0059 Learn three teachings

The vivid metaphor allowed more people to understand what the "three selves" are. While everyone was delighted and shocked, they finally accepted the reality that this little Taoist priest possessed knowledge that was not commensurate with his age.

"Amitabha." Fa Lin recited the Buddha's name, clasped her hands together, bowed solemnly to Chen Jingke, and said, "Thank you, fellow Taoist, for your guidance. Listening to your words is worth ten years of reading the scriptures. The poor monk has learned from me."

Chen Jingke didn't dare to really accept this gift. Just when he was about to reply politely, he heard a familiar voice coming from behind him.

"Haha... It's just an ignorant child who shows off his knowledge without knowing the truth. He doesn't deserve such praise from the master." Before he finished speaking, Sun Simiao walked out of the door.

"Master, you are here." Chen Jingke saluted.

"I've met Master Sun." Fa Lin also took the initiative to salute.

"I've met the master." Sun Simiao first returned the greeting, and then said to Chen Jingke: "The master is an eminent monk. I just asked you to give in and make you famous. I haven't even thanked the master."

Chen Jingke naturally knew this. Without Fa Lin's intention, he would never have had the opportunity to perform. He bowed and said, "Thank you, Master. I have offended you just now. I hope Master will forgive you."

Fa Lin shook her head and said, "It's because my Taoist friends are very knowledgeable, so I don't dare to take credit for it."

Then he said to Sun Simiao: "I have admired Master Sun for a long time. I wonder if I am lucky enough to be able to listen to his teachings?"

At this time, his attitude was in sharp contrast to the aggressiveness when he came. I had no choice but to ask him three questions, which shocked me too much.

If the disciples are like this, how powerful should the master be?

He is not the kind of person who looks for trouble.

Naturally, Sun Simiao would not refuse and said: "Master, you are very polite. Pindao has also been well-known to the master for a long time. It is my wish to communicate with the master."

So at Sun Simiao's warm invitation, Fa Lin followed him to a secluded place in the backyard to exchange ideas, and the monks he brought were received by Yang Tianlu.

A matter that should have caused a big fuss was resolved in this way.

Everyone in Zixiaoguan who was friendly to Li Chengqian breathed a sigh of relief, but those with ulterior motives were very reluctant. Only the melon-eaters who were watching were very disappointed.

I originally thought it would be a battle between dragons and tigers, but it ended in an anticlimactic manner.

But the parties involved don’t care what they think. The result is a happy one for both parties.

Sun Simiao and Fa Lin were discussing Buddhism and Taoism in the backyard pavilion, and Chen Jingke made an exception and was allowed to attend.

As for the outside, it was left to Yang Tianlu, Cong Qi and other stewards, and Cheng Huailiang and the other two people also stayed to help.

With the Forbidden Army and police officers watching, after what happened to Faline again, I believe no one would dare to cause trouble again.

Sun Simiao and Fa Lin started communicating with each other with just a few polite words. They probed the questions step by step from the simplest to the deeper, and finally let themselves go and talked freely.

When two people have similar thoughts on a certain issue, they will appear to be sympathetic to each other. On some issues, they cannot reach a consensus, or their ideas are too different, and they will argue with each other.

But seeing that no one could convince anyone, I would change the topic promptly and not get too entangled in this deadlock.

After all, their purpose is to communicate, not to compete for victory.

Chen Jingke also benefited a lot from listening on the sidelines and gained a deeper understanding of Buddhism and Taoism. At the same time, he was also more sure of one thing. Fa Lin was indeed letting him go when he was at the door.

Because he discovered that Master Fa Lin had learned all three religions, and he could answer the same question using Confucianism and Taoism respectively, and then return to Buddhism.

When he was at the door, if he really wanted to make Chen Jingke look bad, it would be easy. But he did nothing and allowed Chen Jingke to explain clearly the "Three Questions and Three Me".

It can be said that he single-handedly made Chen Jingke famous.

This made Chen Jingke very grateful, and the little pride that had just floated in his heart disappeared.

Through listening, he also discovered something. Master Fa Lin was in the process of sinicizing Buddhism.

To put it simply, we use Chinese culture to interpret Buddhist classics and complement Confucianism and Taoism.

In his words, we should be inclusive and absorb the excellence of Buddhist thought, rather than blindly reject it.

Just think about how difficult this kind of thing is, but this old monk has been doing it and achieved great results.

Chen Jingke's heart moved, and he wanted to take out the modified version of Journey to the West and ask him what he thought about "I turned into a Hu", but after thinking about it, he didn't really do it.

Fa Lin was a monk after all, so it was a bit difficult to get him to agree to "I turned into a beard".

Then Chen Jingke wondered, why is this kind of capable person not famous in history?

What he didn't know was that it wasn't that Fa Lin was not famous, but that he knew too little about Buddhism.

Historically, Fa Lin was an eminent monk during the Sui and Tang Dynasties. He first entered Buddhism, then Taoism, and then returned to Buddhism. He also studied Confucianism intensively. He can be said to be a virtuous eminent monk who has learned all three religions.

He devoted his life to the sinicization of Buddhism, translated and interpreted many Buddhist scriptures with Chinese ideas, and was one of the insurmountable core figures of Mahayana Buddhism.

Well, Mahayana Buddhism is the product of the Sinicization of Buddhism. It can even be said that Mahayana Buddhism is China’s own thing.

He also actively participated in the debate between Buddhism and Taoism and fought for the survival space of Buddhism.

The most famous one is that in order to promote Taoism, Li Shimin prepared to put the status of Taoist priests above all religious people.

Fa Lin found Li Shimin and successfully persuaded him to give up the plan after a debate.

Chen Jingke tried to argue with him, which really sounded like he was wielding a sword in front of Guan Gong.

Back to business.

Sun Simiao and Fa Lin became happier and happier as they chatted, and they felt like they had met so late.

During this period, it was inevitable to talk about the Three Questions and Three Self. When she learned that this was really Chen Jingke’s own insights, one can imagine Fa Lin’s surprise.

However, he still had some doubts and asked Chen Jingke a few questions.

These questions are not complicated or tricky, but each requires a certain amount of experience and depth of knowledge to answer.

Chen Jingke secretly thought that he was lucky. Fortunately, he had taken philosophy as an elective in college in his previous life. Although it was just for extra credits, he still knew a little bit about it.

After time travel, I followed Sun Simiao to study the Tao Te Ching. In order to write Journey to the West, I also read several Buddhist scriptures and picked up some of them again.

Most of Fa Lin's questions could be answered by using his philosophical knowledge from his previous life, mixed with some Taoist thoughts. For the remaining questions that were difficult to answer, he simply said he couldn't answer them.

Even so, Fa Lin was so shocked that he couldn't help himself. He was finally convinced that this knowledge was not forcibly instilled by Sun Simiao, but was thought of by Chen Jingke himself.

He had communicated with Sun Simiao just now and knew the general thoughts of the other party. It cannot be said that he was completely different from Chen Jingke's answer, it could only be said that it was almost incompatible.

This reality simply made him unable to believe that this young man really had such profound knowledge. The key was that his thinking was a completely new path.

He had seen a lot of ten-year-old geniuses, but this was the first time he had seen a ten-year-old who could walk his own path.

So much so that he was in a trance, and even wandered off a few times during the following exchanges.

Sun Simiao was also stunned by his disciple, but he soon thought of Chen Jingke's mysterious origins and guessed that he might have learned it in his hometown.

But even so, to be able to learn so deeply at the age of ten is a genius.

While they were chatting freely, what happened at the door had already reached the ears of all parties.
