Chapter 1: Supporting the spirit to return home

On the 22nd day of the twelfth lunar month in the twelfth year of Hongyuan in the Wu Dynasty, after untold hardships, the coffin of Mr. Yao from the Yao Family Winery finally arrived from the capital to his hometown, Qixian County, Qingzhou.

Who would have thought that the man in the coffin was still running a very popular restaurant and wine shop half a year ago.

Because he missed his eldest son making a living in the capital, he handed over the winery to his second son. He took his attendant Liu Rui and went to the capital in simple clothes.

The eldest son took him to taste the dishes in the eight major restaurants and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the capital. After he was satisfied, who would have expected that the old man would drive westward.

Less than three months after the father and son were reunited, they were separated forever. Yao Qingshan, the elder Yao, was heartbroken. He closed his shop in the capital and returned to his hometown with his wife and daughter.

This journey was not peaceful. First, he encountered mountain bandits who robbed him, and then a domestic slave betrayed his master, which made Yao Qingshan exhausted.

Tao Huansheng, the guard who was invited on the way, looked at the house that the eldest daughter of the Yao family called "a wealthy family."

There is a three-entry courtyard with two black painted doors. The word "Yao Mansion" on them is not very clear. Only two stone lions stand in front of the door, which is quite majestic.

The eldest daughter of the Yao family, Yao Mengying, also got out of the car, with white lanterns hanging under the eaves. Apparently the old house was already preparing for the funeral.

Looking at the people in front of her who were busy with their own thoughts, Mengying felt mixed emotions in her heart.

It is said that death is like a lamp going out, but who would have expected that the Lord of Hell confiscated her. When the Tengu eclipsed the sun and the yin and yang were in chaos, he sent her back, and she returned to the age of eleven.

Perhaps there is God’s will in the dark, and God will not bless those who do evil things.

Now that she is back, the first thing she has to do is to avenge her previous life for killing her father and seizing the family.

Killing with a dull knife is fun!

She wanted to repay him with the same method, so that they could also taste what it was like to have their wives separated and their children to be homeless.

*

Half an hour later, Mrs. Yao's step-sibling, Mrs. Yin, was welcomed out of the door, supported by her two daughters-in-law and surrounded by her grandchildren.

Mrs. Yin saw Mrs. Yao's coffin, passed her eldest son and daughter-in-law who were saluting her, and started crying while holding the hearse.

"Old Master, why did you leave? What will I do if you leave! Please take me away with you. I won't live anymore." As he spoke, he bent down and was about to hit the coffin.

Fortunately, the second daughter-in-law, Mrs. Liu, and the third daughter-in-law, Ms. Qi, were following behind. The old lady was pulled back just as her head touched the side of the coffin.

The second daughter-in-law cried and persuaded: "What the old man worried about most during his lifetime was this family. Madam, you can't let it go..."

The third daughter-in-law also covered her face with a handkerchief and cried. Her eyes kept looking towards Mrs. Yao. There was jealousy and unwillingness in her eyes.

The new maid Hongying and Qingluo whispered: "This old lady already knew that the old man passed away, why are you seeking death now?"

Qingluo glared at her and whispered: "Keep your voice down, be careful!"

Hongying stuck out her tongue, not daring to speak anymore.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law cried together, and Mr. Yao San, who came after him, rushed over again, crying: "Dad, my dad..."

Mr. Yao San is slightly chubby and has a black mole on his chin. There are a few black hairs on the mole. When he cries, the black hairs tremble, which is very funny.

Hongying didn't understand the rules when she first arrived. If Qingluo hadn't pinched her, she almost laughed out loud.

The second master, Yao Qingjiang, and the third master, Yao Qingqiao, are the sons of the stepmother Yin. They are both half a head shorter than the elder Yao and have darker skin. The second master Yao is five years younger than the elder Yao. Now he has a big belly and looks like

He is older than Mr. Yao.

The second master Yao was still calm, and he bowed his head to the elder Yao: "Brother, I haven't seen you for five years, but you are back. It must not be easy to carry your father's hearse all the way, right?"

After hearing these heartfelt words, Master Yao's eyes turned red. He hurriedly helped the second master up, wanting to tell his younger brother about the hardships along the way.

Mengying saw that Mr. Yao was moved, and hurriedly came over and knelt down to greet the second master: "Mengying has met my second uncle."

Hearing this, Mr. Yao turned around and helped his niece up, "Oh, this is girl Ying. We haven't seen each other for three years, and now she has become a grown-up girl. It's really a transformation of a girl."

"Second uncle, I'm so impressed. My grandfather's coffin has been bumpy all the way. Now it's finally home. Please place it as soon as possible."

"Yes, yes, brother, we will talk about what happened on the road when we have time. The coffin has been set up, and I will arrange for people to carry dad's coffin in."

After speaking, Mr. Yao Er turned around to arrange the manpower.

But after a quarter of an hour, Mr. Yao Er turned to Mr. Yao again and asked: "Brother, why didn't you see Butler Song?"

"They..."

As soon as Mr. Yao started talking, Mengying picked him up and said, "The house in the capital needs someone to take care of it. They are staying in the capital."

Mr. Yao Er nodded doubtfully: "That's it", turned around and went to make arrangements again.

Mengying glanced at Master Yao and said two words with her lips. Master Yao understood clearly that it was "bet".

Mr. Yao nodded reluctantly and turned to look at the hearse.

Mengying let out a long breath and gave her various instructions, but she was such a stupid father that she almost showed her nakedness when they first met.

Mrs. Yao was not idle over there, she was holding her son's hand and wiping away tears.

This is Mrs. Yao's son, Yao Chengyao, Yao Mengying's younger brother. He is the second eldest son in the three-bedroom Yao family. Because he is studying at Zhengyang Academy in Qingzhou, he did not go to the capital with Mrs. Yao. The last time he saw her was when he visited his parents in Beijing a year ago.<

"I haven't seen you for a year. Brother Yao, you have grown a lot taller and lost a lot of weight."

"My mother has also lost her income. It will be hard for you to have food and sleep in the open all the way."

Yao Chengyao also had red circles in his eyes. Although he has entered the academy, mother and son are connected and his longing for his mother has never stopped.

"No, almost..." After saying this, she thought of her daughter's words and paused, "This is not the place to talk. Mother will talk to you in detail after your grandfather's funeral."

The warm words between mother and son were heard in Mengying's ears and burned in her heart.

This is like mother and son, myself and my mother, why can't we do this?

In his previous life, the most intimate conversation his mother had with him was when his mother was planning to arrange his marriage.

Mengying turned her head away. When she turned back, Yao Chengyao was already standing in front of her, bowing her head and saluting, "Chengyao has met my sister."

Mengying looked at her younger brother who was one year younger than her. At just ten years old, he was already polite and had the appearance of a humble gentleman.

She also respects herself as the eldest sister, but when compared with other siblings, she always feels that there is something between her and her younger brother.

"Brother Yao has become sensible." Mengying stretched out her hand to touch her brother's head, but then retracted it. This was not the younger brother she was when she was in a downturn in her previous life; now Yao Chengyao is the treasure in her father's palm and the eyeball of her mother, and she is just a poor person.

The favored eldest sister.

"Sister, I must be very tired after a long journey. I have arranged for my servants to clean the room. Sister, please go and have a rest." Yao Chengyao said respectfully, but his tone was distant.

"Okay", Mengying nodded, and took Qingluo and Hongying to Dongkuayuan.

Mr. Yao was the first to get married. Mr. Yao felt sorry for his eldest son who had lost his mother since childhood, so he built a three-entry courtyard for him next to the Yao family's old house.

Although it is not as big as the old house, it is good that it is a single family.

Afraid of making people suspicious, Mengying asked Tao and the other three to change into the clothes of her servants in advance, and they were also arranged to go to Dongkua Yard.

Tao Huansheng and his two fat and thin brothers followed the Yao family around the screen wall with the word "Fu" and were arranged in the west wing of the outer courtyard.

There are two rooms in the west wing. Tao Huansheng lives in one, and the fat and thin brothers live in another. Each room has an inside and an outside. In the outside room there is a fire kang with a kang table, and a landscape painting and calligraphy hanging on the wall. In the inside room there is a bed.

It seems that this is a guest room specially prepared for guests, and the fat and thin people are arguing over who sleeps on the bed and who sleeps on the kang.

"You always snore at night. You sleep on the bed inside and I sleep on the kang." The thin man said.

"It's like you don't snore." Fatty also likes to sleep on the fire bed.

"But the boss said that as long as you snore, the village will be shaken by you."

"That was once upon a time..."

*

Let's talk about Mengying's place. After entering the hanging flower door, passing through the hand-painted corridor, and entering the back room of the third courtyard, the three rooms on the left are her residence.

As Yao Chengyao said, it had indeed been cleaned and the earthworms had been burnt. The room was warm. Qingluo hurriedly took off Mengying's cloak.

Mengying touched her soft bed and quilt, feeling filled with emotions.

Memories of past lives come flooding back... It’s really hard to look back.

Mengying asked Qingluo to arrange a place for Hongying, and she lay down on the bed and closed her eyes to rest.

*

Mrs. Yao said goodbye to her son, and was welcomed in by Mrs. Hu, an old servant who had been looking after the house in Qixian County.

"We haven't seen each other for three years. Not only has Madam's appearance not changed, but she seems to be even better than before. It is true that the capital has a good environment for people."

Mrs. Hu has been serving Mrs. Yao for many years and is deeply trusted by Mrs. Yao. She was unable to go to Beijing because her daughter gave birth, so she has been guarding this house.

Mrs. Yao proudly stroked her temples and said, "Well, this capital city is so good at beauty-beautifying things.

That rose oil and pearl ointment are really good things. I even brought some for you. You can try them later and keep them and you will look five years younger."

Mrs. Hu waved her hand, "Don't waste that good thing. It's useless even if I rub it on my old face."

While the master and servant were talking, they entered the hanging flower door and entered the main room.
