Chapter 72 The Legend of the Future

Ajaccio, the port of Xicheng District.

Although there are dozens of ships of various sizes moored at the pier, what attracts everyone's attention at this moment is undoubtedly the third-class British battleship HMS Reasonable with two gun decks and flying the Union Jack.

On the pier where the Reason was anchored, dozens of sailors armed with muskets were lined up, pointing their guns at the patrols in Ajaccio opposite.

On the Reasonable ship, more sailors were nervously lying on the side of the ship, observing the situation below.

At the bow of the ship, a man wearing a three-cornered hat, a white shirt and a dark blue uniform shouted loudly to the patrols under the ship with a solemn expression.

Hidden behind a bunker built by several wooden boxes, Old Sean and Grosso looked at each other as they listened to the man's shouts.

Old Sean was the first to speak awkwardly:

"What is this person's name? His voice is so loud."

Old Sean, who had spoken Italian all his life, could not understand the English the man spoke.

Grosso scratched his head. Although he had traveled to many places, he could only understand a few simple sentences:

"Can't hear clearly, it seems like it's telling us to put down our weapons."

"How is that possible?" Old Sean frowned and said:

"How about we fire shots to scare them?"

Grosso couldn't help but give Old Sean a blank look, pointed at the Reasonable No. in annoyance and said:

"You see clearly, that is a damn British ship. If you order the shooting today, the Royal Navy fleet will come over in three days and scatter your ashes."

Grosso, who has spent most of his life at sea, is well aware of the strength of the British Navy, so he also knows that the conflict must not be expanded now, so he said to Old Sean:

"Hurry up and tell these patrols to remove all the bullets and gunpowder, lest any son of a bitch accidentally fires."

"That's...okay." Old Sean also knew his role very well. Grosso was undoubtedly much more knowledgeable in this aspect than him, so he simply agreed.

...

The confrontation between the two sides lasted for dozens of minutes, and then Lawrence and Ya'an rushed over and hurried to the dock.

"Monsieur Bonaparte!"

"Boy, you're here."

When Old Sean and Grosso saw Lawrence, they quickly came over, pointed to the Reasonable and the confrontation parties not far away, and briefly introduced the situation to Lawrence.

"Wait a minute, you said this ship is called the Reasonable?" Lawrence frowned and interrupted Grosso, asking a seemingly irrelevant question.

"Yeah, what's the problem?" Grosso was stunned for a moment and asked.

"Nothing, just keep talking."

Lawrence shook his head, but he kept thinking in his heart.

The third-class ship HMS Reasonable of the British Navy in 1770. Lawrence remembered hearing this name in a certain period of history.

After a brief description, Lawrence looked at the reasonable number and asked:

"You haven't communicated with each other yet?"

Grosso shrugged helplessly and said:

"At the beginning, there was a language barrier, but later the conflict arose and we couldn't even communicate with each other through gestures."

Lawrence nodded, took the initiative to walk to the dock where the Reason was parked, and looked at the man wearing a three-cornered hat at the bow of the ship.

Judging from his clothes, he should be the captain of this warship.

Although this body does not speak English, Lawrence was quite proficient in English in his previous life. Although English in the 21st century is definitely different from that in the 18th century, there is still no problem in normal communication.

"Your Excellency, who has come from afar, I am Lieutenant Colonel of the Corsican Defense Force, Laurence Bonaparte, and the commander of these people. Please express your intention of coming."

Lawrence shouted at the captain of the other side. Since the other side was from the British Navy, Lawrence still chose to report his military identity.

The captain was stunned for a moment, then leaned half of his body out to glance at Lawrence. He seemed to be glad that someone who could speak English finally came, so he replied:

"Lieutenant-Colonel Bonaparte, I am Captain Maurice Salker, Captain of the HMS Reasonable. We are here at the invitation of the Governor of Corsica. Now I ask your men to lay down their arms and not to obstruct

Let's dock."

Lawrence frowned even more. He came to visit at the invitation of Governor Pauli? But he didn't get any news at all.

"Hey... I guess that old fox Paulie deliberately blocked the news from me."

Lawrence thought about Paulie's attitude toward him over the past two years as if he were on guard against thieves, and he felt relieved. Then he turned to the patrols and ordered:

"Everyone obeys the order and retreats to the back of the pier, forming a square formation and waiting for orders."

Seeing the patrols put away their weapons and retreat to the rear, Captain Morris also breathed a sigh of relief. He also ordered his sailors to put down their weapons, then climbed down from the gangway and walked towards Lawrence.

Watching Captain Morris walking towards him, Lawrence also keenly noticed that right behind him, there was always a short man wearing an ordinary sailor uniform.

After getting closer, Lawrence discovered that following Captain Morris was actually a little boy who looked to be only about twelve years old.

Captain Morris smiled and stretched out his right hand to hold it with Lawrence, and said with slight dissatisfaction:

"To be honest, Lieutenant Colonel Bonaparte, your welcome ceremony today was terrible."

"Let me tell you the truth, Captain Morris, these people are not soldiers lining up to welcome you. Strictly speaking, they are... policemen."

Lawrence pointed with his left hand at the patrolman behind him and said.

"Really?" Captain Morris looked at the patrolmen again in surprise and said in succession:

"By police standards, their discipline is really good. If you have a chance, you must go to London. The police there, my God, are just like gangsters, especially the mounted police. I met them once

..."

After the misunderstanding between the two parties was resolved, Captain Morris, who was here for a friendly visit, became talkative.

Lawrence had no choice but to interrupt him with an awkward cough, took out his right hand, looked at the boy behind Captain Morris, and said:

"Oh, this is my nephew. He is a cadet in the Royal Navy and is an intern on my ship. Even though he is only twelve years old, he is quite capable."

Captain Morris pointed at the little boy and said proudly:

"His name is, Horatio Nelson."

"Wait, what's his name?!"

Lawrence couldn't help but twitch the corner of his mouth and asked repeatedly.

"Huh? His name is Ho-Lee-Shaw Nar-Son. You don't know him, do you?"

Captain Morris thought Lawrence had not heard clearly, so he slowed down and read the little boy's name again, and asked strangely.

Of course Lawrence did not recognize the little boy in front of him, but the name Horatio Nelson was definitely a name that would be unavoidable when future generations talked about the navy in the Napoleonic era.

Nelson, a legendary admiral of the British navy.

In history, his famous battle was when he faced the navy of the Egyptian Legion led by Napoleon. In Alexandria, with the number of battleships at a disadvantage, Nelson almost annihilated the French fleet. Not only did Nelson not lose any of his own warships, he also

Instead, six French battleships were captured.

What made Nelson even more famous was his complete victory over the combined fleets of France and Spain in the Battle of Trafalgar. This battle almost destroyed the entire French navy, forcing Napoleon to never consider it again for the rest of his life.

By attacking England itself.

It can be said that he was one of the most outstanding naval generals in the Napoleonic era.

"I believe he will become an excellent naval admiral."

Lawrence suppressed his inner excitement, touched Nelson's head, and said with a smile.

And Lawrence finally remembered why he felt that the name of the Reasonable was so familiar. Historically, the Reasonable was the first ship Nelson served on.

"Although he is an Englishman, this guy's talent is really... It would be great if he could be put to use by me."

Lawrence immediately ignored Captain Morris and stared at Nelson with fiery eyes.
