Chapter 21 Forest Celebration

In the early morning, the entire village of Laksius was shrouded in a thick layer of fog.

Last night's ceremony did not last until late at night. Before 11 o'clock, the villagers went back to their homes with torches. However, the furniture in the square will not be moved back until today's forest celebration is over.

Brutus slept surprisingly well. He didn't feel any sleepiness when he woke up in the morning, and he was full of energy. When he opened the window, he was surprised to find that the surrounding area was foggy, and even the houses opposite were foggy.

I can only see a rough outline.

After washing up, Brutus opened the door, and he and Marcus made an appointment to meet outside Marcus's house at six o'clock.

He took out his pocket watch and took a look. It was now five fifty. Brutus didn't know if it was too late to set off now. After all, it was very difficult to find the way under the current circumstances.

He took a stick from the wall next to the door - the same one he had played with before - and used it as a cane as he walked on the road to Marcos' house.

There were bumps and bumps along the way, but before reaching the destination, he and Marcos met in the thick fog.

"Mr. Brutus, I thought you might not know the way in such a heavy fog, so I didn't expect to meet you here." Marcus breathed a sigh of relief, "To be honest, such heavy fog is really rare."

"Yes, was it also foggy at your previous celebration?" Brutus continued to collect information.

"It happens occasionally, but it's just a mist. It's so thick that I can barely see the road. This is the first time I've seen it." Marcus motioned for Brutus to follow him, "Mr. Brutus, follow me."

."

The two of them walked out of the village closely, crossed the river on the east side of the village from the bridge, and came to the edge of the forest on the east bank, where other children were already waiting for them.

"How can we determine our destination in such a heavy fog?" Brutus looked at the forest in the fog. He seriously suspected that he might get lost in the dense forest not long after entering.

"Mr. Brutus, we just need to follow the guidance of the forest goddess." Sonia introduced to Brutus, "Follow her guidance, go to the predetermined location, and play a game of hide and seek there.

But what we are looking for is not people, but items.

"Won't it take long?"

"No, it used to only take one morning."

Well, a morning might not be that long to find an item in the forest...

Marcus took out two pieces of black linen and handed one to Brutus: "Mr. Brutus, we still have to wear this, blindfold us, and don't take it off even during the search.

"

Brutus looked at the linen in his hand and was speechless. Now he thought that only one morning was too conservative: "Won't it hit a tree?"

"Trust in the guidance of the satyr, Mr. Brutus."

"Then what are you looking for?"

“It’s different every year, but when you find it, you’ll feel like ‘this is it’.”

Okay, those of you who believe in gods are different, but this one is real, and the ones in the original world were magic sticks... Brutus saw that other children were wearing them, so he had to give it to himself with doubts

His eyes were covered with black cloth and tied in a knot at the back of his head.

At first he thought it was no different from wearing an eye patch, but he soon realized that the situation was a little different.

It's the wind... Brutus feels that his hearing and touch have improved a lot. He can clearly distinguish the direction of the wind. In the dense forest, the direction of the wind is not fixed, but changes at any time.

.

Brutus followed the wind and walked into the woods. At first, he just took small steps forward to avoid tripping on stones or other things, but gradually he found that he seemed to be able to walk bolder, just like

On flat ground there is no difference.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, he felt that the wind around him began to become weaker until it disappeared completely. Brutus knew that he had reached his destination. He wanted to take off the black cloth in front of him and take a look at the surrounding environment, but he thought

Marcus finally suppressed his curiosity.

Since the legend has been proven to be a fact, don't try the taboos or precautions mentioned in it. Brutus clearly understands that in such a world, curiosity can really kill the cat.

But that doesn’t mean you can’t speak…

"Marcus? Marvin? Sonia? Is anyone else here?" He called the children's names, but no one answered.

"Well, it seems I'm the only one here." Brutus whispered to himself, "So what should we do next?"

He wanted to sit down and start smashing it, but his reason told him that he had to do something. He squatted down and touched around, but there was nothing but dirt and leaves.

"Why can't you think that this is it?" Brutus's mind twitched for no reason, and he reached out to pick up the leaf he just touched, "Yes, this is it."

He uses affirmative sentences to emphasize and confirm his thoughts.

If the legend is true, then the key point is: the object is not unique, as long as you think it is, maybe it really is.

Brutus didn't know whether his idea was right, but he still opened the black linen and looked at the leaves in his hands.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a very common leaf.

"Okay." Brutus smiled wryly and shrugged, "It seems that even guessing has to follow basic rules."

But he didn't throw the leaves back, instead he put them in his pocket.

Brutus looked at his surroundings. The fog had dispersed long ago, and he walked out of the forest along the path he had taken before.

And in the pocket of his invisible clothes, the leaves inside shone with a green light like a naughty one, and then turned back into the ordinary leaves that Brutus had seen before.

Brutus was the first to come out of the forest. He sat on a boulder and waited for the children to come out one by one. The last one to come out was Marcus, who looked a little dazed.

Upon seeing this, Brutus walked forward quickly and worriedly, holding Marcus's shoulders: "Marcus, are you okay? Are you not injured?"

"No, I just-"

Marcus's eyes were full of surprise, trance, and excitement. He seemed to have fully reacted and said excitedly: "I just saw the forest goddess, and she seemed to talk to me."

"What did she say?" Brutus asked the question that the other children also wanted to ask.

"She said - she said -" Marcos frowned and tried to remember, but found that he couldn't seem to remember anything, "I can't remember."

"Is it about blessings, daily chat, or a word of encouragement?" Brutus knew that this would inevitably happen when he was too excited, and he tried to guide Marcus to recall the previous scene.

"I think it should be a word of encouragement?" Marcus was a little unsure.

Brutus put his hands on Marcus's shoulders and said: "She said, let's do it this way, Marcus?"

Marcus opened his mouth, but his lips trembled and no sound came out for a while. Then he said something similar to Brutus: "The goddess said to me, do what you want, Marcus."
