Chapter 18: Fried Mushrooms

No matter how chaotic the Li family is, it has nothing to do with Shen Yue and the others.

At 10 o'clock in the morning, the ox cart arrived at Qingshui Town.

Without Aunt Li who was looking for trouble, Aunt Chen, Aunt Gu and Shen Yue chatted happily on the road. After getting to know Shen Yue, they actually felt like they had met so late.

This child was not at all arrogant and domineering as others said. Instead, he was very submissive. He cared about his mother-in-law regardless of his own discomfort along the way, and Qingjiu's mother also loved Mrs. Shen as much as her own daughter.

The two aunts made up their minds to spend more time with the Luo family after returning.

When we arrived in the town, everyone went off to do their own things, and agreed to meet here at 1:10 p.m. in the afternoon.

Qin Li was on his way to deliver wood, and the two aunties were selling home-grown vegetables at the east end of the market.

The area for selling dry goods was in the middle of the market. When Shen Yue and Luo Mu arrived, they realized that setting up a stall still required stall fees.

Fortunately, the two aunts hadn't gone far yet. When they heard that Shen Yue and the others had not checked in for the stall, they took them to the end of the street to check in.

Luo Mu and Shen Yue rented a stall for five cents. To express their gratitude, Shen Yue took out two packaged portions of stir-fried mushrooms and handed them to the two aunts so that they could try their craftsmanship.

"How can this happen? It's just a matter of effort."

"That's right, it's just a casual thing."

The two aunts refused, carrying baskets and making gestures to leave.

Shen Yue took advantage of the two of them being unprepared, stuffed the perilla bag containing mushrooms into the baskets of the two aunts, pulled Luo Mu and ran away.

"Aunts, try it. This is the stir-fried mushroom I made myself. It's very fresh."

By the time the two aunts reacted, Shen Yue and Luo Mu had already run away.

Aunt Chen's wife whirled the fragrant perilla buns and said to Aunt Chu, "Yue'er is a thoughtful child."

"Yes, let's accept Yue'er's suggestion. When we return to the village, we can also let our children try our craftsmanship." Aunt Gu's wife agreed.

The two aunts looked at each other and smiled, walked to the stall and began to place fresh vegetables.

Aunt Chen's family sells cucumbers and carrots grown at home, while Aunt Gu's sells cabbage and water spinach. They don't affect each other, so they sell them at a stall they rent together.

Aunt Chen's wife didn't have time to eat when she got up early. After setting the dishes, she saw the perilla buns in the basket and swallowed her saliva.

Unable to hold it back, Aunt Chen opened the perilla leaves, and the delicious mushroom flavor mixed with a hint of meat came to her face.

There were no chopsticks around, so Aunt Chen bit a mushroom directly from the perilla leaves.

Fragrant! It’s really fragrant!

Aunt Gu's family smelled the smell and came over, "What Yue'er is cooking are stir-fried mushrooms? It's too fragrant."

Aunt Chen's mouth was chewing delicious mushrooms and she nodded at Aunt Gu.

Aunt Gu swallowed hard when she saw it, and she opened the perilla bag like Aunt Chen, biting off the perilla leaves.

After taking this bite, Aunt Gu's eyes lit up. The toughness of the mushroom and the unique frying method made it taste like eating meat!

You must know that this year's harvest is not good, and people in eight nearby villages have not had meat for almost half a year.

The aroma caused people around to stop and gather in front of the stall.

"Sister, what are you selling? How fragrant is it?"

"Sister, how much do you sell this for? Give me one!"

"Mom, I want to eat too! I want to eat too!"

A group of people in front of the stall were asking questions, and even a three-year-old child was pestering his mother to buy it for him.

This confused Aunt Gu. She couldn't even eat enough of the stir-fried mushrooms given by Yue'er, so how could she sell them to others?

"We don't sell this."

As soon as she finished speaking, Aunt Gu had another thought: Yue'er went into town today carrying a basket on her back, so she must have a lot of things to sell.

He quickly said to the disappointed people, "This is made by our little girl from Guyang Village. Their stall is in the middle of the market. If you like it, you can go and ask."

When everyone heard that there was something for sale in the middle of the market, they all went to the middle of the market.
