In the evening, when the rain stopped, Bai Fu lit a bonfire, dried clothes, and barbecued potatoes, corn and other food.
When the food was cooked, the crazy monk smelled the aroma and came over, followed by a young scholar-looking man. The crazy monk huddled next to the fire to keep warm, with clear snot hanging from his cheeks. The scholar knelt down without saying a word.
Sit next to him.
Bai Fu thought that although the crazy monk was slovenly and crazy, if he hadn't interrupted him today, he would have fed the fish and shrimps in the river. Speaking of which, he saved his own life. So he didn't drive the crazy monk away, but handed it to him.
I gave him some roasted corn.
When the mad monk saw that there was something to eat, he smiled happily and was not polite. After eating a lot, he burped. After picking his teeth with a branch, he picked up a few piles of dried cow dung as firewood and roasted taro himself.
The scholar knelt beside the mad monk, with a peaceful expression. The mad monk seemed not to have seen him, took out two roasted taros from the cow dung, and ate them with his mouth open. After taking two bites, he stopped and scolded the scholar for being unkind and demanding.
Come and steal his things. While cursing and eating, he suddenly turned around and handed the half-eaten taro to the scholar.
Seeing this, Bai Fu felt nauseated in his stomach and intestines. Unexpectedly, the scholar followed it respectfully, not thinking it was dirty, and ate it properly. The crazy monk watched him finish the taro, clapped his hands and said with a smile: "Okay! Okay! You don't need to eat more."
I said, don’t follow me anymore. Seeing that you are very sincere, I promise you to be the Prime Minister of Taiping for ten years in the future! I won’t say anything about Taoism!"
Then, as if there was no one around, he vomited lotus flowers from his mouth and chanted loudly:
Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, walking in the deep Prajnaparamita for a long time, saw that the five aggregates are empty, and survived all the hardships.
…
Because there is nothing to gain, Bodhisattva, because of Prajna Paramita, the mind has no worries, because there are no worries, there is no fear, and it is far away from upside down dreams, and finally achieves nirvana.
…
When the scholar heard the mad monk singing, he was so mesmerized that he memorized it secretly.
After the mad monk recited it three times, he said: "This mantra is a secret Prajna, which cannot be understood by one's imagination. But if you recite it silently, the power will be achieved at a speed that is beyond comprehension, and it is unimaginable. However, this Prajna, so the power can be achieved."
The quickest thing is the inherent inner light of everyone. Buddhas have realized it and thought it has magical powers. If you can suddenly realize the original existence, the light will shine back at the moment. With a single thought, the relationship between life and death will suddenly crack: just like a thousand-year-old dark room, a lamp
If it can be broken, let alone ask for convenience. If we are determined to be born and die, we will never be able to survive without this!"
When the scholar heard this, he was enlightened.
The crazy monk ignored the scholar, walked around Bai Fu several times, looked up and down, and winked: "Ordinary people are Buddhas, and worries are Bodhisattva. If you think about it before, you are an ordinary person, and if you think about it later, you are a Buddha. If you think about it before, you are worries, and when you think about it later, you are worries.
Leaving the state is Bodhi."
Recite another verse:
"Speaking of the enlightenment and understanding of the mind is like the sun in the sky; only the teaching of seeing nature is the way to break the evil sect.
There is no suddenness or gradualness in the Dharma, and there is a delay in enlightenment; only this door of seeing nature cannot be understood by fools.
…
Buddhism is in the world and cannot be separated from worldly enlightenment; leaving the world to seek Bodhi is just like seeking a rabbit's horn.
The name of right view is born in the world, and wrong view is in the world; all wrong and right views are eliminated, and the bodhi nature is intact.
This hymn is a sudden teaching, also known as the Great Dharma Boat. I have been confused for a long time and have heard the sutra, but I can understand it in an instant."
After reciting, he patted his butt and drifted away.
The scholar stopped following him this time. He knelt on the ground, looked at the back of the crazy monk, and kowtowed several times.
When the crazy monk walked away, the scholar stood up, walked to Bai Fu's side, sat down cross-legged, and asked Bai Fu for some roasted corn. Bai Fu saw his elegant appearance and free and easy manners, and felt good about him.
Bai Fu asked: "I think the officials are also people who have read poetry and books, why are they so respectful to this crazy monk?" The scholar smiled and said: "Hello, little brother, I am Li Mi of Chang'an. I have been fond of Buddhism since I was a child.
He doesn't like fame and fame. He often searches for immortals in famous mountains such as Songshan Mountain, Huashan Mountain, Zhongnan Mountain, and Emei Mountain, hoping to learn the magic formula of immortality.
Half a year ago, I traveled to Lingyun Temple in Jiazhou and paid homage to the large Maitreya stone statue that was being built in Lingyun Temple.
This large Maitreya stone statue has a great origin. Jiazhou has been the confluence of three rivers since ancient times. The Minjiang River, Qingyi River, and Dadu River converged at the foot of Lingyun Mountain. The water flow was quite ferocious, and the boats were often overturned. Whenever there were summer floods, the river water rushed directly into the mountains.
Walls often cause tragedies such as shipwrecks and fatalities.
In the early years of Kaiyuan, Zen Master Haitong of Lingyun Temple initiated the construction of a large stone statue of Maitreya in order to reduce the power of the flood and save all living beings. Buddhist scriptures say that when Maitreya is born, "the world will be at peace", and Maitreya is the future Buddha who can bring light and happiness. Jiazhou people
I believe that after the construction of this Zhenjiang Buddha to calm floods, it will definitely give boaters the courage and determination to overcome the rapids and shoals.
Zen Master Haitong recruited manpower and material resources to repair the chisel. When the big Maitreya statue reached the shoulders, Zen Master Haitong passed away. After Zen Master Haitong passed away, the project was temporarily interrupted. Many years later, Zhangchou Jianqiong, the Jiedushi envoy of Jiannan Xichuan, donated his salary.
Jin, an apprentice of Zen Master Haitong, led the craftsmen to continue to build the Buddha. Due to the vastness of the project, the imperial court ordered a tax on sesame salt, which made the project progress rapidly. Today, although the Great Maitreya Stone Statue has not been completed, it has become the largest Buddha statue in the world, which is extremely shocking.
!
That night, I was sleeping in Lingyun Temple. I heard a monk reciting sutras, his voice was sad and euphemistic, and the sutras were compassionate and left a lasting impression. I knew that the reciting monk must be a wise man. After asking around,
Only then did I realize that this monk was not an eminent monk in the temple, but an old monk who worked hard at chopping firewood and carrying water. No one knew his name. This monk usually collected the leftovers that everyone had eaten to satisfy his hunger, and stretched when he was full.
, he found a corner to sleep, so everyone called him Lazy Can Monk.
Ordinary people don't know that the Buddha is by my side. But I am overjoyed. "Maitreya, the true Maitreya, has hundreds of billions of incarnations, showing himself to the world all the time, but the world doesn't know it." There must be profound meaning in what the Zen master does. So, I won't say it, but I often
Late at night in the cold winter, I went to look for him secretly alone. The Zen master never paid attention to me, and he just treated me as if I was no longer a person. I ate and slept as usual. I didn’t dare to disturb the Zen master’s meditation, but just stayed by his side. Two nights ago, the Zen master came from
I was fetching water from the well, and when I looked at the water, I was suddenly startled. Then I dropped my work, turned around and walked away. Knowing that something had happened, I quickly followed the Zen Master down the mountain. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary along the way. Until today, the Zen Master fell into the river.
, rescued by you."
Bai Fu was greatly ashamed, knowing that he was caught by the scholar today.
The scholar didn't expose it, took a bite of corn, and continued: "Do you believe it? I have served the Zen master for several months, and today he just talked to me for the first time. Speaking of which, it is thanks to your fate." After that,
He turned to look at Bai Fu, but didn't say anything for a while.
After eating the corn, Li Mi stood up, straightened his clothes, and said to Bai Fu, "Thank you for the delicious food. I will see you again someday. Let's just say goodbye today!" Bai Fu quickly stood up and returned the gift.
Li Mi took two steps, then turned back, stared at Bai Fu, his eyes were like torches, and said seriously: "Zen Master is master of all six magical powers, and all of them can see through time and space. I will definitely have a profound meaning for you today. I wish you well, little friend."
Take care of yourself." After saying that, his white clothes fluttered and he walked away.
Bai Fu was stunned on the spot, wondering what day it was today, and he met two madmen. That's just the mad monk. This scholar had a dignified appearance, but he could lose his mind and become mad. Master often said that practicing the supreme inner skill and mental method is the most dangerous.
If one practices self-cultivation without a teacher, he will often go astray. This Li Bi may be talented, but the unknown teacher inherited the Taoism, claims to be intelligent, and cultivates the way of heaven on his own. I am afraid that he is doing what his master said.
Thinking of his master, Bai Fu secretly felt sad. He stared at the bonfire for a long time before falling asleep.
The next day, as soon as the sun came out, the blue sky was as clear as a wash. The rivers on both sides of the river were rushing, rocks were piercing the sky, the waves were crashing on the shore, and thousands of piles of snow were rolled up. The country was picturesque, and there were many heroes at that time.
Bai Fu stood proudly on the boulder on the tidal flat and looked at the huge waves rolling into the sky. His heart was full of pride: "It's difficult to travel, it's difficult to travel, and there are many divergent roads. How can we survive now? There will be strong winds and waves, so we can hang up our sails and sail across the sea!"
