Faced with the sudden drastic change, Geer's first reaction was panic... This is normal. He is not a veteran who has been on the battlefield for a long time, nor is he a cold-blooded killer. He is essentially just an ordinary person who is a little cowardly, a little tough, and a little simple. He is even a good person himself, which can be seen from his never killing innocent people.
He never took the initiative to massacre those innocent people. Even when targeting Asgard, he never killed Asgard's elderly, weak, women and children. As for Asgard's warriors... this thing is impossible to avoid. If the clay pot is broken from the well, the general will inevitably die in front of the formation. It is inevitable to go on this road!
Geer's first half of his life was a tragedy. He lost his father since he was born. As soon as he grew up, his mother starved to death. Soon he got married, but the earthquake took away his child and his pregnant wife. In the end, the two children died of despair in hunger.
He was also expelled by the tribe because he did not want to hang his children on a tree and dedicated them to the gods. (This is a plot in the comics. The custom of their tribe believes that children cannot grow up is a punishment, so they need to hang their children's corpses on a high place so that the gods can see that the gods will take away the children's souls and prevent them from suffering anymore... It's a bit like sky burial, but it's not the same. Sky burial is a traditional funeral method - after a person dies, the body is transported to a designated place and let vultures (or other birds, animals, etc.) to devour. The core of the theory of burial is the immortality and reincarnation: death is just the separation of the immortal soul and the old body, which is a different transformation in a different space. But the Ger tribe is obviously not so advanced. They simply hang the child's corpses on a high place and then ignore it, which is a bit similar to the so-called "the child of the god before the age of seven" on Xiaorizi's side)
Anyway, he's just a big coffee table.
But when he got the Black Death Sword, his life was on the fast lane, which was so smooth.
After all, the so-called gods in the Pantheon are all full of food. For thousands of years, they have never experienced any deadly wars, and death is even rarer. When they really encounter a life-and-death crisis, they are not even as good as mortals.
Otherwise, what if you say that you are born from distress and die from happiness?
Mencius told King Xuan of Qi that "there is no victory in foreign patients, and the country will perish."
During the Warring States Period, the princes competed for hegemony and the world was in chaos. At that time, there was a man named Mencius, who was an amazing thinker. One day, Mencius was invited by the king of Qi, King Xuan of Qi, to discuss the way of governing the country. King Xuan of Qi asked Mencius: "I heard that you are very knowledgeable. Can you teach me some skills in governing the country?"
Mencius said: "King, governing the country is not easy. You must first understand one truth: if the country wants to be stable for a long time, it is not enough to have money and land."
When King Xuan of Qi heard this, he was a little unhappy: "What do you say? Our country of Qi is vast and rich and rich in the world. Isn't it powerful enough?"
Mencius shook his head and said, "King, don't get me wrong. What I mean is that if a country wants to be truly powerful, it is not enough to have money and land. You have to think about it. If there are no ministers in the country who can uphold the laws, no talents to help the court correct their mistakes, and there are no enemies and worries outside the country, such a country will easily perish."
This is, if you enter, you cannot pass the family and leave, you will be invincible with foreign patients and the country will die.
When King Xuan of Qi heard this, he was stunned. He couldn't understand why it was not good to have no enemies? Mencius continued: "King, think about it, if the country is peaceful and peaceful inside and outside, people will easily be content with the status quo and do not want to make progress. Over time, the court will be corrupt and the people will be lazy, and the country will slowly decline. On the contrary, with the enemy country and worries, we can make everyone always be vigilant and make continuous progress."
After hearing this, King Xuan of Qi thought. He asked, "So, according to your opinion, what should I do to make Qi strong?"
Mencius said: "King, you must listen to different voices more and not just those who say good things. Pay more attention to the hidden dangers of the country and always be vigilant. You must also cultivate capable talents and let them give advice to the country."
After hearing Mencius's words, King Xuan of Qi suddenly realized. He felt that Mencius's words were too reasonable, so he wanted to keep Mencius as his national teacher.
Mencius politely declined. He said, "King, I am just a lobbyist and not suitable to be a national teacher. Just listen to my words, the key depends on how you do it yourself."
The conversation quickly spread throughout the vassal states. Everyone was shocked by Mencius's words. Some people said, "Mencius is too powerful, and it points out the key to governing the country in one sentence."
Some people also said: "Mencius said this very interestingly. I didn't expect that the country was too comfortable and was not a good thing."
Some people also said: "Mencius was really brilliant. He applied the principle of "born in distress and died in happiness" to govern the country."
Why can these words shock the princes in the world? Mencius's words subverted people's inherent thinking. In that era, everyone thought that the more peaceful the country, the better, but they didn't expect that Mencius said that it would be bad if there were no foreign troubles in the country. This uncommon sense view is refreshing. Mencius's words point out the true meaning of governing the country. He emphasized the importance of internal supervision and external pressure, which was a very avant-garde idea at that time. Mencius's words revealed a profound law of human nature. People are prone to slack off in comfort, but can work hard to improve in distress. This principle is not only applicable
It also applies to the country. Mencius's words reminded the princes. In that era of conflict in the Warring States Period, many princes were thinking about how to eliminate the enemy and unify the world. Mencius's words made them realize that the existence of the enemy may not be a bad thing, and the key was to use this pressure to improve it by themselves. After this spread, many princes began to reflect on their own ways of governing the country. Some princes began to pay attention to talents and open up ways of speaking; some princes began to strengthen internal management to prevent corruption; some princes began to pay attention to people's livelihood and improve the living standards of the people.
This chapter is not finished yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content behind! Mencius's words not only influenced the princes at that time, but also influenced many rulers in later generations.
For example, Liu Bang of the Han Dynasty paid special attention to the use of people. He said: "I am not as good as Zifang when planning and winning thousands of miles away; I am not as good as Zifang; I am not as good as Xiao He; even a million troops will win in battles and take out attacks, I am not as good as Han Xin." Isn't this practicing Mencius's thoughts? For example, Emperor Taizong of Tang Li Shimin also attached great importance to accepting advice. He said: "Using copper as a mirror can correct his clothes; using ancient as a mirror can know the rise and fall; using people as a mirror can understand gains and losses." Isn't this also implementing Mencius' suggestions? Mencius's words can shock the princes of the world because it reveals a profound philosophy: comfort is the greatest danger. This principle applies not only to the country, but also to individuals.
Take practice as an example. A monk asked the master: "Why did I still have no progress in my practice for so many years?" The master said: "Because you are so comfortable." The monk was puzzled, so the master told a story: Once upon a time, a young man wanted to learn martial arts. He found a martial arts master and asked him to be his disciple. The master agreed, but put forward a condition: Every morning, the young man had to climb to the top of the mountain to carry water. The young man worked hard every day to climb mountains and carry water, day after day, year after year. He felt that his martial arts had not made any progress at all, so he asked the master: "Master, I am carrying water every day, why did my martial arts still not improve?"
The master said, "Okay, you can try to fetch water now."
The young man picked it up and found that the bucket was as light as a feather. Only then did he realize that the hard training day after day had greatly enhanced his strength and endurance.
This story tells us that true progress is often accomplished without realizing it. Just as Mencius said, "Born in distress and die in happiness", we can only truly grow in difficulties and challenges. This principle is the same in practice. Many people believe that practice is to stay away from the world and find a pure place to meditate well. In fact, it is not true that true practice is to hone one's mind in daily life. Just as the Buddha taught his disciples: "If there is no fear in life and death, entering Nirvana is like returning home." This means that if one can practice in the troubles of life and death without fear, then it is true liberation.
Whether it is governing the country, practicing, or personal growth, you cannot be greedy for comfort. You must always be vigilant and constantly challenge yourself to truly make progress. The reason why Mencius’s words shocked the princes in the world is because they reveal this profound truth. It is not only applicable to national governance, but also to personal practice, and it can even be said to be a universal philosophy of life. These words tell us not to be afraid of difficulties and challenges, because it is these difficulties and challenges that can make us stronger.
As the Buddha said: "All conditioned dharmas are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows." Everything in the world is impermanent, including the difficulties we encounter.
But it is these difficulties that give us the opportunity to transcend ourselves and reach a higher level.
Unfortunately, the Pantheon's guys had no idea of this. They were so smooth. They only had the scraps of materials that the great forces in the universe didn't want. In those worlds, except for some basic resources, there were basically only those living people who could use them.
These things are not caring about the major forces in the universe... They are not enough to plunder the spacecraft's fuel expenses, so other forces directly ignore the behavior of the Pantheon, and the Pantheon is also aware of it. They trade with major forces and make full use of biological resources... that is, population.
Just like Americans selling blood.
In order to make money, the blood products industry in the United States is growing wildly, regardless of the risks behind it. You may not know that the United States is actually the world's largest exporter of blood products. In 2022, their blood products exports reached US$43 billion, accounting for 70% of the global market; in 2023, the weight of human plasma they exported reached 30,378 tons, equivalent to the total blood volume of 7.5 million adults; by 2024, the revenue from blood products exports actually exceeded the traditional pillar industries such as automobile parts and soybeans, and became the sixth largest export commodity in the year.
The blood products industry in the United States has developed very vigorously, mainly due to the prosperity of the pharmaceutical industry. In the 1970s, technological progress greatly increased the demand for blood in the pharmaceutical industry. In order to obtain more blood as a raw material for pharmaceuticals, major pharmaceutical companies have built a large number of blood donation centers, even prisons across the United States. They exchanged fresh blood by giving money. This blind expansion and profit-seeking business model has allowed those multinational pharmaceutical giants to make a fortune.
It was not until May 20 last year when British Prime Minister Sunak apologized to the victims and their families for the blood pollution scandal that the tragedy that lasted nearly half a century was known to the public. In the UK, about 3,000 people died from the use of contaminated blood products, and another 30,000 were infected with AIDS and hepatitis C virus. Most of these victims are people with hemophilia, who need to use plasma products for a long time. Hemophilia is a hereditary disease, with problems with the patient's coagulation function and joint damage as he ages. This disease cannot be cured and can only be done through
Regular treatment is used to relieve symptoms and maintain quality of life. In the 1970s, scientists discovered something called the Eighth Coagulation Factor, which is particularly helpful to patients with hemophilia. They extract this factor from the blood of healthy people and make injections to allow hemophilia patients to inject it, so that their lives can be much easier. Moreover, this treatment method is very simple. Patients can inject intravenously through their hands at home, and take it twice or three times a week, each time for no more than five minutes. Therefore, using plasma products containing the Eighth Coagulation Factor to treat hemophilia became the mainstream method at that time.
In 1975, the UK established a blood product laboratory, intending to provide blood products to patients across the country. However, the laboratories were not produced enough, so the UK had to import a large amount of blood products from the United States. Although the World Health Organization reminded all countries not to import foreign blood products, the UK continued to import. The United States has always paid people to donate blood. Many poor people sell blood to make more money, and some addicts even sell blood to buy drugs. Many blood donation centers are located in slums, and the environment and personnel situation are very complicated. The plasma products of the Eighth Clotting Factor are mixed and extracted from the blood of many people. As long as the blood of an infected person is mixed in, thousands of plasma products will be contaminated.
Later, an investigative reporter named Kelly Duda made a documentary called "The Eighth Blood Coagulation Factor: The Arkansas Prison Blood Scandal". This film reveals an amazing fact: the Arkansas prison system has made a lot of money by selling prisoners' plasma for many years, and many of these prisoners have suffered from viral hepatitis and AIDS. Statistics show that in the 1970s, at least 1% of American blood donors were infected with hepatitis C. Since that era, some people in the UK have had hepatitis of unknown reasons, and it was not confirmed that it was hepatitis C until 15 years later. Then, the more terrifying HIV also mixed into blood products imported from the United States. Due to the chaos in paid blood donation and blood collection management in the United States, blood products were contaminated, which brought huge disasters to the world.
The same is true for the Pantheon, they export these ‘high-quality’ biological resources…population!
Not to mention, this thing is quite popular in the universe, and the Pantheon is not only large in volume but also very cheap!
It’s hard to imagine that these guys in the pantheon look so disgusting behind them!
It is also because of this that Geer has never been trained. He has been smooth sailing and his mentality has not been trained at all!
