Chapter 76 On the way to the tavern

Although the moonlight was shining brightly tonight, it was obviously dwarfed by the firelight that illuminated half of the town of Tateto.

The main streets of Tatto Town were noisy as usual. Brutus was running in the shadows. He had to rush to the Lion Tavern to share the information with Robert, and also planned with him the preparations for tomorrow.

.

Originally, he planned to go all the way to the tavern, but this idea quickly disappeared when a fire broke out on the way.

Brutus stood under a building outside the fire scene, looking at the busy people not far away from him. Compared with the streets he passed before, it was much more "lively" here, and from time to time he could hear voices mixed with wailing.

Cheers and cheers.

After looking around for a while, Brutus luckily found a road that seemed to avoid the crowds and avoid the fire scene.

The temperature of the flame came from a distance, making Brutus, who was already sweating, feel even hotter. He wiped the sweat from his forehead with the sleeve of his right hand, and secretly estimated the remaining distance in his mind.

"Help! Someone help me."

"Is there anyone else? Help!"

Brutus heard this faint cry for help and immediately stopped to see if he could lend a helping hand - of course, if conditions allowed, he would never put himself in danger.

people.

Following the direction from which the cry for help came, Brutus carefully avoided the burning house and quickly passed through the passage that had not been affected by the fire.

"Help!" The volume of the cry for help was a little weaker than before, and it sounded like he could no longer hold on.

Brutus was about to speak out to ask the person asking for help to hold on, but he stopped just as he was about to speak. He remained silent and continued to move in the direction of his goal.

"Bang——" The collapsed building materials next to him suddenly exploded. Brutus, who was already highly vigilant, immediately moved a few steps to the left and raised his right hand to cover his face.

Seeing the thick smoke getting thicker, Brutus lowered his body and coughed quietly from time to time.

He was already thinking about retreating, but after a brief hesitation, he decided to go forward for half a minute to see the situation.

"Help - cough cough - help - cough cough -" In the occasional explosions and the sound of building collapse, Brutus was keenly aware of the already very weak cry for help, and he judged the relationship between the two.

The distance is already quite close.

He walked through the paths in the two ruins and saw the figure pressed underneath by a burning wooden beam.

"Will?" Brutus remembered from his own memory that this was near Will's house, and he shouted to the other party loudly.

This call gave the other party another desire to live, and he shouted hoarsely: "I-ahem-I'm here!"

"Will." Brutus avoided the raging fire and ran to the opponent not far in front of Will. This time he confirmed the opponent's identity and rushed forward, but was blocked by the collapsed building materials due to deflagration.

the nearest road.

"Brutus?" Will seemed to recognize Brutus's voice. He boosted his spirits again and shouted to Brutus with a cough, "I'm afraid I can't get out.

Now, tell Robert, I—"

"I - cough - I have to hand over every penny of the salary I deposited with him to my mother."

"You have to hold on, I will find a way to rescue you." Brutus and Will have a good relationship. Although the two are far from trusting each other's lives, they are still capable of lending a helping hand in an emergency.

There are so many points.

"You should leave quickly, otherwise you will--"

"Boom -" Will's words stopped abruptly with the sound of another building material collapsing to the ground. Brutus looked at the flames between him and Will, and was stunned for a few seconds.

"Damn it." Brutus, who had recovered his senses, cursed and turned around and ran in the direction he came from.

After going through another dangerous process, Brutus, who had some scratches on his body, rushed out of the firelight holding his left arm, and continued running towards the tavern in the eyes of the newly arrived guards with astonishment.

.

"Hey, wait, you're injured!" The guard captain wanted to stop him, but Brutus didn't respond and continued running.

"Captain, could he be the arsonist? I'll follow him and catch him."

"Stop working blindly, let's clean up the mess here first!" The team leader stopped the eager guards, "Everyone, move, we have to control the fire."

"Yes, Captain!"

Four guards carried buckets of water in their hands and poured water into the fire scene. The other four carried empty buckets and ran to the wells in the nearby neighborhood to carry water back. The guards beside the team leader were not idle either. He had to go from house to house to destroy the fire.

Civilians affected by the fire gathered together to solve the problem here.

"I hope this thing can be of some use." The squad leader looked at the scroll in his hand. This was the water magic scroll that the guard camp had urgently issued to each squad. He followed the captain's demonstration in his memory and started to use it.

At first, a thin stream of water flowed from the scroll in his hand to the ground, but soon a water column as thick as an arm was sprayed directly in front of the scroll.

"This can save a lot of time." The team leader temporarily let go of the big stone in his heart, but he and his team still have to race against time.

And outside their sight, Brutus stopped panting at the door of the Lion Tavern. It was close to the center of the town and naturally not easily affected by the fire.

Fortunately, there were some guards in the guard camp who knew him, otherwise he would have had to work harder to let the two guards who blocked him pass.

He raised his hand to knock on the edge of the third wooden window next to the back door of the tavern - this was the emergency contact information Robert had told him. As soon as he knocked, the back door of the tavern was opened, as if Robert had been waiting here.

.

"It seems that you are in good spirits." Brutus looked at the other person and said, "There is something big going on in the town."

"What is supposed to come will always come, just like you appearing here now." Robert looked at Brutus with a very deep look, but it seemed that he was not looking at Brutus but at the darkness behind him, "

Let’s go in and talk.”

"Okay." Brutus walked into the tavern calmly, and Robert closed and locked the door.

This was the first time Brutus came to the back of the tavern, where several rooms were separated by several wooden walls. Now he was in a warehouse mixed with many functions, and the walls were filled with alleys.

"Will died in the fire." As soon as they sat down, Brutus was the first to tell Robert the news.

Robert was silent for a while: "Did he leave any words?"

"Let you give his wages to his mother."

"I will." Robert nodded, "You obviously didn't come here just to tell me the news, right? I must first state that the help I can give you is very limited."

"Is Juno here?"

"It's a coincidence that I left her here tonight. The future seems to have more variables, especially-" Robert looked at Brutus, everything was self-evident, "But I'm not very curious about what happened to you, okay?

We’ll talk about it later. Now let’s talk about what we need to do tomorrow.”

"But before that, maybe we should spend a little time discussing history?"

The vague smile on Robert's face made Brutus a little more vigilant: "Then where should we start?"
