"If people eat sheep, the sheep will die as people, and the people will die as sheep, and so on, even for ten lives, life and death, eating each other, all bad karma is born, and the future is limited. Such things are based on stealing and greed."
Monk Wu Bian's response is an allusion from the Surangama Sutra.
The Buddha believed that people eating animals was just repaying injustice, going through life and death, and would eventually sacrifice their lives to pay for it, sinking into a sea of misery.
Sure enough, as soon as he finished speaking, the monks around him began to praise him.
"As expected of a compassionate Buddha, he can quote scriptures so quickly."
With the opening words of Monk Boundless, Monk Ye Hui, a disciple of the Guangming Buddha beside him, was naturally not to be outdone. He also proclaimed the name of the Buddha and said loudly:
"Weird, weird, grandson marrying grandma.
The pigs and sheep were sitting on the bed, and the six relatives were cooking in the pot.
A daughter eats her mother's flesh, and a son beats his father's skin.
Everyone comes to congratulate me, but I think it’s really hard!”
When all the monks heard this, they clasped their hands together and said, "It's a sin, it's a sin."
Li Chen nodded slightly. In fact, this limerick written by Guangming Buddha also quoted from the classics.
It comes from the mouth of the eminent monk "Monk Zhigong" of "Quepian Temple" five hundred years ago.
This monk Zhi Gong is incredible. He has reached the state of Taoism through practice. He has five eyes and six powers, can understand cause and effect, and knows coming and going.
One day, a wealthy family held a happy event and held a large banquet, so they invited Monk Zhi Gong to chant sutras.
As a result, as soon as the monk Zhi Gong entered the door, he was startled by the sight in front of him.
The young and old in this family are entangled in the reincarnation of cause and effect, so they came up with this limerick.
"Grandson marries grandma" means that before her death, the grandmother of this family could not let go of her precious grandson and was full of regrets for not being able to see her grandson get married and start a family.
So after his death, he went to the underworld with many worries. Then the Lord of Hell said: "Since you love your grandson so much, then you will be his wife in the next life and take good care of her."
So the old lady reincarnated and became the wife of her grandson in this life.
"The pigs and sheep sit on the bed and the six relatives cook in the pot" means that the host family used to specialize in cattle and sheep business.
The cattle and sheep that were slaughtered in the past were reincarnated as humans in this life, and instead became guests of honor.
But the six relatives who used to love eating beef and mutton were instead entrusted to be reborn as cattle and sheep and were slaughtered to pay off debts.
"A woman eats her mother's flesh" refers to a woman at the table next door who was holding a pig's trotters and eating it with gusto. Unexpectedly, she was the reincarnation of her mother.
"The son beats the father's leather drum." Monk Zhigong looked at those who were playing music, playing gongs and drums, trumpets, and flutes. It was so lively!
A man was playing the drum hard. The drum was made of donkey skin, and the donkey turned out to be his father in his previous life!
At this time, "everyone came to congratulate me." Everyone thought it was a happy day, but Monk Zhigong just sighed: "I said it was really bitter!" In fact, people take pleasure in suffering!
Although this limerick seems simple, it actually puts an end to the suffering of karma and reincarnation.
So just now after Guangming Buddha finished chanting, all the monks chanted "sin, sin, sin".
It can be seen from this that what Guangming Buddha and Compassionate Buddha taught are the cause and effect of killing, and reincarnation recurs.
The harm of killing lies in cause and effect and reincarnation.
But Li Chen laughed it off. Even if there was talk of reincarnation in these two stories, they were probably mixed with a lot of fictional elements.
It is intended to warn all living beings about the suffering of killing and eating meat.
Da Leiyin Temple, Da Ci'en Temple, Da Guangming Temple and the three major Xian Temples are juxtaposed.
Since the Compassionate Buddha and the Bright Buddha came out one after another, there is no reason why the Leiyin Buddha should not come out.
What's more, the topic of 'killing' in the decree came from his hand.
Leiyin Buddha curled his lips, neither doing Zen rituals nor holding any magical tools. He strode to the front without even pronouncing the Buddha's name, and said loudly: "The parrot swallowed the pearl, and the ascetics bear the blame."
Although it was just a short sentence and sounded vague, a few people's eyes lit up.
This sentence by Lei Yin Buddha is actually a story in the Sutra of Miscellaneous Examples.
It is said that there was a Samana who went begging to a jewelry seller's house one day.
The owner of the house prepared a meal for the ascetic and went out.
At that time, there happened to be an orb worth hundreds of millions in that house, and there happened to be a parrot fed by the owner next to the window.
This parrot was very curious and greedy, so it swallowed the orb in one gulp while no one was paying attention.
When the master came back, he found that the pearl was missing, so he asked the ascetic.
The Samana knew the whereabouts of the pearl, but he said, "I didn't take it."
Then the host asked again if anyone had been here. The ascetic replied no.
The master said: "Since no one else has been here, who else could have stolen it if it wasn't you?"
After saying this, he picked up the whip and beat the monk.
Suddenly, when the parrot saw the blood flowing from Samana's body, it flew over to drink the blood. As a result, it was hit by the whip and fell to the ground immediately.
At this time, the Samana opened his mouth and said, "It was the parrot that ate the pearl."
When the owner heard this, he cut open the parrot's abdomen and found the orb. Then he realized that he had mistakenly blamed the Samana, so he asked in confusion: "Why didn't you tell me that the parrot ate it earlier?"
The ascetic said: "I uphold the Buddhist precepts not to kill any living being. If I say that I am afraid of killing the parrot, even if you beat me to death, I cannot say it. But now that the parrot is dead, I can only say it."
After the master heard about it, he felt extremely regretful and quickly apologized to the ascetic.
And this allusion is what Leiyin Buddha said: "The parrot swallowed the pearl, and the ascetics bear the blame."
The ascetic would rather suffer harm himself than harm the parrot indirectly.
Compared with those told by Ci En Buddha and Guangming Buddha, the allusions told by Lei Yin Buddha are undoubtedly more vivid.
Lei Yin Buddha turned his head and took a look, very satisfied with the reaction of the monks.
Finally, his eyes fell on Li Chen's face, and that meaningful smile appeared at the corner of his mouth.
But at this moment, a clear and sweet female voice suddenly came from the crowd: "Amitabha."
When the monks heard the words, they all followed the sound and looked around.
Li Chen was also stunned, because the voice was not far from him.
Turning around, she saw a master's wife with curved eyebrows and bright eyes. The most impressive thing was her skin, which was as white as mutton fat, and even her scalp had a crystal clear feel.
He looks slightly younger than Li Chen.
She looked solemn, moved her lotus steps lightly, put her hands together and bowed to the monks, and then said: "There are two people in the word meat, and the inside is connected to the outside person.
Living beings still eat the flesh of living beings, think carefully about human beings eating human beings.”
Her voice is crisp and melodious, but her tone remains consistent. Listen carefully, and if it rings in your ears, it will take root in your heart.
"It turns out to be the young master Yueyin from Baiyun Temple. She is really smart and flawless."

When Li Chen heard this, he thought to himself: It turns out to be her!
The Auspicious Dharma Assembly is a sacred ceremony for Buddhists all over the world, so naturally nuns also participate in it.
And this young master Yueyin is a leader of the younger generation who has become famous in Buddhism in recent years.
Even in southern Xinjiang, this nun is famous.
