Chapter Thirty-One: The Maid Who Infiltrated the Palace
The guards suddenly became alert, and one guard went to check.
After returning and reporting that it was a palace maid, Peter walked in.
But when he turned the corner, he saw a somewhat familiar face and couldn't help but be startled.
The girl with the big face that I saw just yesterday, rushed to his carriage?
Seeing her clothes, Peter immediately became vigilant. Yesterday, this girl was wearing foreign clothes, but now, she was wearing the clothes of a Russian palace maid!
The girl also looked at Peter blankly, and was about to say something when Peter immediately stepped back and ordered:
"Get her!"
Immediately, the guards rushed over and pushed the girl to the ground.
Adelaide simply couldn't believe that someone would dare to treat a lady so roughly.
She thought Peter looked familiar just now. He seemed to be the knight she had taken a fancy to yesterday, but there was something different. The one yesterday was thinner than this one, and he was not so magnanimous.
However, compared to being pushed down when they met now, she preferred the one yesterday!
hateful!
Adelaide twisted and struggled on the ground unwillingly, feeling as if her chest was about to be crushed.
Seeing that the girl couldn't resist, Peter felt a little relieved. He had seen her strength yesterday.
Even if she was caught off guard, she could rush past Mirkovsky to the carriage, and even jump directly on to shake the carriage. Although she was young, she already showed the charm of a muscular woman.
He didn't want to fall into the hands of a girl.
Then Peter searched her body to make sure there was no murder weapon, and then asked:
"Tell me, why did you, a foreigner, sneak into the palace?"
When these words were said, the guards were all surprised. They only caught the girl because of His Highness's order, but His Highness actually said that she was a foreigner?
But she was wearing Russian court clothes.
One of the guards immediately looked at the hem of the skirt that extended to the ankles, where it had turned up. What made his pupils shrink was that there was a specific mark of the Russian court on the inside of the skirt!
The other guards also looked over and their expressions changed.
Like the palace guards, the clothes of the palace maids have specific markings to prevent outsiders from impersonating them just by changing their clothes.
But now this dress is obviously from the palace. Coupled with the girl's figure and age, it is likely that it was tailor-made and marked with the palace mark. But according to His Highness, she is a foreigner...
That a foreigner could actually do this is astonishing!
This is definitely not something she can do alone!
"Should we notify the mysterious office?"
The guard immediately reported the news solemnly.
Peter glanced at the girl and felt that the girl seemed familiar to him, but he couldn't remember her.
He said calmly:
"No, let's interrogate first."
The guards took orders:
"yes!"
Peter looked down at the girl:
"Tell me, you, a foreigner, pretended to be a maid and ran into the palace. What did you want to do, assassinate me?"
Adelaide was very angry. When had she ever been treated like this?
But when he thought that he had escaped secretly and that his sister was planning something shameful, he had no choice but to swallow his anger and say:
"I'm not a foreigner, I'm an orthodox Russian!"
Not only Peter didn't believe this, but the guards didn't believe it either. It was better not to speak. Which Russian would speak Russian with an exotic accent?
Peter laughed:
"Are you Russian? But when I saw you yesterday, why were you wearing foreign clothes?"
Adelaide's eyes suddenly widened and she looked at Peter in disbelief.
yesterday?
Is he really the same person yesterday?
But why did her feeling change so drastically overnight, even though it was subtle?
This man was not tall and tall, but compared with yesterday, standing there simply, he looked like a green pine.
And his manners are impeccable.
Adelaide lost her voice and said:
"Are you the man who sat in the carriage yesterday? Deputy editor-in-chief of the St. Petersburg News of the Academy of Sciences?"
"Exactly."
Peter's answer made Adelaide almost vomit blood. Yesterday, she wanted to find this person, let him be her knight, and fight across the sea under her leadership, but she turned around and ended up like this?
It's a little embarrassing.
The situation is stronger than the people, Adelaide said weakly:
"Well, you...can you let me go...you really misunderstood me..."
Peter said:
"No, tell me your plot and who else is instigating you behind the scenes. If I am satisfied, I will not send you to the mysterious office, otherwise the consequences will be serious."
Adelaide struggled again, but she couldn't get away at all. She persisted and said:
"You really misunderstood, I am really a Russian! Who said Russians can't wear foreign clothes?"
Peter sneered and was about to say something when he suddenly froze.
He finally thought about why this face was so familiar.
