Chapter 89

Chapter 89 Verification

Yuan Shikai was naturally the most generous, with the highest account being recorded at 26,000 taels.

Seeing that Yuan Shikai offered so much money, Yikuang said it was a bit hard to accept, and immediately asked: "What does Weiting mean?"

Yuan Shikai laughed and said: "The prince is in a high position and has a lot of things to do every day! He works hard on weekdays. This is a small thought of mine and is not respectful. From now on, just let Weiting know if the prince has any instructions or if the house needs food and clothing."

Yikuang is someone who only accepts money when given, let alone such a large amount of money. Moreover, Yuan Shikai is now an important minister in the imperial court, and there are many benefits to building a good relationship with him. Now when people come to send money to his door, it is clear that they also want to build a relationship for themselves.

It can’t always be about fishing and law enforcement.

Yi Kuang said: "Weiting is serious! If the country had more talents like you, how could it be afraid of foreigners again?"

Yuan Shikai immediately said: "Hey! Your Majesty is the pillar of the country, I am just a person who works for the court."

Yi Kuang said: "What you are doing is not something that ordinary people can do. Please go in first!"

Yuan Shikai is the highest-ranking official present today. He is ranked first in the high-ranking bureau, so he naturally has to sit at the top.

Twenty-six thousand taels was not a painful amount for Yuan Shikai. In the future, Yikuang would earn almost tens of millions of taels from Yuan Shikai alone. He was definitely a big financial backer for Yikuang.

Yikuang also really reciprocated his love for Yuan Shikai. Later, the Qing government tried to kill Yuan Shikai many times, but Yikuang recommended him.

In fact, this shows that Yuan Shikai's money has been well spent.

Not long before the fall of the Qing Dynasty, Yuan Shikai even sent the largest bribe, as high as three million taels!

Our Prince Qing really dares to accept it!

I don’t know if he knew that he had sold the Qing Dynasty directly. Anyway, he fought hard for the reputation of “the nemesis of the Qing Dynasty”!

——He dares to accept money from revolutionaries, why can’t he accept money from Yuan Shikai?

Even Liang Qichao later had a crooked idea in order to establish the constitution as soon as possible: he wanted to bribe twenty censors at the same time and jointly signed a letter requesting the rapid establishment of the constitution.

After hearing this, Yikuang happily said: Yes, three thousand taels per censor!

ah?

Who dares to believe it?

I can only say that here in Yikuang, all beings are equal in front of money. Just do things if you give them money, no matter whether they are enemies or not, no one can bully you!

Yikuang received a lot of money today, but when Zhang Baixi and Ding Yuliang presented gifts, Yikuang's eyes were glazed over.

Zhang Baixi held a fan and said: "Your Majesty, this fan is made of unusual bamboo wood. It is made of Western fine steel, which means that the court is stable, just like gold and stone! The four characters on the fan are handwritten by the official himself, which means 'the breeze is coming slowly'.

The prince is in good health and his steps are like wind. Just because the prince is in good health, the imperial court will be in good health!"

This set of high-sounding words made Yi Kuang feel embarrassed and smiled awkwardly, "Master Zhang is worthy of being the Minister of Management and Education, and his intentions are really high! Too high!"

Ding Haoliang was an American, so he didn't have so many twists and turns. He didn't really want to participate in this traditional Chinese birthday banquet, so he congratulated Yi Kuang and left.

Li Yu's rank was too low, so he didn't have to meet Yi Kuang in person, but Zai Zhen saw him.

"Mr. Li! Thank you for writing the scientific chapter for my "Yingshao Diary" recently. I was deeply touched after reading it. The writing is really great."

Li Yu said casually: "It takes a little effort."

I thought, this is not to give Tang Wenzhi face.

Zai Zhen added: "I also heard that your high school ranked first in the Imperial College. I wonder what it's like in the Imperial College?"

"I don't know, school hasn't started yet. Is Master Bei also interested?"

It’s true that school didn’t start.

Zai Zhen said: "Amma asked me to study in the future. After all, even Mr. Li went to the university. I can definitely learn a lot of Western knowledge."

Li Yu was surprised: "You want to go to school too? The exam is over, right?"

Zai Zhen said casually: "There's nothing wrong with going to study, it's all from the imperial court. Besides, if you really need to take an exam, just let them take another exam."

Zai Zhen was so casual that he even regarded the Great Hall as the former Imperial College.

But he is a member of the royal family. If he really wants to go in, Zhang Baixi probably won't be able to stop him. There is no need to stop him. After all, it is impossible for such a person to really have the patience to study. Even if he does, he will leave soon.

There were many visiting officials today. Zai Zhen and Li Yu chatted for a few words and then immediately greeted other court officials.

Li Yu continued to wander for a few steps, and when he arrived near the stage, he saw Yang Xiaolou who was painting facial makeup.

"Mr. Yang." Li Yu called.

"Oh~~" Yang Xiaolou burst into laughter, "It's Brother Li! We've always wanted to thank you, but you haven't been in the capital recently."

Li Yu asked: "What can I thank you for?"

Yang Xiaolou said: "Thanks to the foreign box you used, the Queen Mother liked it very much and has allowed our team to perform in the palace many times. Now the Tongqing Class has completely opened up the scene in the capital!"

"It all depends on your good skills, otherwise no matter how good the gramophone is, it will be useless." Li Yu said.

"Then thank you too! How could we be where we are now without you! My adoptive father told me that I should keep my temper and learn more from foreigners in the future, also for the development of our Peking Opera."

"If Beijing opera can be promoted, Mr. Yang's contribution should be this." Li Yu gave a thumbs up.

Yang Xiaolou said: "I'm still far behind. But I really want to thank you this time. My adoptive father said that if Brother Li just says a word from now on, our Tongqing class can perform for you for free. You can choose the time and place."

, you can also bring along whatever fans you like, I guarantee that the venue will be high for you!"

What Yang Xiaolou is talking about is a whole-day performance.

Li Yu cupped his hands and said, "I won't refuse, but I certainly won't let your performance go in vain."

"Brother Li, you're welcome. That's all our troupe can do. By the way, do you have any favorite pieces? But it doesn't matter, we will do our best to rehearse it."

Li Yu was really confused by the question. He knew very little about Peking Opera. The only thing he knew about was common opera phrases such as "Blue-faced Dalton steals the royal horse", or Guo Degang's phrase "called Xiao Fan"

.

So Li Yu replied: "You are professionals, the repertoire is up to you."

Yang Xiaolou said: "Well, we will do our best tricks then!"

Li Yu thanked him and said, "That's very good."

Someone in the troupe called Yang Xiaolou, so he said to Li Yu: "I won't tell Brother Li for now. We have to prepare backstage. I will definitely have a few drinks with you in the future."

Li Yu said: "Okay, I'll look forward to your wonderful performance soon."

Li Yu actually didn't really want to have a birthday banquet here. They were all court officials. He didn't know a few of them, and he couldn't talk to them. When he was aimless, he met Yu Geng and Yu Xunling and his son.

Yu Geng came over and asked, "When did Mr. Li return to Beijing?"

Li Yu said: "It's Minister Yu! Not long after I came back, I have been busy with exams in the university hall."

Yu Xunling said: "I heard that you are number one in high school, congratulations!"

"Thank you!" Li Yu said with cupped hands.

Yu Xunling added: "The two sisters heard about you and were very happy for you."

"Yes, why don't you see the two sisters De Ling and Rongling?" Li Yu asked.

"They have now been recruited into the palace by the Queen Mother and have become female imperial officials." Yu Xunling said.

"It's so fast," Li Yu said in surprise, "Having lived abroad for so many years, are you getting used to coming back?"

Yu Xunling said: "There should be nothing uncomfortable, and the Queen Mother wants to learn Western social etiquette as soon as possible."

Li Yu asked: "Western etiquette?"

"Yes, the Queen Mother wants to learn the ways of Westerners and invite ministers and wives to have parties in the future."

Li Yu Wan'er was probably also advocated by the Yu family sisters who have lived overseas.

But when I think about the oppressive living environment in the palace, even Si Gege, who has been growing up in the palace, can't stand it, let alone the two lively teenage girls. I'm really worried about them.

However, since it was recommended by Yikuang and appointed by Cixi, the Yu family did not dare to say anything and could only obey the imperial edict. Moreover, Cixi is the supreme ruler of the Qing Dynasty after all. With two daughters beside Cixi, she has no influence on Yu Geng and Yu Geng.

There are benefits to the Yu family.

Women in this era are often just tools.

At the banquet, Li Yu and the Yu family sat together. Li Yu didn't want to drink today. He had to study his own problems in the afternoon and needed to keep his head clear.

But Yi Kuang's birthday banquet was really long-lasting, with various performances, and it didn't end until nearly four o'clock in the afternoon.

Li Yu hurried to the Capital University Hall while it was still dark. He had the pass given by Ding Haoliang and went directly to the library.

The Library of the Imperial University is the earliest modern university library in China. It was originally the dressing room of Princess Hejia's Mansion. It has only two floors and is far less majestic than the later Peking University Library.

The current collection of the Capital University Library is less than 80,000 volumes, while the collection of the Peking University Library in later generations is as high as 8 million volumes! If digital books are included, there are 11 million volumes!

The first batch of books in the library were moved from Tongwen Library, and books recently purchased from abroad were added. Of course, famous educational figures such as Zhang Baixi and Wu Rulun also successively donated many valuable rare books.

He had worked as a librarian in the library of the Tongwen Library, and now the layout of the library in the Capital University Hall completely followed the style of the Tongwen Library, so Li Yu quickly found Poincaré's works in the mathematics series.

He immediately took it down and read it.

Although Li Yu is not a mathematics major, physics requires very high mathematics, so his mathematics skills are not bad.

Li Yu turned to Poincaré's book on "New Methods of Mathematics". He didn't have time to read it carefully. He glanced at the catalog and turned to the part corresponding to the qualitative theory of invariant integrals and differential equations.

These things are commonly used mathematical tools in physics. After Li Yu read them, he turned to the publication date of the book: August 1888.

I understood it instantly!

As we all know, Poincaré was an outstanding mathematician. When he was studying the three-body problem, or strictly speaking, the N-body problem, his main achievement was to propose a set of subsequent mathematical methods. This was his important contribution.

The most critical among them is the qualitative theory of invariant integrals and differential equations.

They were all mathematical tools that had not yet appeared at that time, but Poincaré was a mathematical genius. Since they did not exist, he created them himself!

He abruptly created a set of mathematical methods for studying astrophysics, just like Galois created group theory to study the fifth-order equation.

The status of group theory in mathematics goes without saying, but its origin is just to solve the problem of finding the roots of quintic equations.

Of course, this does not mean that the problem of finding the roots of the quintic equation is not important. The key is that group theory is too dazzling. In other words, the problem of finding the roots of the quintic equation is the cause, and group theory is the result of it.

I don’t know why, but King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway did not issue a call for submissions on the three-body problem ten years ago, but Poincaré still created this set of mathematical tools.

I can only say that mathematics is indeed far ahead of other subjects.

After all, mathematics is mathematics. It is too pure. Mathematicians rarely use their brains for a certain practical problem because it is too simple and meaningless for them and they don’t want to waste time...

Nowadays, with the Poincaré mathematical tools, solving the three-body problem is actually relatively simple, and it has really become a relatively common mathematical problem with a reward for submissions.

It’s just that not many people understood Poincaré’s article at that time.

Li Yu's mood calmed down a little, and it seemed that it was just a small episode.

He took out the Times and looked at the reward question again:

"In a system with any number of celestial bodies, the interaction between them satisfies Newton's law. If any two celestial bodies do not collide, try to give the coordinates of each celestial body. These coordinates can be expressed as a known function of time.

As a series representation of variables, the series converges uniformly for all values.

In addition, specific time function analysis is given for the past sun-earth-moon system."

This problem is a little simpler than Poincaré's problem at that time, and in the end it involves a model analysis of the solar system we are most concerned about.

The sun-earth-moon itself is a simple three-body system.

Speaking of which, humans have been studying similar simplified three-body systems for a long time.

It all started because of the study of the moon.

It's all the moon's fault!

Two hundred years ago, the great god Newton created the law of universal gravitation, but looking at the formula, you can see that it is all about the movement between two celestial bodies.

It is not too simple to use calculus and the law of universal gravitation to solve the motion trajectories of two celestial bodies! But when Newton adds the moon, the problem instantly becomes extremely complicated.

——This is the earliest study of the three-body problem.

Newton once said: "Unless I study the moon, I have never had a headache."

It can be understood as the arrogance of the great god, but it does reflect the helplessness of the great god.

The reason why Newton studied the moon also has a background. According to Kepler's law, the motion trajectory of the planet is an ellipse, so there are perihelion and aphelion. At that time, the elliptical orbits of the major planets had been calculated.

The moon's trajectory is naturally an ellipse, and it also has perigee and apogee.

According to Newton's calculations, perigee, that is, a super moon, will appear once every 17.8 years or so.

However, this result is outrageous, because according to actual observations, two thousand years ago, people discovered that a super moon occurs once every nine years.

The error between the calculated results and the actual situation is double, which is obviously a huge deviation.

Newton was never able to solve this problem, so he had to put it aside.

However, shelving is definitely not an option, because navigation is very important for position determination.

At that time, it was easy to measure latitude at sea, just by relying on Polaris and the sun.

However, the measurement of longitude requires accurate knowledge of the time, and then calculation using the changes in the moon's trajectory, which is the so-called lunar elongation method.

So the trouble caused by the moon still needs to be solved!

After Newton, the great gods Euler and Lagrange appeared.

The master's move was unusual. The two successfully solved the restricted three-body problem. The so-called restriction means that one celestial body has a relatively small mass and has no impact on the other two big brothers.

The two masters gave five special solutions to the restricted three-body problem and solved the simplified sun, earth and moon system.

By the way, the pinnacle of the restricted three-body problem is the discovery of Neptune.
