Chapter Fifty-six: Startling every step of the way

Soon, Peter followed Ivanovich to the place where he was being held. Being invited in by the mysterious office was not in an ordinary palace.

This can be said to be a separate place, deep underground, but still dry, and there is no bloody smell. Peter is very satisfied.

The Patriarch walked in front at first, but he didn't know the place, so he had to follow Ivanovich who led the way.

Then the three of them met the archbishop.

Although the Archbishop was not punished, he was indeed held where prisoners should be. -

The first time Peter saw the archbishop, he looked pale and looked lonely, but this was not the first time that Metzjevich saw Peter.

He had seen it during the enthronement ceremony held in the Cathedral of the Assumption. When he saw His Majesty coming, and also the Patriarch, he couldn't help but get excited, and he was immediately filled with fighting spirit.

Mecijevich stood up from where he was sitting, came to the cell where his movements were restricted, and said loudly:

"Your Majesty! Your Majesty! The Patriarch! Ivanovich is guilty! He detained the Archbishop without authorization and must be severely punished!!!"

"You still haven't released the people yet?"

Peter said something and sat down on a clean chair that someone immediately put down next to him.

Following the emperor's order, the guards guarding the archbishop immediately opened the cell. The archbishop, still wearing the Orthodox vestments, came out and first greeted the patriarch, and then saluted Peter.

The patriarch's face looked better. In any case, the emperor let him go as soon as he came, which made people feel relieved.

The Patriarch also slowly showed a smile, Peter said:

"Didn't you see that these two elderly people are very old? Why don't you show me your seats?"

Immediately, someone brought stools for the Patriarch and Mezyjevich to sit down.

Mecijevich glanced at Ivanovich, who was standing next to His Majesty, and was quite proud of this treatment.

Peter said to Adrian:

"Patriarch, if you have any misunderstandings, just ask here. Wouldn't it be a good thing to resolve the problem here?"

Adrian nodded, feeling that it made sense.

Ivanovich had been speaking before, and he wanted to hear what the archbishop had to say.

Adrian looked at Mezyjevich. Mezyjevich hesitated for a moment, but when he saw the Patriarch here, he suddenly became more courageous and said:

"Your Majesty, I came to the palace this time to find the Privy Council. But as soon as I talked to Bestudev, Bestudev kicked me out and said that this was not his responsibility and asked me to find Ivano.

Vicki, then I went to find Ivanovich, but he arrested me before I could say a few words."

"Your Majesty, this is not Ivanovich using his power at will based on your trust. You must punish him severely!"

Mecijevich's tone became higher and higher as he spoke, appearing very angry.

Peter was noncommittal, looked at the Patriarch and said with a smile:

"What do you think?"

Adrian frowned slightly. He was able to become the Patriarch and outlast Empress Anna. The Duchess of Mecklenburg was obviously a little smart. He heard what Mezjevich said was unclear.

Adrian said:

"Bishop, please tell me clearly. Why did you go to the Privy Council and what did you say? Come on now, I don't want to hear unfair words from others."

Mecijevich hesitated for a moment, but when he thought of his firm belief in the Virgin, he seemed to gain strength and said directly:

"Patriarch, Your Majesty, I think there is something wrong with the decree of Our Lady!"

In one sentence, Adrian was stunned for a moment. He had heard of this law, but only from hearings. What was wrong with it?

No matter what the Patriarch and Metzjevich said, Ivanovich's expression did not change. When he heard this sentence, a flash of sarcasm flashed in his eyes, but it disappeared in an instant, and then his whole person seemed to become

The silent stone.

"oh?"

Peter was a little surprised, then smiled and said:

"Archbishop, do you have any objections to the decree? Is there anything wrong with it?"

Mezievich said:

"Yes, Your Majesty! I wonder if you have read the details of the Virgin Mary's decree. The compiler was not well-intentioned. In the hymn section, he wrote a hymn to the two majesties, but did not mention the Virgin Mary at all. Isn't this unfair?

OK?"

After Mecijevich finished speaking, Peter turned over the Holy Mother's decree in his hand and then handed it to Adrian.

Adrian took it and looked through it.

Soon he saw the specific content and then said:

"Emperor, it is indeed true. I think what Mezjevich said is right. It is very inappropriate that the word "Mother of the Holy Mother" is not mentioned throughout the decree."

Peter glanced at the two of them and said slowly:

"Patriarch, Bishop, I have just read the details of the Marian Decree. What you do is completely secular, and it has nothing to do with whether you mention Our Lady."

"Furthermore, although Our Lady is not mentioned in the decree, this functional department is called Notre Dame, and the decree is also called Our Lady's Decree. There is no need to worry about this."

Mecijevich shook his head and said:

"Otherwise, Your Majesty, I have visited the orphanage under the jurisdiction of Notre Dame. Orthodox nuns are used in it. If this is the case, Notre Dame should be affiliated with the church, not the Privy Council."

Hearing what Mecijevich said, Adrian's eyelids couldn't help but twitch. For some reason, he suddenly had an ominous premonition.

Peter felt a little thirsty, so he was brought tea, and he took a sip to moisten his throat. Then he glanced at Ivanovich and said with a smile:

"Ivanovich, do you think Notre Dame should belong to the church?"

Ivanovich stood up, his voice as cold as ice, and every word exuded a chill:

"Your Majesty, what Notre Dame does is secular affairs. If Notre Dame belongs to the church, then why should the Privy Council not belong to the church? Even when your majesty and the queen ascend the throne, and the choice of the next emperor, of course the church will have to intervene."

"shut up!"

Adrian snapped.

He knew where his fright came from. This matter seemed not simple.

How could he allow Ivanovich to continue talking?

Adrian's face looked extremely ugly.

"Your Majesty, all I said was that Notre Dame should be affiliated with..."

Mecijevich was still struggling with what Ivanovich said, and Adrian was already cursing in his heart.

Adrian felt that this matter could no longer be discussed. During the period of Queen Elizabeth, although the Queen was very devout to the Orthodox Church, it was towards the Blessed Mother, and she also had issues with the church.

But he blocked them all.

But now, what does Peter want to do?

"His Majesty……"

Adrian opened his mouth to speak, and Peter smiled:

"Patriarch, since the matter is caused by the bishop and Ivanovich, you might as well continue talking. The reason is unclear."

Seeing Peter smiling harmlessly, Adrian thought of Peter peeing on his bed.

And since the emperor had spoken, it was impossible for him not to let the two of them speak.
