Chapter 7 The Mysterious Manuscript

A few minutes later, Pan Yue walked out of the hut with a heavy heart.

He knew that this might be the safest place in Huguang Village, but at the same time he also realized one thing - Aunt Yang didn't want to see her like she was now.

Before leaving, he silently collected the manuscripts scattered on the floor, put them in a dusty backpack, and carried them on his back. He couldn't tell the specific reason for doing so, maybe he just vaguely felt that Uncle Zhao's elegant handwriting was full of charm.

Give yourself some comfort.

Next, he carefully explored the entire Huguang Village, and a desperate feeling of powerlessness came to his heart.

Loneliness.

The huge village was eerily quiet, and he couldn't hear any noise except his own footsteps. At a certain moment, he would even rather see a corpse or a ghost in a dark corner, but here there were only shabby old buildings.

Ruins and unapproachable abyss.

Apart from the base, he doesn't know where else he can go in this weird world, but he doesn't even know the location of the base. Fortunately, humans within the aperture don't feel hungry or thirsty. There seems to be some strange natural law.

It would restore their strength. Bored, he walked to the entrance of the village, sat on the ground and opened his backpack.

This thick stack of paper has turned yellow after more than 20 years, and many of the writings on it have been polished by wind and rain and are blurred, but Pan Yue still holds them carefully and reads them.

Most of the manuscripts are prose and modern poems, recording every detail of the couple's life in gentle language. Pan Yue is even mentioned in some articles.

That cute child always has a kind light in his eyes.

This is how Uncle Zhao described Pan Yue.

After reading this, the corners of Pan Yue's mouth rose slightly, but the tears of emotion fell uncontrollably from the corners of his eyes again.

Suddenly, a piece of manuscript made him frown.

The handwriting on the paper is very sloppy, but it can still be barely discerned that it was written by Uncle Zhao. Among the many traces of alteration, a few words stand out.

aperture.

Arrive.

Pan Yue quickly looked through the next few manuscripts, which were all filled with strange sentences written in scrawled handwriting. He tried his best to remember where he had picked up these pieces of paper.

On the ground under the broken steps of the attic.

At that time, these pieces of paper were scattered on the ground in a mess. The distinctive handwriting caught Pan Yue's attention, but he put them into his backpack without looking carefully at the contents on them.

He continued to read those few sentences in confusion, but the next words frightened him even more.

"Look to the sky, high up.

The time has come for the stars to return to their alignment, the past has come, and the end is approaching.

The seal has been destroyed and the evil god has awakened.

They will return and humanity will be alarmed.

They bring fear, and they call faith in their name.

When they come back, they hope to return to darkness.

Ignorance and stupidity have become the new masters.

Wherever they are, they are the rules.

The stars are bright and hot, boiling and trembling, foretelling the end of the world.

Horrible, terrifying, extremely terrifying, extremely, extremely terrifying.

Rising from the bottom of the sea, emerging from the ground, falling from the sky.

They are everywhere."

It is hard to imagine the state in which that elegant and easy-going man recorded these terrible ravings in crazy handwriting.

Does he have anything to do with the Children of Light? Or... does he have anything to do with the White Walkers?

Pan Yue felt that her blood and breathing were about to stop. She involuntarily flipped through the next manuscript with her next hand, which seemed to be a prayer.

"Merciful and great Lord, I sincerely hope to become your faithful believer. Please bless me. My soul will belong to you, whether in life or after death."

Pan Yue slowly read out the words above, and suddenly felt a sharp stabbing pain in his head, as if something had penetrated into it.

"Well--"

He covered his head in pain, and the manuscripts were scattered on the dry and evil land.

Everything in front of him seemed to be distorted, and the original blood-red light kept changing into strange colors.

I don't know how long it took, but the severe pain stopped in an instant, and the surrounding scene returned to normal, as if nothing had happened.

Pan Yue shook his head vigorously, and then breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that nothing was wrong with him. It seemed that Uncle Zhao only joined the Sons of Light after entering the circle of light.

He bent down and picked up the fallen manuscripts one by one, and suddenly saw a map among them.

National map, drawn in 1992.

Judging from this, this should have been bought and used normally before the aperture appeared.

On the map, there is a small hill marked with a heart shape next to Huguang Village, which looks very close to here.

Pan Yue had never left the village, so she didn't know where this place was, nor did she understand the meaning of this mark. But at the moment, she didn't know where to go, so she might as well go and take a look.

I hope there is someone there, even a member of the Children of Light.

Pan Yue breathed a long sigh of relief, got up and left her hometown where she had lived for more than ten years.

Along the way, he encountered several human mutants. After the previous experience, the mutants' skinny and twisted appearance actually seemed a bit ridiculous. He did not panic at all and tried to deal with them using various natural elements.

He seems to be more talented in controlling flames. He can ignite the air to create flames with just a gesture of his hand, or he can directly ignite wherever his thoughts go. He easily defeated those mutants with flames.

However, every time he uses the power of nature, he always feels that a certain cell or blood in his body is resisting it.

Although Fang Yang didn't mention it, this should be because beginners have not adapted.

Pan Yue thought about this and felt happy about her progress.

A few hours later, Pan Yue arrived at the foot of the mountain marked on the map. The mountain was not high, and a large building and some firelight could be vaguely seen at the top.

He couldn't hide his excitement and climbed up quickly. As he got closer and closer to the top of the mountain, he could even hear some vague conversations.

The sound of human conversation.

He knew that no one in this world would harm him, so he climbed to the top of the mountain in a moment with increasing excitement.

The mountain breeze blew away the hair that was stuck to his face with sweat, and what came into view was a black round altar.

There were many torches swaying in the wind around the round altar, and two teenagers about his own age were staring at him warily.

"mortal?"

Among them, the thinner boy was the first to ask the question. The other one seemed to be more shrewd and mature. He answered first before Pan Yue could wait: "Nonsense, our people were all teleported up directly. The Resistance Army will not let such a brat

Come to our altar, and those losers from the peace talk faction will even less have the courage."

The two teenagers whispered for a few more words before completely letting go of their guard, and stepped forward to help the panting Pan Yue sit down outside the round altar.

The more mature boy looked at Pan Yue and paused on his backpack.

"Mortal, are you here to hunt for goods? This is the altar of the Son of Light. There are no artifacts or codes. You can rest here for the night. I will teleport you down the mountain tomorrow."

"That's right, you treasure hunters really don't care about anything in order to make money. Even if you don't encounter mutants, some believers who are not as good-tempered as us can kill you. You have to be careful in the future."

Pan Yue was eager to stay here for a while to get some news, and nodded her thanks when she heard that she could stay overnight.

The thin boy was more cheerful and said with a smile: "You're welcome, my name is Monkey, and his name is Bailong. What about you?"

Pan Yue once heard Fang Yang say that members of the Sons of Light do not refer to each other by their real names. Ordinary believers will give themselves a code name before joining the church, while senior believers with positions will be called directly by their positions.

"I...uh..."

When the monkey saw him hesitating, he thought he was shy, so he sat down beside him and patted his shoulder.

"Come here, tell me your name, and if you need it in the future, I will take you to join the church!"

"Um...Pan Yue..."

"Okay, Pan...the Holy Son?"
