1827Bitter battle with Bunnas

Rows of shells fell on the positions held by the soldiers of the Tang Empire. The bad breath that Lyons' troops had suppressed these days finally came out.

They had been harassed by snipers from the Tang Empire since they were dozens of kilometers away from Bunas. The opponents would often shoot and kill one person before retreating, leaving only the Lions Empire soldiers who were surrounded by grass and trees to hide in place.

.

Along the way, the soldiers of the Lions Empire became frightened and ran to the roadside as soon as they heard the sound of gunshots. The people who walked near Bunas were not in a good mental state.

Next, they launched an attack on the defensive positions of the Tang Empire. Unfortunately, their attack was quickly repelled by the Tang army: the hastily organized attack was okay for dealing with Bunas's city guards.

No matter how you look at the troops that came to deal with the Tang Empire, they are a bit underwhelming.

The defeated Lions Empire field force had no choice but to wait for the follow-up troops to arrive before launching a new attack.

This wait lasts for three days.

After waiting for their main force to arrive, the troops of the Lions Empire launched a large-scale attack. It was completely different from the previous small fights. They were well prepared this time.

The assembled heavy artillery troops fired a rain of artillery shells. The decoy position disguised as the main position was filled with flames and explosions.

The entire earth was trembling. After being suppressed for almost a year, the coalition forces finally showed off the battle they had been looking forward to.

The overwhelming bombardment had not completely stopped before the soldiers of the Lines Empire rushed towards the Tang Army's defensive positions under the cover of tanks.

The coalition forces also had infantry and tank coordination, but they were completely unable to achieve the coordination they wanted under the Tang Army's electromagnetic interference and vitality blow.

Now that the Tang army has lost its advantage, they can finally fight a war they are familiar with in a familiar way.

"Attack! For His Majesty the Emperor!" On the battlefield, an officer from the Lions Empire waved his pistol and shouted loudly at the soldiers who were advancing.

After hearing the encouragement, the soldiers held their rifles with bayonets inserted, followed the tanks, and approached the Tang army's position step by step.

At this moment, the Tang Army's position was still silent, as if the Tang Army here had suffered all casualties from the shelling just now.

But as time went by, as the soldiers of the Lions Empire gradually approached, suddenly the entire Tang Army's position seemed to come alive.

Rifle grenades and mortars fell one after another, and the advancing Lions Empire troops immediately suffered an unprecedented blow. Explosions occurred one after another, and screams and wails echoed on the battlefield.

The attack that was finally organized failed because the Tang army's counterattack failed. After leaving behind hundreds of corpses, the soldiers of the Lions Empire retreated.

They really didn't expect to encounter such a fierce enemy in Bunas: when they occupied Jade City, the defenders of Jade City on the opposite side were defeated at the first touch.

At that time, they only needed to fire a few random shots and rush over with tanks, and the enemy's defense line would be over. Countless soldiers began to flee backwards, and the prisoners were captured as soon as they were captured.

But now, not only did they not see the defeated enemy, they also failed to capture a single prisoner. There were many deadly weapons hidden in those seemingly deserted trenches.

The smoke dissipated, revealing a devastated battlefield. The soldiers of the Lions Empire retreated in embarrassment, leaving corpses and weapons everywhere.

They originally thought that capturing Bunas would be as easy as capturing Jade City, but they did not expect to encounter such tenacious resistance.

"Sir, the enemy's firepower is too fierce, and we have suffered heavy losses!" An officer covered in blood returned to the commander supervising the battle in embarrassment, his tone full of exhaustion and fear.

The Lions Empire officer who was commanding the attack raised his telescope and looked at the smoky highlands in the distance with an expressionless face. His eyes were as cold as ice for thousands of years: "I saw it! I saw it all! Continue the bombardment!"

No matter what the cost, we must capture this high ground before noon today!"

He came with an order, and he had to seize the positions outside Bunas as soon as possible. Originally, he thought he would not encounter any trouble, but now it seems that there are really too many troubles.

It was obvious that the people he was fighting against were not the city guards of Bunas, but the real soldiers of the Tang Empire: the opponent's weapons were of various types, many of which he had never seen before.

Take anti-tank missiles, for example. He had seen the power of those things with his own eyes: no matter where the missile was launched, it could accurately fly to the tank and easily penetrate the best tank in the Bunas Empire.

"Heavy losses? What do you call heavy losses when only a hundred people died? Send the order, organize a new attack immediately, and send another battalion up!" He gave the order coldly, because if he cared about the lives and deaths of his men, then he

He is going to die by himself: "Supervise the troops to press forward! Anyone who is timid and timid will be killed without mercy! Anyone who escapes from the battle will be killed without mercy! If he hesitates, he will be killed without mercy!"

"Yes!" the officer under his command bowed his head and responded. He knew that if he did not follow the orders of his superiors, his life would be over.

Another round of intensive artillery fire attack, countless artillery shells exploded on the battlefield, the Tang army's position was ignited with raging fire, and black smoke covered half of the sky.

The Lions Empire also made up its mind and dispatched various aircraft to attack the Tang Army's positions crazily. In addition to B-17 strategic bombers, the Lions Empire also dispatched a large number of tactical attack aircraft to bomb the Tang Army.

defensive position.

Most of these aircraft were retired fighter jets that were modified and became ground attack weapons of the Lions Imperial Air Force. In line with the mentality of recycling waste, these aircraft began to perform Stuka-like attacks after being equipped with bombs.

Task.

This chapter is not over yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content! It’s just that these aircraft are not professional ground attack aircraft. In most cases, they can only carry one bomb. After dropping it, they can only use the aircraft.

The artillery came to straf the ground.

Although they are not very easy to use, there are simply too many of these planes... Dozens of planes hovering in the sky really make the Tang Army's ground troops very uncomfortable.

The battle continued until noon, and the Tang army's position still showed no signs of collapse. Instead, the attacking Lines Empire troops had almost killed 700 soldiers. This small highland between Bunas and Jade City,

Still as strong as a fortress.

What made the soldiers of the Lions Empire even more desperate was that the Tang Army seemed to be getting stronger and stronger: during the last attack, they encountered an armored vehicle of the Tang Army. The thing had a tank-like head, but the chassis was a

An eight-wheeled armored vehicle.

Of course they didn't know that this was a wheeled assault gun of the Tang Army, nor did they know that this thing was actually equipment of the Tang Army's armored reconnaissance unit, and was only temporarily brought over to serve as anti-tank firepower.

These shocked Lions Empire soldiers only knew that this thing could run very fast on the battlefield, and could hide behind many obstacles to sneak attack the attacking tanks of the Lions Empire.

The 105 mm caliber tank gun is very powerful in armor penetration and can easily penetrate the main tanks of the Lions Empire at a distance of 1,000 meters. What’s even more terrible is that the fire control system of this wheeled assault gun is advanced enough to support it at 1,000 meters.

Fire from a distance away...

After losing more than a dozen tanks, the troops of the Lines Empire finally suspended their attack. They also knew that they could not afford the losses and needed to wait for subsequent reinforcements.

"Damn, why are these Tang dogs so fierce in firepower? I saw with my own eyes that a tank was almost blown to pieces!" In the military camp of the Lions Empire, a soldier cursed and complained.

"Stop talking nonsense, if you losers weren't as slow as a tortoise when charging and faster than a rabbit when escaping, we would have captured Bunas long ago!" Another soldier retorted dissatisfied.

"Shut up!" An officer came over, glared at them fiercely, and scolded: "If you don't want to die, just recharge your batteries. In the afternoon, we will attack again!"

"Ah?" When they heard the news that they would attack in the afternoon, all the soldiers were dumbfounded. It was one thing for them to be stubborn, but it was another thing for them to go up and compete with the Tang army again.

In the chaotic afternoon, the Lines Empire still did not muster up the courage to launch a new attack. They waited for their follow-up reinforcements and sent more aircraft to participate in the air attack.

But this time they ran into trouble. The air force aircraft formation that went to bomb Bunas Airport was intercepted by the Tang Army's anti-aircraft missiles and anti-aircraft guns, causing heavy losses.

None of the 20 planes sent out returned: it could be clearly heard from their communications that they were attacked by ghosts and intercepted by anti-aircraft guns...

Obviously, the Tang Empire's anti-aircraft missiles did work, shooting down a large number of Lions Empire aircraft. The self-propelled anti-aircraft guns deployed at the airport also killed everyone with the support of fire control radars.

The Tang Army, which ensured the safety of the airport, received more supplies and support that afternoon. A regiment of infantry arrived in Bunas, and at the same time they also brought a large amount of weapons, equipment, and ammunition supplies.

On the Lions Empire side, a large number of troops rushed to the battlefield. The Lions Empire troops attacking Bunas exceeded 50,000 people, and there may be more in the future.

That night, the Tang Army organized a limited counterattack. Special forces carrying night vision goggles entered the camp of the Lions Empire troops, set a fire, burned a large amount of munitions and oil, and killed hundreds of unlucky people.

.

The Lions Empire army did not sleep well at all that night. They were afraid that they would be killed in their dreams, and they were also afraid that someone would attack and destroy their remaining supplies and ammunition. The endless night seemed to be a torment for them.

Early the next morning, as soon as it dawned, the Lions Empire army, which had endured all night, launched a new round of attack. This time, they learned from the previous lessons and adopted more cunning tactics.

They first bombarded the Tang Army's positions with intensive artillery fire, then sent small groups of troops to feint to attack, trying to attract the Tang Army's attention, and finally concentrated their superior forces to launch a fierce attack on the Tang Army's weak links.

Faced with such tactics, the Tang Army was indeed somewhat passive. There was no way around it. Their military strength was already at a disadvantage. They had to deal with more directions and were really stretched.

But the troops of the Lions Empire obviously underestimated the firepower of the Tang Army, and their feint attacks only hit the small defensive positions set up by the Tang Army in front of the main position.

In fact, the Tang Army's defensive positions were not traditional continuous trenches, but small defensive nodes.

These nodes cover each other and can be abandoned immediately when necessary. A large number of anti-cannonball bunkers were set up, which also promoted the powerful firepower of the Tang Army.

Under the cover of grenades and mortars, these defense nodes can often easily resist the first wave of attacks by the Lions Empire troops. Later, the mobile troops of the Tang Army will arrive and eliminate them with wheeled assault guns or anti-tank missiles.

The main equipment of the attacking enemy.

This delaying tactic was very effective. The Lyons Empire troops, which lacked battlefield control and reconnaissance, had no good way to deal with the Tang Army armored vehicles transporting ammunition in the middle of the battlefield.

Who makes their aircraft have little attack accuracy and cannot really control the air superiority on the battlefield? As the battle unfolded on the second day, planes of the Bunas Air Force also appeared on the battlefield.

These planes surrendered together with Bunas. They did not dare to go into battle before. Now that they had the support of the Tang Army, they became more courageous and naturally went into action.

It is certainly unrealistic to expect the propeller planes equipped by Bunas to do much, but they can interfere with the Lines Imperial Air Force and prevent the opponent from continuously bombing the Tang Army on the ground.

The two sides fought fiercely for another day, but the outcome was still indecisive. The Lions Empire increased its troops and also raised the alert level of the night troops.

On the Tang Army's side, another infantry regiment was transported to the front line within a whole day. At the same time, the plane also took away the remains of more than 400 Tang Army soldiers. The overall disadvantage caused the Tang Army to have a relatively large impact here.

of losses.

The good news is that after two days of hard fighting, the Tang Army has made more and more preparations, and the battlefield situation has gradually improved: Xiang Ziyu's paratroopers have been ordered to assemble and will soon be deployed to the Bunas front line

.

If these paratroopers join the battle, the Tang Army will be immediately strengthened, and the difficulty of the Lions Empire's attack will be doubled.

On the other hand, the 1st Marine Division of the Tang Empire has also been mobilized and is gathering in San Luo: once they board the ship, they can arrive in Bunas within a few days to join the battle.

Unlike the previous Tang Army, this is a heavily armed force. As long as they arrive, the Tang Army will have a large number of tanks and armored vehicles, as well as a more complete air defense system...
