Chapter four hundred and twenty fifth spies

Rhaenys was sitting in a study in Dragonstone Castle, reading a book with gusto when Mistoyne escorted a short prisoner in.

This used to be Viserys's living room, and there are still many things that Viserys left behind.

After Stannis occupied Dragonstone, he did not clean up these books and handwriting, but left them here. Stannis also used this room as his study, and there are many traces of him left in it.

Even in the many books Viserys flipped through, there were Stannis's comments underneath his notes and handwriting.

Many words that Stannis could not understand were also marked, and the tone of the words showed his deep confusion.

Stannis didn't know what these small square characters were, but he could guess that they might be words that meant something.

He commissioned Maester Cressen, who had followed him to Dragonstone, to study what kind of writing it was.

Maester Cressen also attached great importance to it, and specifically 'drawn' these square characters according to the gourd painting method, but the drawings were a little different.

Then I wrote and sent letters to the school, asking for help from the school to see if I could find some information.

Maester Cressen's letter aroused widespread interest among the old academics in the Citadel, because although they had studied ancient and modern times, they had never seen such writing.

They can judge through some clues that these should be texts carrying some kind of information.

This even formed a unique landscape in the school city, where a group of gray-haired doctors and their apprentices were immersed in reading materials in the library.

There are many books in the academic city, and the doctors also have a desire for knowledge, but unfortunately, after searching through all the records, they can't find any records about this unique writing.

However, I did find a record about the high nobles of Valyria in a book. The author of the book was someone who lived more than a thousand years ago.

The origins of the Valyrian high nobles are unknown. No one knows how this nation suddenly rose to prominence and why it suddenly found a way to control dragons.

Moreover, this 'skill of controlling dragons' seems to only exist among the oldest nobles, and their bloodline can resonate with the dragon.

The author of this book speculates that there must be some kind of ulterior secret hidden among these high Valyrian nobles, which may explain why they are able to control dragons.

Because based on the records in this book, a doctor boldly speculated that this might be a unique way of communication between the oldest nobles in Valyria, a special kind of writing.

He was willing to name the language "Moras Language" after himself, but unfortunately he was forced to stop it by other doctors.

Stannis noted in Viserys's mysterious notes that he suspected they were the writings of the First Men.

The girl with long brown hair was wearing a gorgeous Sulu skirt and a golden crown on her head. She was bathing in the sunshine on the window sill, slightly raising her delicate chin, holding the book in her white hands and reading it with relish.

She had just finished handling some military affairs today, and another batch of grain, grass and supplies arrived at Dragonstone from Pentos.

After the Targaryen army occupied Dragonstone, although they temporarily cooperated to fight against the White Walkers, they did not immediately send troops to attack King's Landing.

But Rhaenys did not stop during this period, but worked non-stop to seize the time to build a military transportation channel from Pentos to Dragonstone.

Thanks to the frequent trade exchanges between the two places, this route is considered the most frequent main trade route between Westeros and Essos. It is not very difficult to build a supply channel.

Rhaenys also received a letter from her uncle today. The Second Legion led by Oberyn has arrived at the port of Pentos and is ready to board a ship to leave Pentos and sail to Westeros. It may be on the way now.

And at this time.

There was a rush of footsteps outside the study room in the castle. An Unsullied soldier standing outside the study door stopped them, then opened the door and walked in to report.

"your Highness."

It turned out to be Mistoin, the leader of the Golden Company. The soldiers of the Golden Company caught nine spies on the beach of Dragonstone who secretly approached the island in a small boat.

They were wearing tattered clothes, which had been soaked by the sea water. After drying slightly, there was still a thin layer of salt crystals on the clothes. They were all sallow and thin, and their hair was as messy as a bird's nest.

The boat they were traveling in was too small, so they escaped the inspection of the Dragonstone fleet. However, they did not expect that when approaching Dragonstone, the boat accidentally ran aground and leaked, and all the people on board were soaked in the sea water.

Then they were forced to abandon the boat and jump into the sea and swim towards the coast which was not far away. Fortunately, several people were lucky enough to swim to the shore smoothly and only half of them were left paralyzed on the beach.

Life.

However, their luck ran out when a patrol of Golden Regiment soldiers discovered them and took them to the regimental commander.

Afterwards, Mistoin asked about his identity and took one of them to the castle on Dragonstone Island to meet with Her Royal Highness the Princess.

"spy?"

The girl who was bathing in the sunshine on the windowsill put down the book in her hand slightly when she heard Mistoin's words, and looked over with a pair of beautiful eyes.

This is already the second espionage incident in recent times. Last time, a person who claimed to be a representative of the Lannister family wanted to lobby the Golden Company to betray Targaryen, and directly held Rhaenys as a hostage and threatened Wessey.

Reese's retreat.

However, what this representative of the Lannister family didn't know was that the Dragonstone Castle was heavily guarded and easy to defend but difficult to attack. Two thousand Unsullied were Princess Rhaenys's personal guard and were guarding all parts of the castle.

Solid as gold.

Even if 10,000 Golden Company soldiers betrayed, it would be very difficult to storm the castle on Dragonstone. What's more, Rhaenys also had the help of the dragon. Even if the war went against her, she could mount the dragon and escape at any time.

Therefore, the Lannister family's machinations are fundamentally impossible to achieve.

And the ‘spy’ brought here by Mistoin in front of me

Rhaenys blinked. The man was not tall and seemed to be about the size of a child. He had stubby legs and a face that was not very good-looking. One of his eyes was black and the other was green. What was particularly eye-catching was that his head was a bit unsightly.

Proportionally large.

The brown-haired girl sat in her seat, the golden crown on her head slightly reflecting the light, and then she couldn't help blurting out.

"Why is your head so big?"
