Chapter 1 Monte Town

In the year 335 of the Frantine calendar, the town of Beauselandmont, Kingdom of Frantia.

Monte Town is located in a remote area in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Frant. It is a semi-plain and semi-mountainous town. Most of the residents living here make a living by farming. They occasionally go to the surrounding forests to hunt some small beasts for improvement.

Although there are few people who dare to go deep into the forest, the powerful beasts in the forest can easily kill people.

On a summer night, the old Art family, who had just finished dinner, were sitting at the door of the courtyard enjoying the cool air.

Old Art is an authentic farmer, with a stooped back, dense wrinkles on his face, dense white hair on his head, and a puff of dry tobacco in his mouth. However, Old Art is only in his thirties this year.

Sitting next to him was his wife Sisi, who also had wrinkles on her face just like Old Art. While she was talking to Old Art, she was busy sewing clothes in her hands.

There was a child sitting between the two of them, about eight or nine years old, with a delicate face, a messy black hair hanging on his head, and a pair of black eyes that seemed to have stars twinkling. He was holding his legs motionless at this time.

He was staring at the bottom, as if looking at something interesting.

"Oren, your Uncle Bert will come back to visit us in a few days. He works in a blacksmith shop in Bossai City. I heard him say that he can earn several silver coins every month. I want you to follow

He went to learn blacksmithing, and learned the craft well. After learning this craft, you will have your own foundation, and you won’t have to work hard all your life like us! Your life will be easier in the future, what do you think?

go?"

Old Art took a puff of dry tobacco and said to Oren beside him.

On the side, Sisi just listened quietly and did not speak. Although she was reluctant to let this young child leave her side, she also knew that it was for the child's good.

After a year of hard work, their family only had enough food left over to eat, and at the end of the year they didn't earn a few copper coins.

And little Oren, who was squatting among them, didn't say much, and just replied softly.

"I understand, father, and I will listen to you."

Then the whole family fell into silence.

A few days later, in the evening, the old Art family, who were having dinner, suddenly heard a man's rough voice coming from outside.

"Brother, I'm back."

While he was talking, the man had already walked in. The man looked a little honest, and his face was a little dark and red, which should be caused by working in the blacksmith shop for a long time.

While eating, Old Art quickly stood up and said to the man.

"Burt, you're back! Have you eaten? Sit down and eat quickly. Ceci, go and get the tableware for Bern. Come on Oren, this is your Uncle Bert. Call him uncle."

Little Oren quickly stood up and called shyly to the man.

"Uncle Bert."

"No need to take it, sister-in-law, I ate it on the way here!"

Bert quickly said to Sisi who stood up.

"This is little Oren! You've grown so big. Oh, time flies so fast. I remember you were only this big when I came back from Bossai City last time!"

Bert gestured a distance with his hands and said to Oren, while Oren just smiled shyly at his uncle. He was also very curious about this uncle, and his uncle would occasionally send them some belongings.

At home, he often heard his father, Old Art, talk about this. He knew that this uncle worked in the blacksmith shop in Bossai City, and he had never seen the outside world.

"How long can you stay when you come back this time? You haven't been back for several years, so you must stay a few days longer this time!"

Old Art preached to Bert with some excitement.

"I'm going back tomorrow, brother! This time I came back with my friend's caravan. I also want to stay a few more days and spend a few more days with you at home, but I can't go back to Bossai City alone.

It’s dangerous even if it’s far away, there’s nothing we can do about it, brother.”

"well!"

After hearing this, Old Art sighed heavily and said nothing more. He also knew this, but he just didn't know when the two brothers would see each other again.

"Then take Oren with you when you go back. I want him to learn a craft from you so that he doesn't have to farm all his life like me."

Old Art then said to Bert.

"I also have this plan when I come back this time. I want Oren to follow me to Bossai City, so that his life will be easier in the future. I can also teach him some things there and let him read and read."

"Well! Oren will feel more at ease when I follow you from now on. It would be better if he could read and write."

"Okay, let's not talk about this anymore. How have you been in the past few years? I haven't seen you come back in the past few years. Every time I ask someone else to bring a message. Have you found a sibling for me and your sister-in-law? Give it to us.

Tell me about your experience in Bossai City these past few years!"

"What kind of younger sibling are you looking for? Brother, don't you know me yet? Okay, let's let our little Oren know the outside world first, hahaha! When I first arrived in Bossai City with the caravan..."

That night Oren learned a lot of novel things from his uncle, and also learned a lot about the outside world. He also had a great yearning for the outside world in his heart. He wanted to see the outside world and experience it.

Uncle Bert talked about the prosperity, and he was not willing to stay at home and farm all his life. He wanted to see it and experience the wonderful things outside.

The next day, Old Art and his wife were packing Oren's things. There were only a few changes of clothes in a small cloth bag, and there were no other extra things to pack.

"Oren, when you get outside, follow your Uncle Bert carefully. Be sure to listen to his words. Your uncle will not harm you. Just do whatever he tells you. Do you hear me? Follow him and learn from him.

Things, you will have your own way out in the future, do you know?"

Old Art warned Oren slightly harshly.

"Yeah, yeah, I know father, I will listen carefully to Uncle Bert."

Little Oren replied to Old Art in a choked voice. For Oren, who had never left his parents, his heart was full of reluctance, but for ordinary people like them, there was no choice. This was Oren's first time.

Leaving his hometown and leaving his parents for the first time.

Sisi on the side was wiping tears while packing Ornn's things, as if she wanted to put all her reluctance into this small package.

"Here, take it, there are places to spend money everywhere in the city, don't save it, I will find someone to send it to you when the time comes."

As he spoke, Old Art stuffed a few copper coins into Oren's hand, but Oren knew that these were the few copper coins in the family. Oren even swallowed and did not speak, but held the copper coins in his hand tightly.

As he was talking, footsteps and Bert's voice came from outside.

"Brother, have you packed everything? The caravan is about to leave. Where is Oren?"

"Well, everything has been packed up. Oren is here!"

While talking, Bert walked in, looked at old Art, and then at Oren.

"Pack up and leave! The caravan is about to leave. If you don't leave, you won't be able to catch up. Don't cry, Oren. When you get to the city, learn the craft and make money. When the time comes, you can take your parents to the city and live a happy life.

day!"

"Well, I know Uncle Bert!"

"Burt, I'll leave it to you to take care of little Oren."

"Don't worry, brother, don't you understand me yet? I will take good care of Oren."

Then the group of people left the house and walked towards the location of the caravan.

Caravans travel between villages and towns, and villages and towns also rely on caravans to replenish some daily necessities, such as salt, etc., and caravans sometimes stop in villages and towns.

After the old Art family followed Bert to where the caravan was, a curly-haired man walked towards them.

"Have everything been taken care of? Bert! The caravan is about to set off, and I even said I would call you!"

The man said to Bert.

"Well, everything has been taken care of. You can leave at any time. Let me introduce you to this. This is my eldest brother and sister-in-law."

Bourne pointed at the old Art couple and said to the man.

Then he pointed at Oren and introduced.

"This is Oren, my nephew! This time he will follow me to Bossai City."

"Brother and sister-in-law, this is Gele, the steward of the caravan, who is also a good friend of mine. I came back with his caravan this time."

"Manager Gullah, hello!"

Old Yate and his wife said to Gullah.

"Hello."

Geler smiled and said to the old Ater couple.

"Now that everything is taken care of, let's go!"

Then the group of people walked towards the caravan. When they arrived, Gulle separated from them. He was the steward of the caravan and had many things to deal with.

When they arrived at the carriage, Bert carried little Oren into the carriage and then turned back to the old Art couple and said.

"Go back, brother and sister-in-law, I will take good care of Oren, don't worry!"

"Then it's up to you, Bert."

Then he said to Oren.

"You have to listen to your Uncle Bert carefully, got it? Oren."

"I understand, father."

Oren nodded heavily.

As he spoke, the voice of Steward Gulle came from ahead.

"Set off!"

As the caravan slowly walked away, Oren watched as the figures of his parents gradually blurred. He was about to leave this familiar place and his parents. He was going to an unknown world with an unknown future.
