Chapter Five: Perverting the law for personal gain

Separated by a few people, Cheng Qingwan caught the man's expression in his eyes.

He has deep eyebrows, a cold temperament, and a thin face without any emotion, making it difficult for people to understand his thoughts.

The director of the pavilion on the side bent over and whispered something in his ear. The young man retracted his eyes, and a medium-sized voice sounded, which reached the girl's ears.

"Your Majesty has ordered me to support Hua County. I have my own opinion on which village I want to stay in. I won't bother the pavilion chief."

"Yes, yes." The pavilion chief bent further, touched the sweat on his forehead, and quickly followed.

Cheng Qingwan looked at their backs, turned around and walked back to her field.

Not long after she walked, she saw the sprouted crops in two fields connected together, uprooted and thrown carelessly on the field ridges.

Cheng Qingwen then remembered what her mother-in-law said that night about Song Da destroying all the grain in the fields.

"Tsk, it's shameful to waste food."

She frowned and while checking whether the crops could still be planted, she secretly regretted in her heart that she didn't give Song Da a few more sticks that day.

She checked them one by one and found that none of them were viable.

Cheng Qingwen sighed softly and planted the corn seeds with a hoe on his back.

The sun slowly went down. After Cheng Hua'er finished washing the dishes, he planned to go out to find his daughter. Unexpectedly, before he could walk out of the door, he bumped into Song Daqiang who was coming towards him.

She frowned and took a step back, asking sternly: "What are you doing here?"

"How do you think about what I told you yesterday?" Song Daqiang walked towards her and looked at her figure up and down.

"Impossible, Huanyuan can never marry into your family!"

"Don't be in a hurry to refuse. If she marries you, I will ensure that you will have food and drink, and no one in this village will come to trouble you again."

"If I marry Huanhan into your family for some food and drink, I'm afraid that when I dream back in the middle of the night, her dead grandfather's family will come to me to settle the score!" Cheng Huaer sneered, looking at the fat head and big ears in front of him for no reason.

It's disgusting.

"You think I don't know what your plans are. You married your son a wife two years ago, and then hanged her to death on the second day of the wedding. Why is it that others don't know and I don't know? On the night of the wedding, I slept with her.

It’s your son who’s better, or you!”

Song Daqiang's expression changed, and then he immediately put his arms around her waist and brought her in front of him: "Since you refuse to let Huan Huan come, then give me another son."

Cheng Huaer's pupils were shocked and struggled hard: "You are dreaming."

Song Daqiang was a man after all, so he pushed the struggling woman to the ground in a few moments. He reached out to untie the woman's clothes, and looked at the snow-white skin, his eyes blurred.

Cheng Hua'er's hands were pressed. Thinking of the scene when Cheng Qinghan beat the two big men that day, she sharply arched her knees and hit his lifeline.

"ah!"

Song Daqiang's heartbreaking voice sounded, Cheng Hua'er quickly gathered her clothes and wanted to run out, but she didn't want to be grabbed back by the person behind her and thrown on the table.

The woman overturned the table, the broken bowl cut her wrist, and blood flowed uncontrollably all over the floor.

Song Daqiang was so frightened when he saw the fainted person that he quickly ran out the door.

Before I had taken a few steps, I happened to meet Cheng Qinghan who was returning with a hoe on his back.

"What are you doing at my house?" She frowned, looking at the man's guilty look, she had an ominous premonition in her heart.

Cheng Qinghan followed the door and looked in, and the blood on the ground came into his eyes.

Song Daqiang saw that the person in front of him didn't react, and he quickly wanted to run out.

Before he could even take a step, the hoe was placed across the middle of the door, blocking his way. Then, he pulled the person back and threw him to the ground.

"What did you do to my grandma?"

"I didn't, she fell on her own and cut her wrist." Song Daqiang rubbed his butt, looked through the door, looked at the people outside and the group of people passed by, and shouted: "Village Chief, Village Chief, help me,

This girl Cheng Qingwan killed someone."

Cheng Qingwen approached Cheng Hua'er and confirmed that she had only cut her wrist. When she heard the howl, she sneered, looked at the bloody footprints on the ground, and simply stood still.

"What are you howling for, what are you howling for, shut up." The village chief's expression changed drastically, and he quickly walked in and told Song Daqiang to shut up.

"Village Chief, she not only killed her mother, she also killed me." The man cried and hugged the village chief's thigh, not noticing that ink was dripping from the village chief's face.

Cheng Qinghan stood there, looking at the pavilion chief and the new high-ranking officials who came in. Everyone looked bad, except Song Daqiang who was crying and didn't pay attention.

"Come here, please escort this woman to me and bring her back to the Yamen." The chief of the pavilion frowned and glanced at the young man beside him cautiously.

"Wait a minute, can't we find a doctor to confirm whether my mother-in-law is dead before the case is tried?" Cheng Qingwen's eyes darkened: "Or do you think that foreigners are not important, just bury them after they are dead?"

When the village chief and Song Daqiang heard this, their feet softened and they almost fell together.

"Go and call the accompanying doctor." The young man's eyes were cold, he looked at the bloody footprints all over the room, and he had a plan in mind.

"Yes, sir."

The people accompanying him quickly brought the government doctor, who examined her and gave her a few injections. Cheng Hua'er slowly woke up.

"Master, the wound on this lady's hand has been bandaged." The doctor looked a little evasive.

"Madam has just woken up. I'm afraid she can't stand the hard work of carriages and horses. The chief of the pavilion will interrogate her here." The young man glanced at their expressions and said with an unchanged expression.

"This... is not very good. The master must be there to record the case." The chief of the pavilion said while winking at the person next to him.

"Then invite Master here. If you don't want to interrogate me, then I will do it." The young man's eyes turned cold and he looked straight at the person in front of him: "I, Yuanqi, have been appointed as the Supervisory Censor, and I have been ordered to supervise and support Hua County.

This case will definitely come to light within an hour."

When the director of the pavilion heard this, he immediately sounded the alarm: "Of course there will be a trial. But, sir, we have been gone for a day, so let's put this case to the Yamen for another trial tomorrow."

He must not be allowed to try the case. The Chengs and their daughters are so tight-lipped. If they are implicated in corruption, the official hat on their heads will not be guaranteed!

"Yes, sir, it's getting late. Why don't you go back and rest first? We can settle the matters in our village privately." The village chief quickly picked up the conversation and said to Song Daqiang standing aside: "Are you willing to mediate?"

"I...of course I am willing."

Cheng Hua'er grabbed Cheng Qingwan who was talking and shook his head at her.

"Sir, look..." Upon hearing this, the director of the pavilion quickly said flatteringly.

The young man's expression was not good. He hated this kind of bending of the law for personal gain and collusion. Just as he was about to speak, he heard the follower behind him say: "Sir, don't forget important things."

"Madam, are you willing?" Yuan Qi rubbed his eyebrows and looked across the crowd, resting on Cheng Hua'er.

"I don't want to." Cheng Qingwen broke away from the woman's hand, walked to Song Daqiang who was still lying on the ground, and lifted his feet up.

The soles of the black cloth shoes were stained with blood.

"The person who almost killed my mother-in-law is here. You want me to reconcile?"
