Chapter 73 'hero'

Father Martin suppressed his sobs and continued to tell Tom:

"I practiced asceticism at home for two weeks. I didn't eat or drink for two weeks. Maybe God favored me and I didn't die."

"I understand. The Lord wanted me to save those children, so he didn't let me die."

"I decided to get back on the road of saving children,"

"It was at this time that I met your mother, the generous and wealthy Mrs. Smith."

Father Martin talked about Tom's mother, and Tom subconsciously wanted to see what the man crying behind him was going to say.

Tom wanted to give this man the most basic respect - to watch the other person speak, especially in this situation.

But Tom held back, and now he couldn't let his success fall by the wayside.

Tom must let Father Martin, a persevering man, break through his own psychological defenses.

"Your mother began to fund many churches. However, I was the only one who really gave the money back to every child of the Lord."

"Only then did I understand why God did not take me away in those two weeks, because it needed me to cooperate with Mrs. Smith to save the children."

"With Mrs. Smith's help, there are now hundreds of orphans in the church who I rescued from farms around the world."

"The Lord will always protect you, the Smith family."

"Sheltering the kind and benevolent Smith family."

Father Martin tapped his hands on both shoulders in turn, making a virtual sign of the cross, and at the same time said these words of blessing to the Smith family.

"At the same time, I listened to Mrs. Smith pray in church several times, asking the Lord to protect you, and let me know that you are the helmsman of the Smith family."

"It is also impossible for Mrs. Smith to spend a lot of money to adopt a large number of orphans."

“I also went to learn about Hero’s deeds in Texas.”

"I just realized how great you are."

"You can make defeated Texas great again in a year."

"Let a large number of refugees have jobs and support their families."

"Even during the great turmoil in Texas caused by external forces, and a large number of employees lost their jobs, you provided meals for every unemployed worker free of charge when there was no governor in Texas and the state government was in chaos.

"

"After the establishment of the New South Wales government, you announced the full resumption of work as soon as possible. Although the new job types have low wages, at least the unemployed employees have a living."

"You are a true hero of Texas."

"I just want to ask you how we can give these orphans a stable place to live and grow up stably."

As he talked, Father Martin saw that Tom was completely indifferent, and finally slowly knelt down on one knee and completely begged Tom.

"The Lord brought you to Texas and made you prosperous after the Civil War,"

"You rose up in the most miserable era in America. It must be the Lord who sent you to save us."

"I beg you, Mr. Smith, tell me how to give hundreds of thousands of special workers in Texas and even the United States a stable childhood!"

Tom turned around and looked at Father Martin, who was kneeling on one knee. Father Martin's chin was pressed tightly against his chest, and his head was lowered as low as possible.

With the highest respect, Father Martin longed for the real "finance owner" of hundreds of orphans.

Begging for the savior who might be able to save orphans across America.

Tom knew as soon as he saw Father Martin's move that the time had come.

A person who has truly seen the darkness of religion and can still strive for religious causes must not be because of religion.

Tom knew that Father Martin's spiritual sustenance had long since changed from religion to countless suffering children.

Tom now strangles Father Martin's weak spot - the orphan's future.

It is precisely because Father Martin has learned about Hero Company through Penny that he knows the capabilities of Hero Company and is so eager for Tom's help.

And Tom's words just now, that just another priest would be fine, and that raising children without working would lead to the bankruptcy of Hero Company, completely killed Father Martin's last vestige of fantasy.

In Father Martin's world view, he is the only priest who is good to orphans, and he cannot be replaced.

And Tom is the only person Father Martin knows who has the ability, strength, and financial resources to help orphans.

Father Martin must plead with Tom.

He had no choice but to beg Tom.

All other roads were blocked in advance by Tom with just a few words.

"Look up, Father Martin, you are my mother's friend. Of course I have ways to solve the problem of these orphans."

Father Martin slowly raised his head. He looked at the savior of the orphans in Texas in front of him, wanting to hear what good ideas this "financier" had.

A few seconds after Father Martin looked up, the sun had completely set, and Tom's office fell into darkness.

In order to provide more money for his children, Father Martin had been malnourished for a long time and suffered from night blindness.

In Father Martin's eyes, Tom also changed from the "gold master" illuminated by the afterglow of the setting sun to a dark shadow whose appearance was unclear.

Tom helped Father Martin up and used his familiarity with the office to find the place where the kerosene lamp was placed and turned on the kerosene lamp.

Father Martin's eyes received light again.

Tom took out a thick book and handed it to Father Martin.

"That's my solution."

Father Martin looked at the cover of the book, which read the simple word "hero", and asked with some confusion:

"Mr. Smith...is this?"

"It's just a book. It will become an enlightenment book for children in the hero orphanage."

"Children's enlightenment books? Letting children read is a good thing, but what does this have to do with child labor?"

"If we don't use special small employees and just raise a large number of orphans, it will be fine in the short term. But in a few years Hero Company will go bankrupt because of these children, right?"

"After listening to your explanation, I understand your difficulty."

"Then, to train these children into talents who will be useful and valuable to Hero Company in the future, isn't the money spent on the orphanage considered a hugely profitable investment? Hero Company can invest a lot of money without having to worry about bankruptcy in the future.

Yet?"

"Mr. Smith, do you mean that this children's enlightenment textbook can make children useful to Hero Company in the future, so that Hero Company will be willing to pay to support these children?"

Tom did not answer this question, but looked at the excited Father Martin kindly.

Father Martin began to flip through the children's enlightenment book titled "Hero".

Father Martin wants to see what is written in this "new Bible" that can save orphans in Texas and even orphans across the United States.

The more he looked, the more frightened Father Martin became.

This book is full of dissatisfaction with the existing social system, a distorted interpretation of God, and big Texas ideas...

It is full of various little fairy tales and fables, basically using the most straightforward words to warn readers to be loyal to Texas.

Only loyal to Texas.

Not just disloyal to the US federal government, but outright hostile to other regions.
