Religious innovation involves many things, which cannot be explained clearly in a few words. This is especially troublesome for a sect like Taoism, which has many related classics.
Moreover, this reform of Zixiaoguan is not just a patchwork, but a complete rebirth.
Not to mention anything else, just revising the classics is a tedious task. It can be completed in one or two years, not to mention one month.
It would be okay if Taoism was a completely original religion, and you could just change it according to your own wishes.
But there is still Taoism behind it. When revising classics, Taoism must be considered. If the revision is not good, Taoism will definitely be the first to stand up and oppose it.
With this constraint in place, innovation is destined to be a long process.
Chen Jingke could not complete this work alone, and even Sun Simiao could not do it. It must be done by everyone.
All they have to do is draw up a framework, then give the work to their allies, and let them install their own classics according to this framework.
He had already discussed this framework with Sun Simiao before.
However, in order to show respect for our allies, we took it out and discussed it item by item with Pan Shizheng, Tian Shiwen, Cheng Xuanying and others.
As the saying goes, you can tell whether a mule or a horse is out and about. This discussion highlighted the ability of Pan Shizheng and others, and they did put forward many pertinent opinions.
Pan Shizheng and others were also greatly shocked. At the same time, they felt like they were enlightened, and they had the idea that things could still be done this way, and the scriptures could still be interpreted this way.
For example, regarding the theory of transcending the world and joining the world, the Taoist view of transcending the world is an extension of the Taoist thought of governing by doing nothing.
Chen Jingke solved this problem with a sentence from the Tao Te Ching: Tao always does nothing but does nothing.
Do everything in line with the Tao. This is what Lao Tzu himself said.
Taoism uses "Tao" to educate and save all sentient beings, and we also practice "Tao", so we have to join the world to save all living beings.
Here he also drew on Mencius's idea that if you are poor, you can only take care of yourself, and if you are prosperous, you can help the world. As a Taoist, we are the "experts" and naturally have to shoulder our due responsibilities.
What's more, he also inserted a concept, that all living beings are equal... Although it is a Buddhist idea, it is indeed excellent, and there is no problem in using it.
It's just here that he gave another explanation for the origin of "all living beings are equal": Laozi said that the world is unkind and treats all things as suckers.
Since everyone is a loser, they are equal.
This radical thought was naturally questioned by everyone, but Chen Jingke stopped them with one sentence: Buddhism dares to say it, why can't we Taoists say it?
In reality, there are three, six, and nine levels. If we are still divided into three, six, and nine levels in the religious world, then why are we still religious?
It is because there are things in religion that do not exist in reality that we believe in religion.
As soon as this statement came out, everyone stopped talking.
In fact, they are still ignorant. Go to Tianzhu and see the Tianzhu religion. They divide people into three, six or nine grades in an honest and fair manner, and cannot change it for generations. That is called level.
It took everyone ten days to finally finalize the framework.
The matter is not over yet. Next, we discussed something that is also very important to religion, the fasting ceremony.
Praying before meals, the way of praying, reciting God's blessings, blessings and blessings to the gods, celebrations of marriage and childbirth, etc., are all types of fasting rituals.
As mentioned before, the fasting ceremony of Zixiao Temple was modified by Chen Jingke with reference to the etiquette of many religions throughout the ages, and has been officially promoted to the world.
But at this time, we naturally have to consider the feelings of our allies and make some modifications and improvements.
The main changes are in ethics and funeral aspects. Gu Long
In terms of ethics and morality, Confucian ideas such as loyalty, filial piety, benevolence and righteousness are often borrowed, emphasizing loyalty and filial piety first.
Regarding funerals, simple burials and frugal burials are advocated.
Gold, silver, treasures, etc. are all human wealth and are used to benefit the world. Trying to take them to the underworld will damage your moral character.
The more treasures that are buried with you, the more negative virtue you will lose. It is very likely that your negative virtue will become negative and you will be tortured in the underworld. When you are reincarnated, you will be thrown into a poor home, or even be reincarnated as a beast.
However, the practice of burning paper money is affirmed here, which can be regarded as a way for everyone to express their grief.
Burial with sacrifice was also highlighted. Although the system of burial with sacrifice has been abolished, people are buried with people privately.
As a time traveler, Chen Jingke knows a truth very well. Kind words and advice are often ignored, while sometimes bad words and curses have the best effect.
For example, you are not allowed to take out the garbage, but you can still take out the garbage. If you change the slogan to a vicious curse such as "Take out the garbage as you should," it will be clean immediately.
The same is true for things like human sacrifice. The effect of persuasion is not obvious, so let's go straight to curse.
It is directly stated in the New Zhai Jiao Ceremony that using human beings to die is a heinous crime and will lead to the eighteenth level of hell, and will harm future generations.
I don’t know how big of an effect it can have, but even if one less person suffers as a result, it is considered a great merit.
During this period, everyone also took the time to learn about new medicine, and then they completely accepted the revision of the Alchemy Classic, and they were also convinced by Sun Simiao.
This is really digging the foundations and building a new medical palace.
Sun Simiao didn't say anything, but he felt very ashamed in his heart. He had taken the credit for his apprentice's achievements.
However, he had no intention of taking the initiative to clarify for his own pride. He did so to protect Chen Jingke, and no one would believe him even if he told him.
If you really feel embarrassed, just take good care of this stupid apprentice and pass everything on to him when you get old.
Why did Sun Simiao willingly let Chen Jingke inherit his clan? You must know that he had a son.
Although his son is addicted to monasticism and has not married yet, if he really wants to find someone to inherit the incense, he must first force his son to marry and have children, instead of finding an unrelated apprentice to inherit.
Is it just because of appreciation? This is impossible.
There are so many Taoist priests accepting disciples, why don’t others do the same?
The reason is very simple. Chen Jingke gave him the reputation that should have belonged to him without any grudge. Comparing himself with others, he was willing to give everything he had to Chen Jingke.
To put it bluntly, we should give to each other and help each other.
The matter of the New Alchemy Sutra was settled, and everyone discussed how to promote it.
At this time, news came from the printing house that the casting of the character blocks was completed ahead of schedule, and Chen Jingke was asked to check and accept it.
Chen Jingke's heart moved and he immediately invited everyone to the outer courtyard.
When they saw the densely packed 200,000-word blocks in the warehouse, everyone was shocked.
After knowing the usage of these word blocks, I couldn't help but admire Chen Jingke's whimsical ideas again.
Chen Jingke was still very proud, but he did not forget the purpose of coming here and said:
"The solution lies within. As long as we print enough books, all problems will be solved."
