Chapter 12 Only by knowing the enemy can we defeat the enemy

"This is not the place to talk. Please come with me."

Tom made a gentlemanly gesture of invitation and led more than a dozen women's rights fighters to the carriage that had been waiting for a long time at the entrance of the train station.

Tom boarded one of the carriages together with three senior women's rights fighters.

Tom was very enthusiastic about getting close to three middle-aged women who were nearly fifty years old in the carriage, and they were making things up. But halfway through the conversation, the three women couldn't help but ask Tom about the method in his letter that could completely change the status of women in America.

What is.

"Mr. Smith, we are very grateful for your previous generous donation to the American Equal Rights Association. Can you tell us first about the plan you mentioned in your letter?"

"Don't call me Mr. Smith, just call me Tom."

The three women were actually mentally prepared for the young rich man to give some unrealistic and impossible methods.

In fact, the three of them had discussed this issue before setting off and on the way here. They did not think that Tom, a young capitalist, could know how to improve the status of women in the United States.

The three people came this time just to thank Tom for his previous generous donation of tens of thousands of dollars and to hope to receive more donations this time.

"Hey, you don't know something. When I was in New York, my brother-in-law and I were staunch egalitarians."

"But due to the dirty place in New York that is full of machismo and the busy business of my own factory, it has been difficult to escape."

"My brother-in-law and I are egalitarian fighters who always want to make America, and even all mankind, equal!"

"Unfortunately……"

As he talked, Tom shed a few tears.

The three women next to me seemed to suddenly think of something, and they said in unison:

"Is it possible that the big bombing in New York was caused by sexists and racists?"

After hearing the phrase "Big Bang in New York", Tom couldn't hold it back any longer and burst into tears.

Seeing Tom's performance, the three middle-aged women instantly felt that they understood a lot of things, as if they had "understood" the "truth" of this big explosion!

"They must be sexists and chauvinists. Before the bombing, my brother-in-law and I received death threats."

"Those hateful lunatics threatened our family, demanding that we fire female and black employees, make those employees homeless, and destroy their families!"

"Actually, I was a little scared at the time, and I was ready to compromise."

Tom slowly adjusted himself and finished the above words while sobbing.

At this moment, Tom stopped crying instantly and looked at the three middle-aged women with a determined face.

"But my brother-in-law, he insisted on fighting against all unequal systems."

"My brother-in-law said that he has a dream, which is to allow all human beings in the world to live freely, regardless of high or low."

"He inspired me to fight to the death against all the unequal systems in the world!"

"This is why I call you comrades."

Three women who have been fighting for equal rights in the United States for many years were emotionally moved by Tom's words in an instant, revealing their inner weaknesses.

Racists and sexists are never false lobbyists who only talk the talk but do not practice. Especially in the United States of this era, these people are lunatics armed with firearms, and they can do anything crazy.

Three middle-aged women and many like-minded comrades died because of these lunatics.

When Tom saw that the heat was almost done, he lowered his tone again and his tone became sad.

"My brother-in-law insists on recruiting female employees and people of color, and has also increased security forces to fight to the death against all racists and sexists who threaten us!"

"These disgusting bastards, they secretly planted explosives in our factory."

"I still remember that day, when my brother-in-law hugged his two daughters affectionately before leaving home. The doting look in his eyes is something I will never forget."

"I have pity on my two nieces who are under three years old."

The three women "understood" the "truth" all at once, but the three women had not yet figured out how best to comfort Tom.

Tom has already adjusted his mental state.

From the perspective of three women who have been working on the front line of equal rights work for many years and have seen countless women of all kinds, Tom's eyes are full of determination that is incomparable to ordinary people.

"I am determined to inherit my brother-in-law's legacy and spread freedom, equality, and fraternity to the American continent and even the world!"

"I did not impulsively confront those ignorant people with backward ideas. I endured the humiliation and escaped with my few remaining family members to Texas, an area without any Yankees."

"When I was in New York, everyone said the Dixie area, especially Texas, was the most sexist and racist place."

"I chose to escape here just to better understand sexists and male chauvinists and learn from them."

"Only by understanding your opponent can you defeat your opponent."

"Know yourself and your enemy, and you can fight a hundred battles without danger!"

After hearing the words "Know yourself and your enemy, you can fight a hundred battles without danger", the three women shuddered together, like a fishing boat lost in the storm and seeing a lighthouse in the distance.

In an instant, many of the questions that had puzzled the three women for years were explained by this sentence.

Yes, although the three women have been fighting for equal rights on the front lines for many years, they have never been to the Dixie area before. They just blindly believe that Dixie is a bunch of backward racists.

But if you don’t understand the opponent, how can you defeat your opponent?

"After I came to Texas, I discovered an amazing secret after investigating."

"The post-war Dixie Territory of America had a population of less than 10 million."

"There are only about two million black people, but there are about eight million white people."

"Then the problem is, even if two to three million black people become black slaves, it won't be enough for eight million people."

"Have you ever thought about whether the Dixie region in the South of the United States was really full of slave owners?"

Tom first gave the three women some psychological buffering time, and then raised his hand and pointed out the carriage window, where the hard-working Dixie Rednecks could be seen.

"Look."

“Are the black people working outside the window?”

How could the American red neck be black? Only then did the three women realize that the farmland outside the window was full of white people working, and there were no black people working at all.

"No, Tom, the three of us saw many half-clothed black men on the farm, working under the supervision of the farmer's whip."

"Uh-huh."

"Ah."

Tom laughed softly, but the three women did not feel the contempt mixed with Tom's laughter.

"That's wrong."
