Chapter 16 Brocade cassock

The Xuanzang of this world had never received the decree from the King of Tang Dynasty to go west to obtain Buddhist scriptures, so there could not be any official proof such as a customs clearance document.

However, what Elder Jinchi wants to see is not paper certificates such as documents.

In the original work, the master loves treasures as much as his life. The objects he talks about should be treasures such as brocade cassocks.

But neither did Chen San, the brocade cassock.

You can't just take off this tattered monk's robe and pass it off as a brocade cassock, right?

Elder Jinchi is not a fool.

Fortunately, Chen San is not a true believer, he is good at deceiving people.

"The poor monk went west to Tianzhu on the orders of the King of Tang. The journey is long, so he didn't bring much with him. However, the poor monk has a brocade cassock given by Guanyin Bodhisattva here. Is it okay?"

Guanyin gave these four words, like four thunderbolts striking the thin-faced monk's head.

His voice trembled as he said: "Bring it...bring it here, I'll give it to the host to take a look!"

Chen San had a troubled look on his face: "The Bodhisattva once told the poor monk to take good care of this brocade cassock to prevent it from being spotted by evil people. I'd rather trouble the host to move here and take a look."

The thin-faced monk thought the same thing. Since it was a treasure given by the Bodhisattva, how could it be easily shown to others?

So he slowly retreated and went to call Elder Jinchi.

Sun Wukong became interested again: "Master, why didn't I, Old Sun, know that you still have a precious cassock? Take it out quickly and let Old Sun open his eyes."

Chen San saw the thin-faced monk walking away, closed the door gently, and then explained the truth to Wukong and Ao Lie.

and your own plans.

Sun Wukong plucked out a hair, put it to his mouth and blew it gently. The hair turned into a cassock studded with rare treasures and shining with colorful light.

Chen Sandao: "Hide it first and then take it out when I let you take it."

After a long while, the sound of crutches touching the ground was heard outside the door.

The door was pushed open, and Chen San saw the true appearance of Elder Jinchi.

Wearing a square hat with a fine cat's eye stone on the top, and a brocade velvet collared shirt with bright emerald fur and gold edges.

A pair of monk's shoes are embedded with eight treasures, and a walking stick is embedded with clouds and stars.

Her face is covered with wrinkles, like the old mother of Lishan; her eyes are dim, but she is like the dragon king of the East China Sea.

If the mouth is not closed due to wind, the teeth may fall out, and the waist may be hunched and the back may be bent due to spasticity.

He looks like he cannot get any older.

He looks like a 270-year-old man.

Elder Jinchi walked tremblingly in front of the three of them, squinted his eyes as big as mung beans, and looked at them for a long time before he could identify the three of them, and said to Chen San: "Are you the Holy Monk of the Tang Dynasty?"

Chen Sandao: "It's just a poor monk."

Elder Jinchi frowned, as if he was smelled by the smell of Chen San's clothes, and covered his nose and said: "I heard that you have a precious cassock, which was given by Guanyin Bodhisattva?"

"Exactly."

There was a glimmer of light in Jinchi's turbid eyes: "Can I take a look?"

Chen Sandao: "It depends on whether the elder has a predestined relationship with this cassock."

Jin Chi was startled: "What does the holy monk mean by this?"

Chen San clasped his hands together and said: "Monks don't lie. This cassock was indeed given by Guanyin Bodhisattva, but it was not given to the poor monk. The Bodhisattva told the poor monk that on the way to the west, he would encounter countless temples and monasteries. He asked me to find one here.

If you are destined, pass it on to him."

Jinchi was overjoyed: Could it be that his sincerity moved the Bodhisattva and sent Monk Tang here to deliver the treasure?

Chen San ordered Sun Wukong to fetch the cassock.

Sun Wukong was really good at it, and even created a beautiful sandalwood box to hold the cassocks.

Just as Jin Chi was about to open the box, Chen San raised his hand to stop him and said: "Elder, the poor monk has something to say before. The Bodhisattva once said that if a person has no destiny, all he sees is a tattered rag, and those who are not destined will not be able to see the true appearance of the cassock."

"Clearly, clearly."

As soon as Jin Chi heard the brocade cassock, he had already forgotten his name. At this moment, his mind was filled with the treasures in the box, so he opened the wooden box without hesitation.

Suddenly, the palace was filled with brilliant rays of light, which made everyone unable to open their eyes.

It took Jinchi a long time to adapt, and then he recovered from his dizziness. He threw his crutch aside, respectfully picked up the cassock, and put it in front of his eyes to observe carefully.

His hands, like dead branches, caressed the rare treasures inlaid on the cassock, and the light in his eyes was even brighter than these treasures.

"Baby, it's really a good baby!"

Elder Jinchi's expression was first shocked, then slowly turned to envy, and finally he started crying.

"I have been in charge of Guanyin Zen Temple for more than two hundred years. I thought I had collected all the treasures of Buddhism. I didn't expect to see such treasures today. Boo hoo hoo..."

Chen San added: "The preciousness of this thing does not lie in the priceless gold, stone and agate on it, but in its own efficacy."

Jin Chi wiped his tears: "What other effects does it have?"

Chen San puffed up his chest and said proudly: "Wearing the cassock will protect you from disasters and prevent you from falling into reincarnation."

Jinchi started crying again.

The three of them were not comforted and just watched Jin Chi perform alone.

Perhaps because he was tired from crying, Jinchi's crying gradually stopped and he sobbed: "The holy monk just said that Guanyin Bodhisattva asked you to hand over your cassock to a destined person. I wonder if this old monk is considered destined?"

Chen San looked troubled: "The elder's name spreads far and wide, so he is the most suitable person to entrust him. However, the life of the Bodhisattva is not trivial. The poor monk must think carefully before making a decision."

A glint flashed in Jin Chi's eyes.

What a good Eastern monk!

Just now I said that only those who are destined can see the true appearance of the cassock, but now they refuse to give it to me.

You must be greedy for treasures and want to take the cassock as your own, so you made up such an excuse to fool the old monk!

Today I will decide on this old monk in cassock!

Jinchi pretended to be calm and put the cassock back into the box, closed it with his own hands, and saluted Chen San: "Holy Monk, when I was stroking my cassock just now, I seemed to hear Sanskrit sounds loud and clear, like the Bodhisattva teaching earnestly. Can you lend me your cassock to the old monk?"

Watch it all night and return it to the holy monk tomorrow morning?"

The Sanskrit music was loud and clear, so Chen San naturally had no reason to refuse Jin Chi's request.

Just a piece of monkey hair, just give it away.

"As the elder wishes."

Jin Chi quickly picked up the wooden box, as if he was afraid that Chen San would regret it and snatch the cassock away again.

While moving towards the door, he shouted in a hoarse voice: "Prepare some fast food for the holy monks and disciples!"

Chen San bent down to pick up the crutch that Jin Chi had left in the hall. He saw that the crutch was also gilded and inlaid with pillars and jade. It must be a valuable item. While asking Ao Lie to put it away, he said: "This Jin Chi, look at it.

I don’t even need a walking stick anymore.”

Ao Lie took the crutch and put it into his belly: "Master, shall we stay here tonight?"

Chen San nodded, but then immediately shook his head: "We'll stay here for now, but we need to be more alert at night to avoid demons from attacking."

Ao Lie felt that Chen San was too sensitive.

What kind of demon is so blind that it dares to run wild in Guanyin Temple?

Besides, with the Monkey King sitting in charge, even if a demon does come, what's there to fear?

Chen San smiled meaningfully.

"Wukong, Longlong and I will sleep in bed, and you can go outside and have some fun!"
