The monks are busy processing the spices, grinding them into powder, adding fragrant dew, and making incense sticks and coiled incense.
Liu Ruyan said as she walked: "Which eminent monk usually takes care of this incense hall?"
The little novice monk replied: "It used to be Master Daoxuan, but now it is under the control of Master Kongjing."
Shen Yanchu came to a stove. The fire in the stove was burning brightly. There was a copper vessel the size of a water tank placed on it. There was a conduit inside, and the distilled fragrance flowed into the glass bottle along the conduit.
According to the historical records of the Southern Tang Dynasty: Kunming State presented fifteen bottles of rose water, which was obtained from the Western Regions, and was used to sprinkle clothes on clothes.
Offer this incense to the Buddha to purify your three karma and wash away the troubles and dirt.
In the Southern Tang Dynasty, when Buddhism was revered, the emperor set up an incense hall and imitated the distillation technology of the Western Regions to collect collected incense dew and make it into Buddhist incense.
Most Buddhist incense is taken from flower and fruit plants. Different Buddhist incense has different fragrance recipes and different effects.
The little novice monk took a box of prepared Buddhist incense and gave it to the two of them: "This incense has a clear and refreshing fragrance, and it lasts for a long time. It has the effect of dispelling evil spirits, avoiding filth, and refreshing the mind. In order to develop this incense, Master Daoxuan spared no effort. Traveling to various countries in the Western Regions to look for the local magical grass."
Shen Yanchu asked Xiang Xiaosi: "Can you let me see the fragrant recipe?"
"This..." the young novice monk was a little embarrassed, "the young monk cannot be the master of the fragrant recipe."
Liu Ruyan might as well ask: "Are all the spices used here in the yard?"
The young novice replied: "Yes."
Shen Yanchu immediately went to get it.
Liu Ruyan also squatted aside, taking out the dried spices one after another and wrapping them in paper.
The two of them separately found dozens of herbs and took them back to Angelica dahurica for examination.
Pingle Pavilion.
Bai Zhi put the herbs between his nose and smelled them one by one. He looked calm and shook his head every time he tried each flavor.
When he picked up a dark green leaf, he suddenly made a movement in his hand: "That's it."
Gongshuyu couldn't help but ask: "These leaves are just ordinary, what's the problem?"
Angelica dahurica raised the leaves in front of her eyes: "The Buddhist incense in Jinling Temple is taken from sandalwood, nard, clove and other Chinese herbal medicines, but I have never seen this herb before."
Gongshuyu came closer and saw that the top of the leaves were blunt and tapered: "Why didn't I see anything special..."
Bai Zhi Junmei twisted slightly, and suddenly, he put the leaves into his mouth and chewed them.
"You——" Everyone was shocked.
After chewing the Angelica dahurica for a while, he said, "It tastes slightly bitter and is not poisonous."
Gradually, his brows widened, and he ate a few more leaves one after another, with a look of surprise on his face: "It makes you feel full and refreshes your mind. It's really amazing!"
Liu Ruyan explained: "At that time, Master Daoxuan went to various countries in the Western Regions to look for local sacred herbs. Presumably, this herb was produced in the Western Regions."
"That's it." Bai Zhi said.
"There is also an incense hall in the backyard of Jinling Temple. I heard from monks that they imitated the distillation techniques of the Western Regions and refined the spices into fragrant dew. The Buddhist fragrance is more durable." Liu Ruyan was puzzled, "But why is Buddha added to Huizhou ink? fragrant?"
"No." Bai Zhi corrected, "The only thing added to the ink is this herb from the Western Regions."
Liu Ruyan simply took the Hui ink and dissolved it with water. She carefully smelled the smell inside, and it was indeed as Bai Zhi said.
Gong Shuyu also smelled it: "What herb is so magical?"
Bai Zhi: "I'll go to Tai Hospital and maybe I can find clues."
After noon, Bai Zhi went to the Imperial Hospital, while Liu Ruyan met Official Mo in the palace.
She learned from the official Mo that the sacred grass from the Western Regions was wise and wise, so he added the distilled fragrant dew into the ink. This special Hui ink was only used by the imperial court.
Back at home, Liu Ruyan took out the incense box, lit it, and wisps of green smoke drifted away.
She sat quietly aside.
Several of the people involved in the accident had been exposed to Huimo. Is it possible that they had also been to Buddhist temples?
The fragrance of Buddha and the fragrance of ink are just coincidence?
In order to solve their doubts, Liu Ruyan and Shen Yanchu came to Jinling Temple again.
Seeing that they were acquaintances, the young novice stepped forward to greet them and said, "The two donors are devoted to the Buddha. How good it is."
Liu Ruyan said a few polite words and then asked again: "Master must have heard about the evil spirits causing trouble."
The young novice clasped his hands together and said, "I've heard it once or twice."

"The musicians in the pedagogy and the bodyguard Zhang Ting." She said seriously, "Have you ever been to Jinling Temple before?"
The young novice said without hesitation: "These pilgrims are all regular visitors to the temple."
Shen Yanchu's eyes changed.
Liu Ruyan then asked: "They all come to the temple to offer incense?"
The little novice monk thought for a moment: "Not entirely. Master Daoxuan will take them to practice meditation."
Master Daoxuan, the holy monk who developed Buddhist incense?
"I dare to ask Master, why did Master Daoxuan pass away at such a young age?"
The young novice monk had been practicing for a short time and was unclear about the details: "I only heard from the monks that people who follow Buddhism are most afraid of inner demons. Master Daoxuan once had depression in his heart and was weak in body. He could often see evil spirits. Similar. After he converted to Buddhism, he was deeply benefited, so he opened a altar to teach and eliminate karma obstacles for those who were destined to do so. The holy monk had immeasurable merit and was a long-lived person, but for some unknown reason, he suddenly died."
Shen Yanchu asked: "What were the symptoms before death?"
The young novice was also present at the time and replied truthfully: "It looks like his eyes are red and he is talking nonsense, as if he is possessed by evil spirits."
Shen Yanchu went crazy at the thought and couldn't help but ask: "Just now you said that several people in Dali Temple are regular visitors to the temple. What is the relationship between these people and Master Daoxuan?"
The little novice monk replied: "Master Daoxuan usually holds teachings, and all these people will come here, so we are familiar with him."
"What happened next?" Liu Ruyan took over, "After Master Daoxuan passed away, did these people come to the temple?"
The little novice monk nodded: "Of course there is, but the ceremony has been presided over by Master Kongjing."
At the Dharma practice meeting.
Master Kongjing sat quietly with his eyes closed and recited scriptures.
After a while, he opened his eyes and looked at everyone in the room with compassion, "If you recite this sutra regularly, all physical and mental illnesses, all kinds of suffering, and even all bad karma in the world will be eliminated."
At this time, a female believer said: "I am a musician in the church, and I have always been good friends with Qing'er. Ever since she was possessed by an evil spirit, I have felt uneasy in my heart. I have nightmares at night, and I always see people drowning." The maid of honor is standing beside my bed."
Master Kongjing took out a sutra from the edge of his sleeve and handed it to her, saying: "Evil spirits can steal people's vitality and make them exhausted. Donors may wish to burn incense and recite sutras. No evil ghosts or monsters in the world can harm them."
The female believer put her hands together and thanked the master.
At this time, some believers in the hall asked questions, and Kongjing answered them one by one.
It's getting late.
Everyone dispersed one after another. Master Kongjing called the female believer and told her: "If you encounter an evil spirit, just recite the mantra and don't interfere, so as not to cause trouble. This box of Buddhist incense will be given to the donor. It can help the donor to resolve the problem in his heart."
Get rid of depression and eliminate demonic obstacles."
The female believer thanked her again and again.
Outside the crowd, Liu Ruyan took a look from a distance and saw that the female believer was holding a box of incense. This type of incense is suitable for use in magpie-tail stoves.
The magpie-tail incense burner has a slender handle at the end. You can hold the incense burner and chant sutras while walking. It is also relatively common in palaces.
