He realizes that he belongs to Hinayana, but he seeks to be kind to himself alone; he realizes that he is a Bodhisattva and has compassion, but the real liberation is the perfection of enlightenment.
Perfection does not refer to the number of lives saved, but rather to the character of one’s mind.
There are three kinds of troubles in the mind. The first is the troubles of seeing and thinking. Those who are aware of them will stop the troubles of seeing and thinking. Those who are aware of others can cut off the dust and sand of others and transform them by themselves. The third kind is fundamental ignorance, which cuts off the dust and sand of seeing and thinking and then cuts them off.
Fundamental ignorance is perfection.
It is useless for these three to seek the Buddha and require their own efforts. Therefore, the meaning of the existence of the Buddha is only guidance. Therefore, it is better to seek the Buddhas than to seek oneself."
