Chapter 9 Happiness

In the early morning, Li Po slowly opened his eyes.

The warmth on his body made him a little lazy to move.

But the chill that gradually began to invade made him wake up quickly, and he got up neatly.

Looking at Qingchun who was lying next to him, wrapped like a rice dumpling but still shivering, he couldn't help but smile bitterly.

Fever is not a big problem in his opinion.

But in this day and age, it's really easy to kill a person.

But he didn't have much choice but to bring two to keep him warm and full.

Fortunately, he had not been idle in the past two days. He went into the mountains twice more and brought back some wild animals. He originally planned to eat them on the road, but now, he could only solve this urgent need.

The fire has not been extinguished, the north wind is howling outside, and the weather is freezing cold. However, this temporary nest still retains the temperature that humans can survive.

Li Po conveniently added some more firewood to make the fire stronger.

This is a house with half of it collapsed. It should belong to someone's kitchen. I chose to stay here not because of how complete it is, but because it has a kitchen stove.

He grabbed a pottery pot with a cracked mouth and shook it. There was still more than half of the pot filled with water.

There is only one benefit to a snowy day, it is much more convenient to get water.

Put the clay pot over the fire, throw in the pieces of meat you cut yesterday, add some seasonings, and it's easy to make a pot of satisfying broth.

After preparing breakfast, Li Po wrapped his tattered leather robe tightly, gently opened the tattered door, lowered his head, and got out.

What greeted him was the snow slag and the howling north wind.

Li Po shivered and stood up straight. After a long time, he exhaled a breath of white air.

My eyes were filled with blinding white, the sun was hanging in the sky, but I couldn't feel any warmth.

Birds disappeared from thousands of mountains, people disappeared from thousands of paths, and the severe cold in the north dominated everything in the world.

Li Po stopped wandering around the ruins in the village. Even though the villagers left in a hurry and left some things behind, when the people behind them arrived, they cleaned the place exceptionally clean.

Nothing was left except the ruins and tiles left on the ground.

However, for Li Po, trying to survive here is nothing.

Li Po went straight to the river. The ice on the river had frozen very thick overnight. Li Po walked onto the river and stamped his feet vigorously. He didn't hear any strange sounds. It didn't look very wide, but

There was absolutely no mention of the narrow river, so he grinned with satisfaction.

Then he returned to the river, picked up the stones that had been prepared, went to the middle of the river, lifted the quite heavy stones, and smashed the ice layer by blow.

After a while, he dug a medium-sized hole in the river.

The next step was to wait, and Li Po was not idle. He returned to the river bank, stretching his fists and kicking his feet until his muscles and bones were stretched and he was sweating lightly, then he stepped onto the ice again.

At this time, several frozen river fish were already lying near the dug hole in the ice.

Li Po smacked his lips, obviously very satisfied with the pure natural, pollution-free, and abundant fresh water resources in the river at this time of year.

Birds have disappeared from thousands of mountains, people have disappeared from thousands of paths, and a man with a coir raincoat is alone in a boat, fishing alone in the snow in the cold river...

Can we also be included in paintings? Li Po thought to himself as he neatly collected his catch, moved the stones back to the shore, and then braved the cold wind and returned to the village.

In fact, relying on this river and Li Po's ability to survive, he doesn't have to worry about drinking water and food. The only thing he lacks is salt. If it's not a cold winter, he can also use some salt-rich plants or insects to replace it.

, but it is not possible now. During the depression of all things, Li Po cannot even think about this.

I can only chew some pickled dried meat brought back from the north from time to time, but this is obviously not a long-term solution.

Li Po gradually became unbearable for being picky about food.

Returning to the place where he stayed, Li Po shook off the ice and snow. The fire was still on and the temperature was not low. He looked at Qingchun again. The child huddled up and was still in a drowsy sleep.

Li Po knew that if the fever did not subside after a day or two, then another ghost would be added to the gate of hell.

Adding some firewood to the fire, the broth in the pot exuded an attractive aroma.

Looking into the clay pot, Li Po thought regretfully that the soup was a little too old after all.

He put the clay pot aside to dry, and then threw a few eastern fish next to the stove, and they melted in a short time.

Li Po held a short knife, quickly cut open the belly and removed the scales, threaded a few fish into two skewers, put them on the fire, and sprinkled some seasonings from time to time. This was his meal.

When the broth in the clay pot was warm, Li Po helped Qingchun up and fed him bit by bit the broth in the clay pot.

Even though the doctor was already in a state of confusion, this child's appetite was not small at all. A can of broth went into his stomach while he was half asleep and half awake.

Li Po didn't put the child down until the broth was gone.

He was so busy before and didn't notice anything, but now Li Po was sweating profusely, cursing in his heart that this job of serving people is really not done by humans.

How come this day of being both a father and a mother has fallen on him, Li Po?

Sitting next to the fire, Li Po bit into the grilled fish fiercely, lamenting the wonders of the world while thinking about his next itinerary.

It was early winter, and the road was a bit difficult, but still bearable. If we waited for a while, it would take a lot of effort to reach the river, let alone a long journey.

Fortunately, the colder the weather, the cleaner it should be here...

"Don't abandon Xiaochun, Xiaochun can do any job..."

............

The child in his sleep kept mumbling something and began to turn around.

Li Po scratched his head, but moved his body and sat next to the child. The child miraculously curled up next to his legs, as if he had found support and settled down again.

An inexplicable feeling of happiness rippled in Li Po's heart. He lowered his head and looked at the child who was as dirty as himself and looked like a beggar. The lines on Li Po's face instantly became much softer.

"If we can survive... I hope the two of us can start well and end well..."

There is no doubt that this child's vitality is very strong.

In the evening of that day, the high fever subsided and Qingchun regained consciousness. If he could maintain such a body temperature for another day, his life would be saved.

(Haha, I had a lot of fun outing, and I went to Hohhot again. Are the book friends impatient to wait? So, Ah Cao postponed the annual meeting to ensure updates. By the way, the book review area needs administrators, old books

Friends can apply for it. Ah Cao also plans to set up a communication group, but I don’t have the time to pay too much attention, so I would like to trouble someone to set it up. If you are interested, you can contact Ah Cao in the book review area. Is it too much to ask? Haha.)
