Chapter 678 Mysterious Statue

While sailing deep underground, everyone was ready to rest and recuperate.

The White Temple's termite boring machine is almost as big as a small landing craft, and even if two squads of warriors are crammed into it, it won't look cramped.

There is no distinction between day and night underground, but every morning, warriors train in the makeshift training ground, fighting sword against sword.

This time Soshyan not only brought the warriors of the Astral Knights, but also some warriors of the White Templar. On the No. 1 unit he was riding, there were teams from two battle groups.

He would occasionally watch the warriors compete in silence, and the warriors from different war groups would cheer loudly for every subtle or fierce blow. They appreciated the battle impartially, and not just cheered for the warriors of their own war group, any time.

The powerful moves will make their blood boil, and Soshyan likes this very much.

Of course, Soshyan will not be idle, but the only one who can spar with him is the mysterious Talos.

Whenever they were dueling, Talos would start telling wisecracks to distract Soshyan, an ancient trick.

"I like that snow lotus knife."

Taking advantage of the gap between the swords clashing, Talos said to Soshyan.

"What?"

"I like that sword, and I want to get it. Since the holy sword broke, I haven't had a weapon for a long time."

Like most Astartes, Soshyan has a poor sense of humor. In fact, he has had no sense of humor since he was a child.

"Speaking of that sword, what is its origin? Why does Loken say he can't repair it?"

Talos chuckled softly.

"It's nothing special. One day, I was lying on a pile of corpses, and when I woke up, I was holding some bastard's sword in my hand."

He retreated as he spoke, intending to take a breather while Soshyan spoke.

But Soshyan did not let him get what he wanted. Instead, he chased after him and struck his sword blade hard, causing a burst of applause.

"Be serious."

Talos chuckled lightly, pointed the tip of his sword directly at Soshyan, and then rushed over.

He moved so fast that Soshyan almost didn't see him leave the spot and seemed to turn into a shadow.

If it were other warriors, they would certainly not be able to compete with the Prophet, but Soshyan could.

Even without using the power of Gray Marrow, he was already familiar with the Eighth Legion's martial arts and attack patterns relying on his sparring experience with Sevatar, but Talos was a bit more special because he had the ability to foresee.

In Talos's world, various images violently impacted his visual cortex, as hard as nails.

He foresaw the opponent's actions before Soshyan even swung his sword, so he launched an attack towards the future, but the long sword was blocked by another sword.

But Soshyan's counterattack failed him, and he deflected it with his sword, and then the next blow, and the next.

Whenever he saw an opportunity, Soshyan immediately sealed it, and when Soshyan stabbed him on the move, Talos appeared elsewhere.

The two fought around a small arena, engaging in hand-to-hand combat at a speed far beyond what ordinary people could see. Both sides were predicting and capturing the enemy's next move, and launching appropriate counterattacks.

One relied on experience and the other relied on foresight. They fought for a long time, but no one had the upper hand.

So Talos came up with his usual tricks.

"You've made such rapid progress that it almost makes me ashamed."

"Ha, I know, you didn't mean anything, otherwise your sword would have seen blood."

"Do you know me so well already?"

Talos muttered. He bit the sword tighter and tighter. The two fought face to face for a few seconds, and then Soshyan pushed him a few meters away.

The fight still continues.

Five minutes later, without warning, Talos suddenly said.

"You have to be careful with the Blood Angels this time."

He was indeed a cunning guy, and Soshyan almost laid down his weapon.

"Why?"

"They are not an easy group of guys to get along with, and their mental state is very unstable."

"I know, black rage and blood thirst."

"It's more than that."

Talos grinned.

"Their characters have great flaws, and they have been immersed in sadness about the past. What do you say, huh? Turn grief into art, but unfortunately it is the art of self-pity."

He didn't wait for Soshyan to answer, and then asked:

"Do you know who their current Chapter Master is?"

"Dante, the most legendary hero of the empire, has lived for more than a thousand years."

"I know this. His prestige is so high. Once you get here, your command may not be guaranteed. You have to be prepared."

"If this journey goes well, then there is nothing wrong with handing over command."

After the two separated again, they were both breathing heavily, and the blades of the two training swords became scarred and almost unusable.

At this time, Soshyan saw Judge Angelica standing at the hatch with his peripheral vision, looking at them with interest. Then he seemed to notice Soshyan's gaze, shook his head and left.

"That disgusting woman was peeking just now."

"She just glanced at it."

"I can kill her."

"No."

Soshyan said sincerely.

"If you do this, we will be in a lot of trouble in the future, I have a feeling."

"Have you not noticed that she has been sneaky during this period? She has been trying to spy on our secrets. Whether it is your side, my side, or even the White Temple's side, she wants to have a hand in it."

The suspicion in Talos's voice sounded so real that Soshyan took a step back to let him relax. This was a topic worth discussing at length.

But the next moment, an elbow hit Soshyan hard on the chin, and he was knocked directly to the deck.

"It's so simple."

Talos showed a sly smile and said in a low voice:

"Savitar still hasn't told you, don't believe any of the Nightborne's emotional expressions. This is how we fight. What do you think?"

Soshyan grinned, held the other person's hand and stood up.

"I understand."

At this time, a soldier suddenly walked in.

Soon, they reached the upper hatch of the tunnel boring machine. Now it was sailing on the water like a ship. When Soshyan opened the hatch, the moist air immediately hit his face.

It was pitch black outside, and the water was also pitch black. The four tunnel boring machines were like big fish in black waters, causing ripples in the calm water.

When Soshyan and Talos climbed out of the hatch, the searchlight on the hatch rail also turned on immediately.

The strong light tore through the darkness, revealing smooth rock walls on both sides. The rock walls were covered with dark green moss. The entire passage was more than two hundred meters wide, and there were extremely obvious man-made traces.

But that's not the point. The searchlight finally focused on a statue. Half of the statue was in the water, with only the upper body above the water. It could be seen that it was a green-skinned giant wearing armor. It was carved lifelike, even on its face.

That domineering and destructive desire were all on display.

Considering the depth of the water here, the height of this statue is over one hundred meters!

"Is this... made of green leather?"

Soshyan was confused because he had never heard of greenskins having such artistic attainments.

"It's hard to tell."

Talos' tone was also very uncertain.

"Wait a minute, this statue—"

Soshyan suddenly noticed another detail. Under the mottled and corroded appearance, a patch of white could be vaguely seen.

“Why is it white??”

Talos also looked at the statue with interest.

"Indeed, I remember that the aesthetics of those beasts are basically red, blue, green and yellow, and I have almost never seen them make anything white."

Soshyan thought, and then said in an uncertain tone:

"Statues are generally used to commemorate or highlight someone. In other words, this thing is probably made in the form of a certain green-skinned leader. The use of white color is also in accordance with its requirements?"

No one can answer.
