Chapter 14 Getting Rich

When he was approaching the sun shop, Gongsun Yan relit the torch and walked into the stone room to get dry food. He saw the wooden frame and stones placed on the stone table and brought them out. The winter sun was warm and felt very comfortable on his body. He tilted his head.

He was leaning against the entrance of the cave to bask in the sun, playing with the wooden frame in his hands. The wooden frame had not decayed after being placed in the cave for so long. The material must be extraordinary. He judged that it was golden nanmu.

When putting the wooden frame back, he accidentally saw a large "cow nostril" near the ground on the inner wall of the hole where he was leaning. After thinking for a while, he thought that this should be used for tying ropes.

He picked up the stone and inspected it carefully. Apart from some gold and stone medicinal materials, Gongsun Yan knew very little about stones. The stone was round, close to an oval, and its surface was relatively smooth. He held it up to look at the light, and gently

After beating and playing with it for a long time, I still couldn't figure it out, so I had to put it beside me, pick up the dry food and eat it.

As the sun set in the west, the afterglow of the setting sun aroused Gongsun Yan's homesickness again. Thinking that he was thousands of miles away from home, but his family did not know whether he was alive or dead, he felt particularly melancholy. Sitting there, he looked a little lonely. He also thought of today's picking.

There are two precious medicines. If his father could have had one of them when he was critically ill, there would be great hope of saving his life, and he might not have ended up in a foreign land. Unfortunately, "there is no such thing as this", he sighed helplessly.

Seeing that it was getting late, Gongsun Yan packed up his things, lit the torch and prepared to return to the stone room to rest. He picked up the dry food bag and water bag at the entrance of the cave. When he saw the stone, he felt that something had changed, and he did not pay much attention to it.

He brought the wooden frame back to the stone room together. After putting things away, he walked into the inner room and looked at the bare stone bed. He thought about buying some bedding and other things tomorrow, so he could only continue to sleep with his clothes on today.

After blowing out the torch and about to fall asleep, he found that the stone room outside was very bright. He was suddenly startled. He held the dagger in his hand and tiptoed towards the outhouse. When he came to the door, he looked around and saw that the outhouse was already full of light.

The room was quiet and there were no outsiders. When he looked carefully, he saw that the light came from the stone on the table. He suddenly realized that the stone was the "Pearl of the Night".

Gongsun Yan had never seen a luminous pearl before. In his imagination, a luminous pearl should be a large round bead with a surface as smooth as a pearl and shining brightly at night. Who would have thought that this ordinary-looking stone could turn out to be a luminous pearl. He could not restrain his inner joy.

Watching it over and over again around the stone table, I said to myself: "God has really blessed me with three joys in one day." The depressed mood for many days was also swept away.

At nine o'clock the next day, as dawn broke, Gongsun Yan got up early and hid most of the silver coins in a secret place in the cave. He then selected two red ginseng trees on the table and put them in his arms. They tied them to the cow's nostrils on the inside of the cave entrance.

After picking up the rope, he picked up the basket and quickly went down the mountain. When he reached the bottom of the valley, Gongsun Yan pulled the auxiliary rope to close the rope, hid it in a nearby pine tree, and quickly left in the southeast direction.

When he got to a farther place, he scattered all the dead wood and debris in his basket on the roadside, found and packed the herbs that were placed on the nearby pine trees, and hurried to Anhua City.

At three quarters of the hour, Gongsun Yan had walked out of the "big mountain" and walked quickly for about a quarter of an hour. He arrived at the foot of Shuangtou Ridge, opposite the north gate of Anhua City. He was not in a hurry to enter the city and found a place to dig out.

Get out dry food and water bags and start having breakfast.

There were more people entering the city gate in the morning. After eating, Gongsun Yan followed the crowd and lined up to enter the city. Passing through the city gate smoothly, he went straight to Anji Hall. On the way, he saw many shops that were not open yet, but he was not worried that Anji Hall was not open.

The first time he went there to sell medicinal materials, he saw a "fish charm" sign hanging at the door, indicating that they were open day and night.

He soon came to the door of Anji Hall, and saw Zhang Qing busy inside from a distance. When he saw Gongsun Yan approaching, Zhang Qing put down his work and hurriedly greeted him, smiling and saying:

"Brother is here again. What rare grass did you bring today?"

"Good morning, Brother Zhang! I brought some rare grasses today and asked Brother Zhang to estimate their value." Gongsun Yan also responded politely. "Rare grass" is the lingo of a pharmacy, which means rare medicinal materials.

Zhang Qing welcomed Gongsun Yan into the shop very politely and served him tea.

Gongsun Yan took off the basket on his back, removed the ordinary herbs used to cover it, and very carefully took out the red-headed clams, red blood vines and other rare herbs. Zhang Qing's eyes lit up when he saw it, and he quickly called the shopkeeper.

The kind old man came over, put on his gloves, picked up the herbs, inspected them one by one and weighed them carefully, and then said to Gongsun Yan:

"These rare grasses are of good quality. The red-headed clam weighs twelve taels and six cents in total, which can be exchanged for one or two or three cents of silver; the red blood vine weighs one catty of six taels and three cents, which can be exchanged for one tael or one cent of silver; the two large-leaf seven-star swords are yours.

One tael of silver; other herbs are exchanged for three hundred copper coins. In total, I will give you three taels of silver plus five hundred copper coins. Are you satisfied?"

"Okay..." Gongsun Yan nodded, but hesitated to speak.

Seeing this, the old man hurriedly asked:

"Brother, do you have anything else to do?"

"Oh, I still have two rare grasses here. I would like to ask you to estimate their price." After saying that, he took out the two ginseng trees from his arms and handed them to the old man.

"Thousand-year-old red!" The old man said with a sigh without concealing his surprise:

"Brother, you are very lucky!"

Gongsun Yan smiled and acquiesced, this kind of thing is indeed rare. The old man continued:

"It is indeed rare to find a thousand-year-old cliff ginseng. One tree costs nearly a hundred taels of silver on the market. I happen to have someone here who needs it. How about I give you two hundred taels of silver to sell these two trees to me?" After saying that, he stared at me with expectant eyes.

Written by Gongsun Yan.

"Nearly a hundred taels of silver a piece!" Gongsun Yan secretly smacked his tongue after hearing this, mentally estimating the value of the remaining ginseng. Although Gongsun Yan has been dealing with medicinal materials since he was a child, he rarely encounters rare medicinal materials of this level.

There is no accurate positioning on the price.

Seeing that Gongsun Yan was silent, the old man persuaded him:

"Brother, don't hesitate. The price we gave is already very high. Besides, we also want to make a profit, right?"

Hearing this, Gongsun Yan's face turned red. Knowing that they would have misunderstood, he quickly stood up, cupped his hands and said:

"Thank you, shopkeeper. Can you issue it as a banknote? It's best to have one for every ten taels of silver. The three or four taels of silver will also have to be broken into pieces."

He knows the truth that "a gentleman is not guilty, but he is guilty of carrying a jade".

"No problem!" the shopkeeper replied cheerfully, signaling Zhang Qing to add some tea to Gongsun Yan, then put down his hands and went to get the broken silver and banknotes.

Zhang Qing quickly added some tea to Gongsun Yan and said with a smile:

"Brother, I have to come here more often. Can you tell me your name?"

"Oh..., my name is Chu Bao. I will inevitably trouble Brother Zhang in the future." Gongsun Yan suddenly had an idea and made up a fake name just in case. Since he wanted to take revenge in the future, he would inevitably offend his enemies. In order to avoid giving trouble to his family

If it brings trouble, it is safer to give a pseudonym. In addition, "Chu Bao" means both "removing violence" and "removing leopards". This name can also alert yourself.

Two teenagers of similar age naturally had many topics to talk about when they were together. During the conversation, Gongsun Yan learned that Anji Tang was actually the property of the Zhang family. Zhang Qing was mainly an apprentice here, and the shopkeeper Zhang Xiaojing was his elder.

Not long after, shopkeeper Zhang came over with banknotes, broken silver and a bunch of copper coins. He handed these to Gongsun Yan and said:

"This is the banknote from Qingzhou Chamber of Commerce. These are broken silver and copper coins. Let me count them."

Qingzhou Chamber of Commerce is a large chamber of commerce, and their banknotes are also circulated in Lushui Town. Gongsun Yan took a brief look at it, and then pushed the thin grass on the table to shopkeeper Zhang, which was regarded as clearing the money. He carefully collected the banknotes and

After paying the money, he stood up and said goodbye. Shopkeeper Zhang and Zhang Qing walked right out the door.

Gongsun Yan walked out of Anji Hall in a daze, as if his feet were stepping on cotton. He felt a little uncomfortable with having so much money all of a sudden. Although he was not from a poor family, even his father could not afford more than two hundred taels of silver.

It would take many years to earn it back, and I couldn't help but feel guilty. I quietly looked around with the corners of my eyes to see if I was being targeted.

Next he planned to go shopping, and Gongsun Yan decided to buy some books first. Soon, he walked into a bookstore called "Wenkuitang". This bookstore was very large, and most of the books were placed on the shelves.

Reading freely. He picked up a copy of "Map of Xia Su Country" and asked the clerk:

"How much does this map cost?"

"Eight cents."

"Oh." It was cheaper than that bookstore, and he was a little happy. Then he chose "Thirteen Kingdoms of Jishui", "Heaven and Earth", "Six Tao", "Fundamentals of Martial Arts" and "Summary of Kung Fu". The total cost

After paying less than two taels of silver, he asked the clerk to wrap it carefully and left the bookstore happily.
