Chapter 394 The aging Great Wall

The battle lasted from dark to late at night. The black dragon's participation in the battle gave the defenders of Castle Black a precious opportunity to rest. The night watchmen who turned the winch were changed again and again. The current group was the knights of the north. They shouted chants with trembling hands.

Holding the winch with both hands and shoulders, several comrades finally came to take over the work before they lost their strength.

Bread, dried meat, chocolate and hot water were packed in thick fur baskets and passed one by one to the defenders on the Great Wall.

"Stop the distribution! Everyone get off the Great Wall! Commander-in-Chief Bunyan ordered us to get off the Great Wall!" A messenger ran past the winch.

"Go down to the Great Wall? Aren't you going to defend it?" Rickard Karstark, with his white beard and lowered chest and still vigorous movements, asked his son beside him.

"I agree with Bunyan's order. The few trebuchets on the Great Wall have been destroyed, and we don't have many people. It's not worth fighting for the lives of the living and the dead!" Harion Ka

Stark has a beard and his face is darkened by smoke. At night, only his eyes and teeth can be seen when talking.

His favorite cloak with the sun embroidered on it was burned until only the part close to the shoulders was left. The belt buckle on the black shoulder armor was also burned by the fire and could only be held on by hand.

Going down the Great Wall is much easier. The winch is reserved for the wounded, and the soldiers with intact hands and feet can line up and go down the zigzag stairs.

"The Great Wall must not be thrown away. This is the ancestral motto of our northerners!" The knights of the Karstark family beside Old Rickard gathered around with shovels, wanting to continue to follow the old lord to put out the fire.

His father's idea was right, and so was Bunyan's. The only person who could persuade his stubborn father now was Duke Eddard. Seeing the soldiers walking off the Great Wall, Hallion looked around anxiously, and finally waited for Eddard.

.

"Why don't you get down yet? It won't be long before the corpses gather to attack again." Ed looked at Old Rickard and his men stopping at the winch and probably knew what he was thinking.

The section of the Great Wall defended by the Stark family did not have the help of black dragons, and the attacks were all defended by magicians. Robb tried his best to save the lives of most of the family's knights, but half of Eddard's shoulder-length hair was still burned off.

"Isn't this what city defense battles are all about? We can't retreat like this!" Old Rickard saw Ed's appearance and didn't say that he was a coward, but he still insisted on his own ideas.

Ed: "This is an order from the Commander-in-Chief of the Night Watch. The Northern Army must listen to him first on the Great Wall."

"Bunyan is your biological brother!" Old Rickard yelled.

At this time, the black dragon flew back from outside the Great Wall and quickly passed over everyone's heads. Its claws were still grabbing a few people. Sansa, who was dressed in white and wearing a mask, was easy to recognize. She also nodded towards Ed.

"There are no cowards in the Stark family. Even my sister went out of the Great Wall to fight the White Walkers." Robb next to Eddard said at this time.

Old Rickard smiled: "You personally supervise the construction of defensive positions in the Moat of Cailin in the south. Are you going to abandon not only the Great Wall, but also Winterfell? Ser Robb!"

"Count Rickard, the Great Wall was built by our Stark family's ancestors. The last person who wants to give up the Great Wall is our Stark family!" Robb walked up to Rickard and said to the knights of the Karstark family.

:

"Both Count Rickard and Benyan made the right decision. But this is a war between the dead and the living. We don't need to worry about the gains and losses of several cities, and we don't want to see our former brothers turn into ghouls in future battlefields.

, what we want is victory in the entire war! Victory for the living!"

"The North belongs to the living!" Harion Karstark shouted in agreement, raising his arms.

"The North belongs to the living!"

The younger generation of knights all admired Robb, and they all shouted in unison.

"This kind of war is different from the past. We don't need to compete with the dead to compete for chivalry and glory. Survival is more important. Come on, Count Rickard, lead your people and we will go down the Great Wall together." Robb looked back at his father Ed.

At one glance, after seeing Ed nodding, he pulled old Rickard and walked up the stairs together.

The stubborn old father was finally persuaded to leave by Robb. Hallion breathed a sigh of relief. He leaned on the metal frame of the winch to rest and watched the soldiers descending the Great Wall. When he saw a small girl, he took the initiative to get close to her.

: "How is your sister Sansa?"

"Are you Hallion of the Karstark family?" Arya looked at the big, dirty man in front of her and guessed based on his voice.

"Haha, it's me!" Hallion wiped the black dirt on his face with his hands several times, and finally he could see his face clearly.

Arya walked down the stairs side by side with him: "What? I gave up on proposing marriage when I heard that Sansa's hands were chopped off. I tell you it's too late to regret it now. Sansa already has a sweetheart."

Hallion quickly explained: "No, no, you misunderstood. The reason why I gave up was because the war was coming. I wanted to perform meritorious service on the battlefield before proposing marriage."

Arya laughed: "Haha, just wait, I guarantee that her children will be born next year!"

"But I heard that Sansa is not engaged to anyone?" Hallion did not give up, feeling that he still had hope.

"You have to ask King Renly about this!" After Arya left a message, she climbed over the railing and quickly jumped down the winding stairs.

"King?" Arya said casually, but the honest Hallion believed it, his eyebrows were furrowed and his face was tangled. He thought that Sansa was an earl with land in Tyrosh, and she was also the archmage of the Red Keep.

, her marriage probably doesn’t matter even if Ed talks about it, it really needs the King’s intervention.

Arya caught up with Robb. When the two walked to the training ground, Sansa was rubbing the direwolf lady's head with her metal arm. Gray Wind and Nymeria were curiously circling around Sansa. They were very curious.

Curious about Sansa's metal arm.

Maoduo is weak to fire, so when fire attacked the Wall, the direwolves stayed in the underground passages of the castle, waiting for Sansa to come back before releasing them.

After Sansa was fitted with a new arm, Robb was busy settling the knights from all over the place and had no time to communicate with Sansa. When he saw the smile on Sansa's face, he stepped forward and said, "It seems that your arm is very useful.

I went to the White Walkers’ stronghold and my clothes were not torn when I came back.”

This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content! Sansa raised her hand, her arm came out of her sleeve and grabbed Robb quickly. Robb raised his left hand to block, and when the metal arm was about to approach, the little

The arms suddenly branched out into two, one on the left and one on the right, bypassing Robb's arms.

One arm with three fingers was hovering around Robb's throat, and the other arm had a thumb and index finger, with the index finger pointed directly at Robb's right eye.

"It's so hard to guard against!" Robb, who had suffered a loss, was not annoyed. He smiled and reached out to touch the metal arm suspended in front of him.

"Wow! We can still separate, I want it too!" Arya rushed over, grabbing her arm and yelling.

The separated metal arms quickly rotated in the air, escaped from Robb and Arya's hands and returned to Sansa's sleeves. Looking at Arya with regret on her face, Sansa said: "You make a lot of money first, and then

Cut off your hands! If you like to use a sword, then you don’t need to cut off your hands. Just be a one-armed swordsman!"

"Sansa!" Arya yelled, and her voice suddenly became softer: "I will sleep with you today, and you can lend me your arm for a while?"

"Don't even think about it!"

Sansa and Arya had very different personalities. They had been arguing since childhood. Robb had long been used to it. He looked up at the top of the Great Wall. The flames near Castle Black had been extinguished. Only the Great Wall in the distance was still lit with fire: "The Divorced Ghost.

There will still be a period of time for the next round of offensive, so you two should stop making trouble and seize the time to rest."

"Cheapy Sansa!"

"Unreasonable Arya!"

While the two were bickering, a familiar yet unfamiliar voice without any emotion came over.

"Don't go and rest, Robb. Go and tell your men to pack up the supplies. We are going to continue south now."

"Bran!" Arya exclaimed.

Bran's direwolf Summer died on the same day he became a green seer. Perhaps it was fate. With stronger psychic abilities, Bran did not find another beast, but like other green seers, he surrounded himself with

Always surrounded by a flock of black crows.

His legs were not saved either. Unlike the original world where he was paralyzed after falling, this time his legs were torn off by the White Walkers after being frozen, and there was no trace below the knees.

The current Green Seer is sitting on a dog sled, and three skinchangers are following him on a dog sled respectively, helping him pack his bags and handle daily affairs. The three of them are devout believers in the old gods and voluntarily swear an oath.

Serve Green Prophet for life.

Looking at Bran's emotionless eyes, Robb calmed down and said, "Bu, greenseer, can you tell me the reason? Otherwise, I won't be able to convince my knights in the current situation."

"You go to the underground military camp now, and you will know when you see the knight." Bran said halfway, then turned to look at Sansa: "Sansa, you and Geralt don't follow us, you two go

In the Shadow Tower of the West, remember to take a boat south after finding important people."

"Important person? Going south by boat?" The supplies of the Shadow Tower are transported by the Bear Island Fleet, and most of the round trip is by boat. Sansa quickly ignored this in her mind. The Shadow Tower is the westernmost fortress of the Great Wall, and Sansa doesn't know where it is.

There is someone important that Bran refuses to name.

Seeing that Sansa did not answer him, Bran did not continue to speak. Instead, he left Castle Black with the words "I will wait for you at Moat Cailin." He and the three skinchangers left Castle Black on their sleigh.

"You two go to rest first. If you have anything to do, we can wait until dawn." After finally relaxing after a tense day, the atmosphere was made nervous by Bran again. After Robb said to his sister, he slowly walked towards the underground passage.

The green seer would not say this without reason. Since he said that he would know the reason after meeting his subordinates, Robb also planned to give it a try.

The underground passage was crowded with people, some were exhausted and fell asleep in the corner, some were carrying the injured with burns in, and some were transporting the bodies of the dead out of the passage.

Robb swerved in the passage, and nothing happened when he found the room with the direwolf flag hanging at the door.

Pushing open the door, a smell of sweat and blood hit your nostrils. This is the smell of the battlefield. The knights of the Stark family all took off their armor. Some were wiping their bodies with towels, some were bandaging their wounds with gauze, and some

He had fallen asleep on the bed and was snoring loudly.

Seeing this scene, Robb began to wonder whether he should believe Bran's words and tell everyone to pack up and go south immediately.

"Jiujian, come here!" Jiujian is a member of the team escorting the Green Seer, and Robb wants to talk to him about this alone first.

Jiujian stuffed the meatloaf into his mouth and drank a sip of water. He walked to Robb with his shirt off and said in a straight voice, "What's the matter, Robb."

"The Green Seer just left Castle Black on his sled, he told me." Robb looked at the room and lowered his voice: "He asked us to pack up and go south quickly!"

Jiu Jian pinched his neck and stuffed the meat pie into his stomach, staring at Robb: "Going south means withdrawing from Castle Black. Retreating without reason means shaking the morale of the army and defecting! Robb, you have to think clearly."

"Keep your voice down!" Robb pulled Jiu Jian to the door: "Why didn't I know! That's why I discussed it with you first. The Green Seer has powerful prophecy, but he only speaks half of it every time!"

"Well, people who can predict things like to pretend to be mysterious." Jiu Jian strongly agreed with this.

"The command of the Northern Alliance at Castle Black is in the hands of my father Eddard, and the Night's Watch is commanded by Commander-in-Chief Benjen. Why does his Green Seer have to come to me? Can't I just say no to the two of them?" Robb said with a face.

His expression became increasingly angry: "Now I finally understand why Master Witte hates the Green Seer so much!"

Robb didn't know whether Werther or the Green Seer had made a move. The current Green Seer was Bran, and he would not be merciful in hitting his younger brother Robb. Now Robb wanted to fly up and give the Green Seer a kick.

Jiujian: "How about we find a few more people to discuss? Maybe we can come up with a compromise."

"Okay!" At this time, Robb needed more people to come up with a solution that would neither disobey military orders nor violate the prophecy.

People who are nearby come over.

When the four people approached, Robb repeated what he had just said to Jiu Jian.

"Wait a minute, didn't the Green Seer say you can see the reason? How about you.

"As soon as Little Jon finished speaking, a shout came from the end of the passage.

"White Walkers siege! White Walkers siege!"

"How dare the White Walkers attack the Great Wall? Won't they turn into ashes if they stick to it?" Many people in the underground passage did not believe what the messenger said.

"It's not the real White Walkers, it's the ice spiders they raised! These ice spiders are different from the legendary ones. Each of them has an incredibly large abdomen. They burst out of the tunnel and hit the Great Wall desperately, and then exploded on their own.

Now there is white smoke rising from the bottom of the Great Wall!" the orderer yelled and gestured with his hands.

"Alchemical hydration reaction!" Robb and Jiujian looked at each other and said at the same time.

"No matter how powerful the magic circle in the Great Wall is, it is made of boiling water and freezing it. The White Walkers will never be able to do such a thing. It seems that vampires and human traitors are really a big trouble, hey~~" Jiu Jian

Sighed.

Robb is also proficient in alchemy. Water seems to be very stable, but in fact there are too many things that can react violently with water, such as quicklime, ores, and metals. Some of them can even cause violent explosions.

"How could our ancestors have thought of this thousands of years ago? It is most convenient to boil water and freeze it to build a city in the ice and snow." Robb turned and shouted into the room: "Everyone pack their luggage and take all the weapons, equipment and food."

,Gather at the training ground in ten minutes!”

Outside the Great Wall, strange-sized ice spiders kept running out of tunnels not far from the Great Wall and launched suicide attacks on the Great Wall.

The people at the top did not stop watching, and kept throwing kerosene and even wildfire below, but the effect was minimal.

Spiders are not resistant to burning, but they are originally committing suicide. If they survive a section of the wall of fire and hit the Great Wall, they will be successful. Instead, the flames added by humans have intensified the melting of the Great Wall.

An ice cave is forming at the foot of the Great Wall behind Castle Black.
