Chapter Thirty: Violet

It was not yet 9 o'clock, and there was no one in the Lion Tavern. The three of them just sat down in front of the bar.

"A glass of fruit wine." The masked woman seemed to be very familiar with this. She threw a copper lattice at the bartender who was cleaning the wine glass, "I also invited them both."

"I'll have a glass of orange juice." Brutus glanced at the menu and found that there were quite a few people he recognized.

As for Juno, both of them directly agreed that minors cannot drink alcohol and ordered her a glass of orange juice.

As if by magic, the bartender had just held a wine glass in one hand and a rag in the other, but in just the blink of an eye he had mixed the two glasses of fruit wine and placed them on the bar. As for the Copper Rat, he had probably already put it in his pocket.

Brutus raised his eyebrows slightly. He felt that the bartender's movements were really fast, and he didn't even see how he did it.

"Let me introduce myself first, I am Brutus." He looked at the masked woman who was drinking fruit wine with an expression of enjoyment in her eyes - she had already taken off the veil on her face, "I don't know what I should call you?"

Brutus felt that this woman's appearance was very stunning, and her beauty was heart-moving. But he only looked at her twice more and then looked away - he was not an animal in estrus, and appreciation and possession were two different things.

"Violet." Violet shook the wooden cup, and the fruit wine inside was still two-thirds full. "Such a sweetness is really enjoyable."

"As long as Miss Willett likes it." The bartender smiled and wiped the wooden cup in his hand - it seemed that he had changed it to another one.

Violet took another sip, then placed the wooden cup on the bar: "Let's start talking about business."

"I wonder if you know anything about the difference between legends and rumors?"

"Basically not." Brutus shook his head and took a sip of orange juice - it was sour and sweet, but not bad. "I only know that the contents of the legend may have been passed down by word of mouth based on the facts that happened."

Violet glanced at Brutus, and then continued to play with the wooden cup in his hand: "This shows that you still have some understanding, but in fact, even if it has not happened yet, it may become a legend.

, and then maybe one day it will become a reality.”

She continued to explain: "Many legends evolved based on rumors. In my opinion, the following points need to be met to complete such a transformation."

"First, such rumors need to be widely circulated in a region."

"Second, it needs to have the basic conditions for its realization, such as specific weather, specific time, specific people, specific rituals, etc. Of course, these things I mentioned do not need to be all present."

"Third, therefore, if suitable conditions are created artificially to make rumors that meet the above two points become reality, then such rumors may be transformed into legends and then have the effect of legends."

"Because the legend is the reality of what happened, but it has been artificially modified."

This way I understand... Brutus felt that he should keep this information in mind, as it might come in handy in the future.

But he still didn’t quite understand some things: “So is God like this too?”

"Do you believe in any god?" Violet stared at Brutus's cheek.

He turned his head and looked at Violet, then quickly looked away: "I acknowledge its existence, but I don't believe in any gods."

"Faith is the basis of their existence, of course there are exceptions. Moreover, these gods only have some authority in a village or a town. In big cities with more diverse beliefs, faith only makes their existence stronger.

."

Violet drank all the fruit wine in the wooden cup and put on her veil. She found that after she took off her veil, the guy next to her seemed to be trying to avoid looking at her for too long.

"I guess my appearance is not so scary."

"Of course not. On the contrary, she is very beautiful. I'm just not used to keeping eye contact with a very beautiful woman." Brutus also drank the orange juice in his hand, "In addition, I am very curious about your identity."

"I am a flower and bird diviner. This is my badge. You can take a look." Violet put her right hand into her cloak, took off a silver round badge from her chest and gave it to Brutus to take a look.

"Generally, there will be two to three flower and bird fortune tellers stationed in a viscounty. Their daily work is mainly to assist the security battalion in detecting difficult cases, but our most important responsibility is to monitor local religious affairs."

"Because the kingdom issued an immigration order at the end of last summer, the other two older fortune tellers went to support the more remote border areas, so now I am the only one in the Viscounty of St. Raphael to handle these affairs."

"After a large number of people poured into Tetuo Town, the strength of the guard camp became very weak, and I have to investigate various rumors that have arisen recently, so I cannot leave to help deal with security issues for the time being."

But I see you are quite free now... Brutus thinks this guy is fishing with pay, but of course he will not say this out loud.

Violet seemed to have seen through Brutus's inner thoughts: "You may think that I am doing nothing now, but in fact my work has already begun."

"Mr. Brutus, it seems to me that you and trouble are quite connected."

Brutus touched the beard that had just grown on his chin and felt that things seemed to be interesting: "What a coincidence, I feel the same way."

"Either you are synonymous with trouble, causing trouble wherever you go." Violet's blue eyes seemed to have the ability to see through people's hearts. She said seriously, "Or you are the destroyer of trouble, causing trouble wherever you go."

Makes a good shit-stirring stick."

"This metaphor is too disgusting." Brutus almost couldn't help but want to spray orange juice in her face, "So how did Miss Violet target me?"

"Of course -" Violet's white and slender fingers pinched a petal with white roots and light red edges, and then flicked it into the air between the two of them.

She looked at Brutus and said softly in a cold voice: "Flower and bird divination."

Brutus followed the petals falling in mid-air, and saw that when they were at the level of his eyes, they suddenly started to burn, and soon turned into burnt ashes.

"Villette, I've told you so many times, don't play with fire here." A blond man with a monocle poked his head out of the door behind the bar, "I won't let you do it next time."

Entered my tavern."

"There won't be another time, I promise." Violet quickly apologized to him, and the aura of the magician disappeared without a trace in an instant.

"That's what you said last time." The boss gave Violet a disgusted look, "Don't play with fire in my pile of wood, you won't do it again."

Violet clasped her hands together, bouncing up and down with the frequency of her nodding: "I remember it, I really remember it this time."

The blond man looked at Brutus and Juno: "Hello, you two, I am Robert, the owner of this tavern."

"Brutus, nice to meet you, Boss Robert."
