Chapter 57: A Glimpse

Three years ago, Jiang Liang had just been promoted to captain of the Xingjin City Criminal Investigation Team. He was already a well-known young man in the industry and a potential successor favored by many leaders.

He participated in the Black Mist Operation that encircled and suppressed drug nests, raided the Wa State Village, the drug manufacturing factory in Southeast Asia, and made great contributions.

The second-class merit medal in the drawer of his office was the product of that operation.

But he never thought that this was his credit. All of this was given by a woman.

Southeast Asia has rugged terrain, abundant rivers, and hot and humid mountains and forests. The Wa Village occupies the best geographical location, making it easy to defend but difficult to attack.

In the northwest of Wa State Village, there is a dangerous swampland, which is extremely difficult to deploy. Both the Wa State and the government and the army have given up control of this land.

Jiang Lian was ordered to act independently and snipe hostile elements who might escape from this gap.

He paid attention to the movements around him under the bunker and was ready to shoot at any time.

A woman appeared in the scope. She was dressed in a smart tights, with knives tied to her waist, arms and thighs. She held a gun in her hand and slid down the slope of the top of the mountain.

She turned around and wanted to shoot, but when she pulled the trigger, there was no reaction. The bullets in the gun were already empty.

She began to run forward, multitasking, finding her way, dodging stray bullets from the pursuers behind her, and fiddling with the watch on her hand.

Jiang Lian saw her running in his direction and entering the sniper range. At the foot of the mountain here, there were swamps all over, making it difficult for locals who were not familiar with the terrain to get out.

She didn't look like a local who was familiar with the terrain at all. She was like a loach trying to find its way in a quagmire, then stepped on a steep slope and rolled down.

Jiang Lian kept adjusting his aim and followed her. His finger was on the trigger, but he never lowered it, watching her every move.

The pursuers behind her immediately caught up, but from the bottom of the steep slope out of sight, a smoking tear gas grenade was thrown up, and white smoke immediately spread from their feet.

These pursuers are not a big threat. They are not orthodox troops. They have to shoot everywhere with their own guns.

One of them pointed to the foot of the mountain, and they were communicating with each other in Burmese.

Then they turned back and seemed to be waiting for something to happen.

Jiang Lian guessed that these skirmishers probably felt that the woman was too slippery and it would be too hard to chase her. They felt that there was a swamp at the foot of the mountain and she couldn't escape anyway and had to turn back, so they simply waited here.

He narrowed his eyes and adjusted his aim again. At the bottom of the white smoke, a shadow flew behind a tree trunk like a bird.

He knew it was that woman.

Then I heard the few soldiers shouting and running away, and a blind cannonball was shot towards them.

Jiang Lian immediately lowered his head, and the ground shook. The splashed mud could even hit his head. He shook his head and shook off the mud.

He looked again and saw that the explosion site of the shell was just behind the tree where the woman was hiding. Now it had been blown up so much that the roots of the tree were burned, and it was crumbling and threatening to topple over.

He thought that the woman was probably dead.

He had just relaxed a little, and then he saw a shadow flicker, a cut leg was still bleeding, and dark red flesh could be seen on the shoulder and back, and she climbed up again holding on to the injured leg.

.

Not only was the woman not dead, she was even more ferocious than before. She was so fierce that she took off the long knife from her waist, walked straight through the thick smoke from the explosion, and headed straight for the fleeing soldiers.

He couldn't believe it and muttered to himself.

"What is she doing?"

Jiang Lian watched with his own eyes as she got rid of these annoying followers, and now she was injured by a cannonball. Although it looked like her leg injury was slightly serious and could only be sustained for a while, there were superficial abrasions on her shoulders and back, which did not affect her movement.

In this humid and hot dense forest, if you cannot get timely treatment, you will be at risk of infection.

Jiang Lian just watched her change her face from running away in embarrassment, and directly used the long knife to fight against the soldiers holding guns. She still didn't fall behind, her skills were amazing.

He vaguely felt that something was wrong with this person, so he left the bunker and stepped forward to check with his gun raised.

The woman dealt with the few soldiers without running away in a hurry, looking for things everywhere on them.

Jiang Lian walked over with a gun in hand, and her ears were so sensitive that she heard the movement behind her, and she slowly turned back to look at him.

He could never forget that face.

Her slender eyes were slightly hooked like willow leaves, her long eyebrows were embellished like silk, the blood drops on her cheeks were like a row of blood-red pearls, contrasting with her fair and smooth skin, her thin lips were slightly parted, and she was breathing lightly.

The unique charm of oriental women is in her, and you can fall in love with her at just one glance.

He was stunned for a moment, and an inference was formed based only on facial features.

She is Chinese?

The woman was pointed at a gun by him. She looked him up and down, and probably felt that he was not someone to be trifled with. She slowly raised her hands in a gesture of surrender, holding a newly found mobile phone in her hand.

Cell phones snatched from those soldiers.

So she did all this just for this mobile phone?

What does she need a cell phone for? Is she calling for reinforcements?

Jiang Lian adjusted the muzzle of his gun and hit the mobile phone in her hand with great accuracy. However, he did not expect that this move completely angered her.

"You fucking..."

Jiang Lian was stunned again. She spoke Chinese, she was really Chinese.

But what is she doing here so secretly? She has not been seen in the formation, and her attire does not look like one of our own.

Before he had a chance to think about it, the woman slashed at him with a long knife.

Jiang Lian put down his gun and fought with bare hands. After ducking sideways, he pinched her wrist and pushed hard. The long knife lost strength and fell. However, the next second, a short dagger was swung at close range. He lowered his waist to dodge, and the blade was scratched.

He grabbed a corner of his mask and almost cut his throat.

The woman didn't talk nonsense to him at all. She waved the short dagger in both hands and used every opportunity to stab the vital parts.

Jiang Lian blocked dozens of her moves, saw the opportunity again, closed his hands, and removed her dagger again.

Not only did she not let go with her bare hands, she grabbed his arm with her backhand and kicked him hard in the stomach.

Jiang Lian fell back and hit a tree pole.

The wound on the woman's injured leg also expanded due to the kick just now, and she could no longer stand firmly.

As if resigned to her fate, she knelt on one knee on the ground, lowered her head and smiled bitterly for a while, and then pointed her middle finger at him viciously.

Jiang Lian went up and tied her up without saying a word, and she didn't struggle. She knew that she was at the end of her rope, and it was useless to struggle any more.

Jiang Lian put her on his shoulders, picked up the gun, and walked deep into the dense forest.

"ya&ma&%@ga!"

The woman was cursing on his back, but Jiang Lian couldn't understand it. It seemed to be a curse in Burmese.

When the woman saw that he didn't respond, she switched to English again.

"fuckyou!"

He understood this sentence, but Jiang Lian still ignored her.

The woman switched to Chinese again.

"I'll fuck you, uncle!"

Jiang Lian threw her directly into the bamboo house that he used as his stronghold. Once the bamboo door was closed, he cursed her and continued to carry out the mission with his gun in hand.

The sky is covered with thick clouds, the air is even more humid, and the pouring rain has brought the melee in the Wa village to a stalemate, and no one will escape in this direction.

The swamp on a rainy day, even for locals who know the way, is a place where they can never come back.

The rain gave everyone a chance to breathe. Jiang Lian returned to the bamboo house, took off his clothes and squeezed out the rainwater, but found that the woman was particularly quiet, as if she was tired of scolding.

He took a sip of water, pushed her, "Hey!"

The woman didn't respond, so he stepped forward and touched her hot skin.

"Have a fever?"

When I looked at her wounds again, the hot and humid environment had accelerated the infection.

Now that there was no threat to her, and her life was still in danger, he untied the ropes from her bindings, helped her up and kindly fed her two mouthfuls of water, but she refused to drink.

Jiang Lian said coldly, "You will die."

She weakly pushed away and turned her head away, preferring to die rather than drink something of unknown origin.

Obviously her mouth is dry, which is what she needs most.

Jiang Lian seemed to have guessed a little. He took a sip himself, then forcefully pushed it across her face and fed it to her mouth to mouth. He also slightly raised her head and forced her to drink.

"Not poisonous."

He used a knife to cut her clothes into strips of cloth, and he changed them into a navel-baring top and shorts without any instruction. He then used the gunpowder in the bullet to make a rough bandage for her.

The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and it didn't stop all night long. He rested on one side holding the gun, while the woman lay on the other side, so confused that she kept talking in her sleep.

English for a while, Burmese for a while, and then switched to Chinese again.

"The Wa Village...is not...in the village..."

Jiang Lian opened his eyes and felt like she was saying something important.

"What did you say?"

The woman fell asleep again, and after a while she talked about something else.

"I kill you."

Jiang Lian: "..."

She kept chattering all night, talking nonsense and almost giving Jiang Lian a nervous breakdown.

The sky was getting brighter and the rain had subsided a little. Jiang Lian went to check on her condition. The woman felt someone touching her. She was so exhausted that she half-opened her eyes and stared at him out of focus.

"How are you?"

She closed her eyes again and tried her best to climb over. Jiang Lian quickly took the gun away, thinking that she was coming to grab the weapon.

Unexpectedly, she just took off the watch from her hand, then rubbed it and handed it into his hand.

"You are Chinese, take this, go to the command team and tell them not to attack the Wa village. The goods are in the village fifty kilometers southeast. There are no heavy weapons, but there are guns."

She weakly pushed him and said, "Go quickly. If you're late, it'll be too late."

Two sentences exhausted her strength and she fell into sleep again.

Jiang Lian held the token she gave him in his hand and carefully thought about what she said. He realized her true identity and what he had done.

This woman is an undercover agent.

The watch was damaged, so she grabbed the phone to send a message to the command team.

And he shot away what she had worked so hard to achieve, her last hope.

She did have a reason to kill him.
