Chapter 7: Zhiyao who made a lot of money

Lao Tzu has not yet written any works, and more than 80% of the knowledge he has learned comes from the classics in the Zhou royal family's collection.

At present, there are actually not many classics in the Zhou royal family's collection, and most of them were taken away to Chu State by the princes.

The Emperor of Zhou asked other countries more than once for help in recovering the classics in Chu. Unfortunately, the princes agreed but took no practical action at all.

In the past, because the Jin State needed to borrow the banner of Emperor Zhou, it would often meet the demands of the Emperor of Zhou. Later, the Jin State gave up continuing to fight with the Chu State to the death. While maintaining its status as the overlord of the Central Plains, more of its energy was used internally.

Fight.

Currently, the country of Wu is striving to gain recognition from other countries as its hegemony. They successfully defeated Chu in 515 BC and forced Chu to move their capital in 505 BC. Since then, Wu has been in the limelight for a while, but it is still

Not many vassal states recognized Wu's hegemony.

"Sun Changqing (Sun Wu) and Wu Yuan (Wu Zixu) were all ministers of Wu. The state of Wu defeated Chu, annexed the state of Xu, Zhongwu, and Huaiyi, and conquered the west and south to achieve constant victory. The new 'bo' in the south must be the state of Wu."

Confucius said.

"Bo" is the same as "Ba". In the Spring and Autumn Period, "Bo" meant the boss, and when used in the country, it generally referred to the overlord.

When they talked about this, it was mainly because Zhiyao decided today's topic from the beginning.

Guests do as they please!

Lao Tzu started the lecture, and later Confucius, who was very expressive, took the lead.

In the past twenty or thirty years, Wu State was really very powerful and repeatedly defeated Chu State, the then southern hegemon.

There were many factors that enabled the rise of the Wu State. The most important thing was that Wu Zixu fled from the Chu State to the Wu State, and later introduced Sun Wu to King Helu of Wu. After that, the Wu State completely rose.

Confucius also said: "Wu had no 'propriety' and used much deceit. His rise was inevitable, but his demise was sudden."

Yes, in an era when everyone was still pursuing "gentleman's war", Wu State never cared about that. It got the soldier sage who yelled "soldiers are deceitful". It was a perfect match!

Sun Wu was actually a member of the Tian family of the Qi State. His grandfather Tian Shu performed meritorious service during the Qi State's attack on the Ju State and obtained the fiefdom "Sun". He got his family name from the fiefdom.

Tian Shu's son Sun Ping did not make any achievements later. By the time Sun Wu's generation was completely unable to survive in Qi State, Sun Wu, who was self-taught, traveled around and met Wu Zixu, who was still an aristocrat of Chu State at that time. Later, Wu Zixu asked King Helu of Wu

He recommended Sun Wu seven times in a row.

Now, everyone in the world except Wu State not only has a bad impression of Wu State, but also dislikes Sun Wu very much.

The reason is that Sun Wu used all possible means to achieve his goals, and his character was completely ruined.

What really disgusted the world happened in 506 BC. Sun Wu and Wu Zixu commanded the Wu army to attack Ying, the capital of Chu State, and then dug out the coffin of the King of Chu and whipped the corpse.

By the way, Zhiyao is no longer in "Luoyi". He invited Laozi to Jin and invited Confucius. As a result, not only Confucius was willing to be a guest in Jin, but also three other people who could participate in the academic exchanges between Laozi and Confucius also followed.

Came to the Kingdom of Jin.

Zhiyao took them to "Huangfu", the fiefdom of the Zhi family, and did not take them directly to "Xintian".

This "Father Huang" is where Zhiyao has chosen to live for a long time. If nothing unexpected happens, he will stay for at least three years, and may stay for seven or eight years at most.

The reason why Zhiyao came to "Huangfu" was simple. He knew that there were quite a few open-pit coal mines, especially iron mines.

There are coal mines and iron mines. There is no need to say more about what Zhiyao wants to do, right?

I am happy not to live in "Xintian", so as not to feel sick after seeing too many "Qings" of the Jin Kingdom fighting against each other all day long.

Confucius regarded coming to "Huang Father" as a chance to form a good relationship.

Although the Jin State has been reduced from the "Hegemon of the World" to the status of just the "Hegemon of the Central Plains", and its status as the "Hegemon of the Central Plains" has been repeatedly challenged by Qi State, the Jin State may not be really that weak. It is purely internal fighting.

It's so serious that I can't afford to worry about foreign countries.

After returning home this time, Confucius wanted to do a big thing that he had wanted to do for a long time. He was not sure whether the monarch could protect him. What he thought about was whether he could find foreign aid. At first, he thought of asking Qi for help.

"Luoyi" met Zhiyao and thought it might be better to seek help from Jin.

So, what big thing did Confucius want to do after returning to China? He wanted to kill his long-standing rival Shaozhengmao.

"Shaozheng" is an official position, and "Mao" is a name. He is also a scholar and has always been in tit-for-tat with Confucius.

The two people's theories were similar but contradictory. As a result, Confucius's three thousand disciples often went to listen to Shaozhengmao's lectures, but when they came back, they would question Confucius about Shaozhengmao's knowledge.

This kind of prying at the corner rather than prying at the corner really angered Confucius, especially when Confucius felt that Shao Zhengmao was the spokesperson promoted by "Sanhuan" to compete with him.

Confucius himself hated some of Shao Zhengmao's teachings, and he was a political enemy. How could he not kill him?

"The struggle between Wu and Yue has appeared. Chu and Qi may be able to take a breather, but Jin will have many things to do." Confucius said.

The State of Jin is far away in the Central Plains, while the State of Wu is located in the southeast. The two countries are not bordering each other. How come there are so many things going on in the State of Jin?

Speaking of which, the Jin State played an indispensable role in the rise of Wu State, and the old wise men also contributed a lot.

About sixty years ago, Zhiying first put forward the suggestion to strengthen the Wu State, in order to allow the Wu State to contain the Chu State in the southeast and help the Jin State gain hegemony.

The Jin State repeatedly sent nobles to the Wu State to teach them knowledge, with the intention of bringing the ignorant Wu State into the cultural circle.

At that time, the State of Wu was repeatedly defeated by the State of Chu. In a few years, three generations of Wu kings were killed on the battlefield with the Chu army. A nobleman who fled from the State of Chu to the State of Jin...that is, Shen Gong Wuchen fought for the State of Wu.

It has made great efforts to survive.

Well now! When the Wu State became the master of Fucha, they forgot about the favor of the Jin State. They defeated the Chu State in succession, annexed many countries, and felt that they had become quite powerful. While they invaded the Yue State repeatedly, they attacked the Jin State from a distance.

The country is calling for a fight to decide who is the real world hegemon.

Zhiyao motioned to the twenty or so schoolmates aged between thirteen and fifteen to listen carefully.

The schoolmates who were too young didn’t come because they couldn’t understand it at all, and it was very likely to have the opposite effect.

This group of teenagers between the ages of thirteen and fifteen are one of the people Zhiyao wants to train. In recent days, they have followed Zhiyao repeatedly to listen to lectures by Laozi and Confucius.

Understanding the situation in the world is a very high-end class, let alone 501 BC, even in modern times. It can be said to be a required course for those who are destined to gain power.

Confucius did not object at all to Zhiyao bringing so many people to attend the lecture. On the contrary, he felt very happy.

He is such a person who likes to teach others. He likes to give lectures wherever he goes, usually about "etiquette". Today, Zhiyao strongly requested to talk about the world situation.

Understanding the world's situation can broaden your horizons. When the situation is bigger, your thinking space will naturally be wider when thinking about certain things.

If you know who famous people are and what they have done, you will have something to refer to when making decisions when you encounter the same thing.

A group of teenagers listened very attentively. Are they... or including Zhiyao, listening to Confucius's lectures considered disciples? If they want to, they can, but if they don't want to, they don't have to.

Confucius had his own disciples in his entourage. There was a man named Zhong Yu who occasionally talked about military knowledge, and a man named Duanmu Ci who also talked about merchants.

Zhiyao didn't actually recognize Zhong Yu and Duan Mu Ci when they first heard their names. Later, after they called each other "Zi", she realized that Zhong Yu was Zi Lu and Duan Mu Ci was Zigong.

No way, the names of historical celebrities in history books or other works may not be consistent with their real names. Especially in the Spring and Autumn Period, when there were surnames, surnames, given names, and titles, they were called differently by different people on different occasions.

How could Confucius allow Zilu and Zigong to give lectures on military matters and merchant affairs? There is nothing special about it. Confucius never stopped his disciples from having their own partial subjects, and they should not misinterpret "propriety" and "benevolence".

Just "righteousness" and other related knowledge taught by Confucius himself would be fine.

Zhiyao was very greedy for Zilu and asked, "Would Ji Lu be willing to stay in Jin and become my 'family doctor'?"

This "family official" is a retainer.

Zilu could tell that Zhiyao was very greedy for him, so he refused without thinking: "I only want to serve 'Master' Kong Zuo."

In Spring and Autumn, people who can be teachers are extremely talented, and they are highly respected by people all over the world.

There is nothing wrong with Zilu calling Zong "Shi Kong", it is still the honorific title he deserves.

Zhiyao found another opportunity to ask Zigong the same question.

Zigong said directly: "That's why I don't dare to invite you!"

good!

Can’t you keep a great military expert? If you can keep a business genius, that’s a good thing!

What Zhiyao didn't know was that Zigong was not only good at business, he was also a powerful man in politics.

Therefore, Zhiyao is not only making money, but being able to keep Zigong to work for him will definitely make a lot of money!!!

Confucius was also very happy when he later learned that Zigong would stay in Jin and become a retainer of the Zhi family.

Confucius thought: "I just have to do something big when I go back, and I have been given the gift of being an official in Jin Dynasty, Zhishi, who can help me!"
