Chapter 12 Ji County

Jixian County is very far away from our Lujiazhuang. It takes six days to travel by horse carriage day and night.

Along the way, Liu Langzhong always urged me to drink the decoction in the water bag. Every time I drank it, I felt better.

On the evening of the sixth day, when we were passing by the Long Road in Ji County, we found that the mountain road here collapsed, blocking the way, and there were many people digging soil.

Liu Langzhong and I also went to help, and heard from those people that the mountains and soil beside the road collapsed due to heavy rain a few days ago, and a team of people welcoming the bride were directly buried underneath.

It took some time to clear the road.

I watched with my own eyes a bride dressed in red being dug out of the soil, but after she was dug out, I heard a scream from the people around her.

It turned out to be the bride, her face was dripping with blood, as if her skin had been stripped off.

"Let's go." Liu Langzhong sighed, shook his head repeatedly, motioned me not to look, and then helped me get into the carriage.

On the evening of the eighth day, we finally arrived at Jixian County. Liu Langzhong held a long letter in his hand, which was given to him by his grandma. It contained his father's address and a message for him.

I took the letter and asked people along the street.

"This is really lively." I couldn't help but sigh as I looked at the carriages coming and going on the street and the small stalls on the street.

In the village, as soon as the sun sets, everyone should go back to have dinner and rest, but the children here are still buying candied haws on the street, and the shouts of the vendors are endless.

Liu Langzhong asked many people, and finally drove a carriage to the house where his father lived.

This is from the street to the end of the street, and it is obviously much deserted here.

"Lu Ji Coffin Shop?" I looked at the plaque on the door of this house and couldn't help but be startled.

Liu Langzhong was also stunned and muttered: "Why did you open a coffin shop?"

Grandma has said before that our family's morality has been damaged because of her becoming a goddess, and future generations must treat illnesses and save people, which will bring many blessings.

Dad also said a long time ago that he opened a pharmacy in Jixian County.

Why is it now a coffin shop?

"Knock knock knock!"

Before I could figure it out, Liu Langzhong had already knocked on the door.

I knocked on the door for a long time, but no one came to open it. Liu Langzhong turned around and said to me, "Is it possible that you are not at home?"

"There seems to be movement." I vaguely heard footsteps coming from inside.

Then, with a "creak" sound, the door of the coffin shop was opened.

A slightly stooped man appeared in front of us. When he walked towards us, his steps were staggering and he looked like a lame man.

Is this my father? Seeing that he was lame on one leg, I guessed that he should be my father.

When he walked up to us, I saw his appearance clearly. His face was a bit long, he had a goatee, and he had thick eyebrows and slanted eyes. He looked nothing like Grandma.

Before, I heard that grandma was also very beautiful when she was young, and no woman in Lujiazhuang can compare with her.

"Didn't you see the sign at the door? No business for seven days!" His voice was very rough, which made people feel uncomfortable.

"Dad!" I opened my mouth and called out.

We haven't seen each other for many years, and he and I are like strangers. If we were walking in the market, we wouldn't be able to recognize each other.

When he heard me shouting like this, he was stunned for a moment, then frowned and looked me over.

"Fu Sheng, this is your daughter, Miao Yatou! Also, I am the sixth child!" Liu Langzhong smiled at his father.

Dad looked at Liu Langzhong again, and his eyes gradually became calm again.

He did not invite us in, but asked very indifferently: "What are you doing here?"

From his tone, I could tell that he didn't want to see us, which made my originally worried heart instantly cool down.
