Chapter 567: Rebellion

Nearly a minute after being rounded up, on the upper level of the hive city dozens of kilometers away from the starting point, the real world briefly fell apart, and a hole leading to the subspace suddenly opened.

Although there are surveillance equipment all over this place, none of them has raised an alarm about the subspace fluctuations here.

The warp rift appeared in a scriptorium on Central Avenue, south of the Mechanicus Church.

This scriptorium has long been closed. Rows of bookshelves filled with manuscripts stand in many dark rooms. The smell of paint and grease lingers among the crowded desks.

Suddenly, countless papers suddenly began to rustle, and the books and manuscripts piled on the bookshelves and long tables trembled. Some fell to the ground, and some suddenly opened, as if a breeze blew by, or the hand of an invisible scholar

Turning them over.

The locked bookcase containing the precious classics began to shake, and the chains and iron locks jingled, as if the rebellious books trapped inside wanted to break free from the cage, turn the pages into wings and fly to freedom.

Ultimately, it seems that it is the sheer volume of text concentrated here that attracts the wild gaze of the Warp, focusing it here.

Reality was torn apart, like a fruit torn into pieces by hungry hands, with broken threads on both sides of the tear and split into two like silk, as if it were a mouth or a wound.

Then, the light surged like uncondensed blood.

The appearance of reality is split by a jagged scar, and a sharp ax sticks out from the other end.

The real space on both sides of the ax blade opened outwards like flesh and blood on the dissecting table. A foul breeze poured into the writing room, rolling the fallen papers into the air. The entire room was quickly filled with a blizzard of pages.

Then, a figure stepped out of the gap.

He was huge and fully armed. The battle ax in his hand shone with light, and the essence of subspace slowly dripped from the blade.

The second figure came one after another, but it was just a mortal.

He seemed unprepared, almost trembling as he stepped over the gap in reality, and then fell to his knees, shaking the wooden floor of the scriptorium.

Pages covered with text were flying around him, some of them beginning to burn.

When a mortal travels through the subspace with his body, there is a 100% chance that there will be no good end, but he was unscathed, of course, thanks to the blessings of those around him.

While Sorge was trembling all over, he used his free hand to touch the silk scarf covering his eyes.

Precisely because he insisted on doing this, he didn't see anything during the crossing, but he felt enough things.

This was definitely not an experience he wanted to repeat, and he couldn't understand how his master could accept such feelings.

When he raised his hand to take off his blindfold, the painful experience just now finally swept him away completely.

Sorge fell to the ground and began to vomit.

Foul-smelling bile spurted from his mouth and splashed on the floor between his hands.

He lay on the ground in humiliation and gasped loudly, burning confetti fell like snowflakes, and the scar in the physical world behind him closed with a trembling, and the evil light disappeared.

The burning papers flying around gradually slowed down their frantic dance, falling to the ground as the breeze faded.

"Is this it?"

Kayon asked softly, wiping the substance off the battle ax with his palm.

"Yes--"

Sorge answered with difficulty. He was still lying on the ground and vomiting out the bile in his throat.

When he was about to stand up, he suddenly shivered and started vomiting again.

Khayon glanced at him, and then used spiritual energy to brush his servant's brain nerves, erasing those adverse reactions.

Sorge finally stood up.

"Thank you...Thank you, Master."

He gasped, trying to regain his composure. Even with Kayon's help, he still felt empty inside and had a disgusting taste in his mouth.

"This place looks safe."

"That's not good to say."

Kayon shook his head.

"time to go."

After that, the two people quickly left the scriptorium, and then hurriedly walked through the alleys of the upper hive in the thick night.

These alleys are old but well-maintained. The drainage systems on both sides extend in all directions under the neat streets paved with stone slabs. Occasionally, light shines through the drainage ditch grates, and that is often the light of fire.

"There are still two hundred meters ahead."

Sorge has been faithfully performing his duties and leading the way for Khayon.

"I really didn't expect that the Astral Knights would react so quickly. Originally, I expected that even if they were discovered, it would take at least three to four hours..."

Along the way, Sorge was saying some self-blaming words in an annoyed tone, but Kayon remained silent the whole time.

Suddenly, he stopped.

In front of them was the Mechanicus church, but in appearance, it was closer to a factory. The thirty-meter-high factory building looked like a giant starfish.

A wide drainage network surrounds the area, draining the wastewater produced inside. The intersections of those pipes are all spherical, and the foul-smelling black sewage is rippling inside.

There was no one here except for the crackling sound of the huge torch burning.

"Owner?"

Sorge heard the footsteps behind him stop and turned around.

But the moment he turned around, his neck was strangled and his whole body was hoisted into the air.

"when?"

Sorge's legs and hands were shaking constantly, and the pressure on his neck made his entire face turn red. He murmured for a long time, unable to speak a complete sentence.

Then, Kayon slightly strengthened his hand, and the opponent's bones immediately made a bursting sound.

"What price did they offer? Is it worth your life and loyalty in exchange?"

Under the helmet, Kayon's expression was completely invisible, but his voice was as cold as ice.

"You know what happens to betrayers."

"Oh, of course he knows."

Suddenly, a voice behind him said.

In an instant, Khayon turned around with superhuman speed to search for the source of the sound.

At the same time, he drew out his bolt pistol quickly and swept across it, aiming at any exact target.

A Space Marine wearing silver-gray armor and a helmet with lightning-shaped tears on his face appeared from the corner of a pipe made of stone bricks, with a bolt pistol in each hand.

"Sorry I'm late."

he said cheerfully, and then opened fire.

"Hello, Magnus's traitorous son."

Khayon only fired once, but the opponent's bullet had already hit his shoulder, causing his aim to completely miss.

And the infernal bomb he shot

Hit a statue not far away.

In response, the sudden appearance of the Astral Knight tore at Khayon's body with barrage, and bullets roared like raindrops, but Khayon calmly held up a soul shield.

The hail of bullets hit the shield, with some parts exploding directly, while others changed direction and densely dotted the surrounding walls.

Taking this opportunity, Sorge broke free and hurriedly dove into the sewage to escape.
