scolded him. "You bastard, why are you knocking on the door in the middle of the night? You are just happy to wake up the neighbors, right?"

"I haven't inherited your loud voice." Fu Yanlin raised his eyebrows and smiled.

Grandma slapped Fu Yanlin on the head and said, "I haven't been home all year long, and you talk nonsense to me when you come back. Do you want to piss me off, you brat?"

"Can you give me some face? My girlfriend is here." Fu Yanlin turned around and pointed at Wen Sheng.

"Hello, grandma, my name is Wen Sheng." Wen Sheng took the initiative to say hello.

Only then did grandma notice Wen Sheng's presence and looked carefully from head to toe. There was a flash of surprise in her eyes, and she quickly pretended to be nonchalant and said, "It's cold outside, let's talk inside."

After saying that, she entered the house first.

Fu Yanlin took Wen Sheng's hand and walked inside, "Grandma has a sharp mouth, a cold face and a warm heart."

Wen Sheng finally understood who Fu Yanlin inherited his character from.

Although the house is a bit old, it is kept in good order, and a piece of land is specially set aside in the corner to grow vegetables.

As soon as they entered the house, grandma immediately ordered Fu Yanlin to work, "Send the suitcase upstairs first, don't put it in the way. The stair light is broken, please remember to repair it later."

After Fu Yanlin entered the house, he was in a particularly relaxed state. While unpacking his luggage, he said, "Grandma, I want to eat the beef noodles you made. Add two braised eggs and a spoonful of the chili sauce you made yourself."

"Don't tell me in advance when you come back. There is nothing at home, so just wait until you are hungry." Grandma glanced at Fu Yanlin.

Fu Yanlin chuckled, "Don't I want to give you a surprise?"

"There was such a big commotion in the middle of the night, it's almost scary." Grandma looked back at Wen Sheng, and her tone was naturally gentler, "By the way, girl, what was your name just now?"

"Wen Sheng, you can also call me Ah Sheng." Wen Sheng replied.

Grandma suddenly understood and said to herself, "Wen Sheng, Ah Sheng... you go to the living room and sit for a while, and I'll go to the kitchen and make you a bowl of noodles."

"Let me help you." Wen Sheng followed her grandmother into the kitchen.

Grandma worked quickly. She put on her apron and worked hard for a while, and the aroma of food could be heard. There were really few ingredients left at home, so she simply cooked two bowls of tomato and egg noodles, and did not forget to ask Wen Sheng, "Do you want some green onions and coriander?"

"Eat."

Soon the two bowls of tomato and egg noodles were out of the pot, and Wen Sheng took the initiative to help carry them out.

Grandma poured two glasses of water and handed one to Wen Sheng, "Eat it while it's hot, don't worry about that brat."

She didn't eat much on the plane, so Wen Sheng was hungry now, so she took the chopsticks and started eating the noodles. As she ate, she felt two eyes on her, and when she looked up, she found her grandma staring at her.

"Grandma, is my face dirty?" Wen Sheng reached out and touched her cheek.

Grandma coughed lightly, "No."

After a while, she said with emotion, "You used to be in Jiazhou No. 1 Middle School, right?"

"Yes, Fu Yanlin and I were classmates." Wen Sheng answered obediently.

Grandma looked at Wen Sheng with a darker look in her eyes, thought for a moment and said, "I've seen your photos."

It's a one-inch ID photo with a red background, tucked into Fu Yanlin's Xinhua Dictionary.
