Chapter 314 : Shrine of Edo Castle

Japan, Edo Castle.

Before dawn, Yoshino Koji got up early.

He lives in a small wooden shack house. He is in his thirties, has no wife and no children.

He originally lived with his mother, but two months ago, a giant python was rampant in Edo, and his old mother was crushed under the collapsed house.

That was a disaster.

Many people died in Edo Castle.

Not even many gods could escape.

Yoshino Koji lit the lamp, got dressed, put two rice balls in his arms, took the bow and arrows and carried them on his back, left the wooden shed house, stood at the door, and unbuttoned his trousers.

The urine I had collected all night was very yellow and smelled bad.

The door diagonally opposite opened, and a woman came out carrying a bucket and poured the waste into the ditch next to it.

She happened to bump into Yoshino Koji who was having sex, and the woman couldn't help but take a second look.

Yoshino Koji shook his head as if showing off.

The woman spat, turned around and entered the house with the bucket in hand.

Yoshino Koji fastened his belt, walked through the filthy narrow alley, and came to the shrine at the entrance of the alley.

There are already three people lining up in front of me.

He stood at the back of the line and watched the three people in front of him serving food.

After a while, it was his turn to attack.

Yoshino Koji took out a rice ball from his arms and handed it over respectfully.

A scaly hand stretched out from the shrine and snatched the rice ball away.

A grunt.

"That's it?"

Dissatisfied voices came from the shrine.

"Lord God..." Just as Yoshino Koji was about to explain, the scaly hand came out of the shrine again, grabbed Yoshino Koji's clothes, and pulled him over.

The other hand reached into Yoshino Koji's clothes, grabbed it a few times, and pulled out the second rice ball.

"If there is no meat tomorrow, I will eat your meat!"

"Next!"

Hearing this, Yoshino Koji was so frightened that his legs trembled and he hurriedly turned around and walked out.

Not far away, a shrill scream was heard.

Yoshino Koji turned around and saw a head emerging from the shrine, opening its bloody mouth and biting the upper body of a young boy.

The head tilted up, and the boy's legs left the ground, still struggling in mid-air. Suddenly, he heard the sound of chewing, and large streams of blood flowed out from the corners of the god's mouth.

The boy's lower body twitched a few times and then stopped moving.

With a sizzling sound, the young man's entire body was swallowed by the spirit.

The huge head retracted into the shrine, contentedly taking a break.

Seeing this scene, the people in the queue behind all turned pale with fright.

Yoshino Koji ran away as if running away, running through alleys one after another towards the outside of the city.

Every street and alley in Edo Castle has a shrine, and in every shrine, there lives a god.

These gods receive blood food as offerings and accumulate strength.

Yoshino Koji left the city, carried his bow on his back, and headed west.

Before dawn, there were many people on the road. They carried weapons, either in groups of two or three, or fighting alone, and entered the dense forest.

Yoshino Koji walked for more than two hours and entered the depths of the dense forest. If it were before, he would never have dared to leave Edo Castle so far.

However, after those monsters and ghosts living in the deep mountains and old forests went to Takamagahara, they transformed into noble gods. Not only the people of Edo had to worship them, but the people of Japan as a whole had to accept their rule.

I heard that there are eight million such gods.

Yoshino Koji had no idea about this number, he only knew that it was a very huge amount.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be so many people in Edo City being eaten by these gods.

After walking for a while, Yoshino Koji felt hungry, so he found some wild fruits, chewed them up and swallowed them in his stomach. Suddenly he heard the sound of water flowing, and his face suddenly became happy.

He leaned over gently, hid behind a tree, and looked at the creek not far away.

After waiting patiently for more than an hour, I finally saw an elk approaching the creek cautiously. After making sure there was no danger around, I went down to drink water.

Yoshino Koji silently took out an arrow, placed it on the bow string, and slowly opened the long bow.

Although he was hungry, his hands were still very steady, and neither the bow nor the arrow trembled at all.

Pulling the bowstring to the extreme, Yoshino Koji suddenly released his fingers.

call out!

The arrow shot through the air without missing a beat, and shot the elk right through the neck.

The elk ran more than ten meters away and fell to the ground crookedly.

Yoshino Koji stepped across the stream and rushed over as fast as he could, holding the elk under him.

The elk was not dead yet, and looked at Yoshino Koji with watery eyes, as if pleading.

"I'm sorry. It's not my wish to kill you."

The feather arrow was pulled out, and the sharp knife cut open the elk's neck.

Blood spurted out from the wound and flew more than a meter away, dyeing the white flowers in front of it red.

The elk kicked its legs violently a few times, and its eyes lost their luster.

Yoshino Koji put his mouth to it, drank a few mouthfuls of the deer's blood, and then carried the elk's body on his shoulders.

The gods only like blood food, so Yoshino Koji can of course pluck the skin from this elk and exchange it for food.

"With this elk, I can live a peaceful life for another ten days."

Yoshino Koji thought so, he felt happy, and walked back carrying the elk's body.

But just after crossing the creek, a gray shadow suddenly flew from the front, followed by a sharp sound breaking through the air.

There was a strange feeling in his shoulder. Yoshino Koji looked down and saw an arrow pierced into his shoulder.

Immediately afterwards, the feeling of severe pain appeared in my mind.

Yoshino Koji was so frightened that he hurriedly threw the elk carcass on the ground, pulled out the short knife from his waist, and ran into the nearby forest.

call out!

There was another crackling sound.

An arrow penetrated his calf.

Yoshino Koji fell to the ground, rolled twice, and hit a tree.

Rapid footsteps sounded, and Yoshino Koji looked up and saw two men in samurai uniforms rushing over and tying ropes to his body without saying a word.

Yoshino Koji asked in panic: "Two adults, why do you want to arrest me? I have not violated any laws!"

"Zhixiong, have you found anything?" A voice asked from the front.

One of the warriors replied: "We caught a wild man!"

Yoshino Koji quickly said: "I am not a wild citizen! I am from Edo, and I live in..."

Bang!

After receiving a punch in the lower abdomen, Yoshino Koji's whole body was reduced to a dried shrimp.

The samurai next to him hit him in the mouth with the handle of his sword and hit him hard several times.

Seven or eight of Yoshino Koji's teeth were broken, and his mouth quickly swelled. After a rag was stuffed into his mouth, he lost the ability to speak.

Two warriors tied him up, carried him out of the woods, and threw him into a wooden prison cart.

In this prison van, there were already three people tied up like him.

The warrior said to a general on horseback: "Sir, there should be many wild people ahead."

The general nodded: "Catch them all, the more the better. The gods are going to war and need a lot of human sacrifices."
