655 Buns and Wizards

In the southern suburbs of Beiyuan City, in the defensive position of the Tang Army, a child was filling his mouth with water from a bottle.

He drank it happily, then grabbed the bun in front of him and stuffed it into his mouth. For him, this was probably the most delicious thing in the world.

After swallowing two buns, he grabbed the third one and was held down by a big hand. A squad leader carrying a Thomson submachine gun stopped the boy's movement and said: "Come back after you've finished your work."

eat."

"I'm afraid I won't be able to come back." The boy was very honest and said what he was thinking, with a trace of prayer in his eyes.

"You have been hungry for so long and you can't eat enough! You can only eat so much! Otherwise you will be starved to death in a while." Another veteran reminded the boy with a cigarette in his mouth.

The boy shook his head and looked very mature: "I would rather be stretched to death now than continue to be hungry. You have never been hungry, what a feeling..."

Before he could finish his sentence, he was hit on the head by the veteran holding a cigarette: "Why the hell do you think I've only had enough to eat for a few days and you're saying I've never been hungry? Listen to me, don't eat yet.

!You can take it, but you can’t continue to eat it.”

"Take as much as you want?" When the boy heard what the veteran said, he didn't care that he had just been hit on the head and asked excitedly.

"Yes, you can take it, but you must not continue to eat it." Looking at the medic in the platoon who was about thirty-five years old and holding a cigarette, the squad leader nodded in agreement.

After hearing this, the boy immediately stuffed the buns into his pocket, regardless of whether it was dirty or not, he just stuffed them, one after another, as if his pocket was Doraemon's treasure bag.

Almost every child in Beiyuan City has a pocket sewn out of rags like this on their chest, making it easier for them to rummage through the ruins for some food.

Soon, the boy filled up the only pocket on his chest. He took almost seven or eight buns, and his belly was bulging, which looked quite funny.

In fact, his limbs are very thin, and his long-term malnutrition makes him look a little weird. Compared to a human, he now looks more like a goblin who has not had enough to eat for a long time.

"Let's go!" Seeing that the guide he had found was finally full and had taken enough, the squad leader gave the order to set off: "Lead the way and avoid those mirage people."

"Okay!" The boy nodded, and then walked forward. He walked very fast, as if the soles of his feet were not afraid of stones in the soil or sharp shrapnel.

"Damn it, you're just as poor as I was back then!" Following the boy, a soldier muttered with disdain. From the boy's back, he saw his former self.

Everyone came here like this back then. Before they became Tang people, they didn't even have a pair of shoes their whole life.

When Tang Jun came over, they had a full meal in the true sense, and then they all found that they no longer had to worry about food.

So when the Tang Army recruited soldiers and asked them to defend this country that had only been established for more than three years, they took up arms without hesitation and became a Tang Army soldier!

No joke, he now has shoes, pants, a tactical vest and a raincoat, and he feels more and more like a human being.

"Stop talking, everyone is the same." The squad leader carrying a Thompson submachine gun walked behind him, also thinking of his childhood.

At that time, everyone was poor, and the poor were all like bears, so everyone thought that life was like this. But now they all know that there is another way of living in this world, and there is something called dignity.

Stepping on pieces of broken bricks, these soldiers of the Tang Army reached the wall of Beiyuan City without anyone noticing.

A large part of this place has been destroyed by artillery shells. It seems that the two sides have been cleaned and renovated, but later the work was suspended for unknown reasons.

What is horrific is that there is a large pile of corpses piled outside the city wall, all belonging to civilians in the city. The bottom ones are mostly rotten, and the corpses above are even very fresh.

The little boy stopped where he was about to be exposed, then turned around and made a silencing gesture.

Soon, he stuck his head out and made a strange gesture over there. Then from the corner over there, a palm stretched out and made a gesture to come here quickly.

"Follow me! Three people at a time! They will be back soon!" The little boy turned around, said in a low voice, and then ran forward holding his chest pocket.

The squad leader and two soldiers followed quickly, and the four of them ran to the opposite side together and hid behind the wall, panting heavily.

"Look up there!" The little boy pointed to the top of the wall and signaled the squad leader to look at the situation on the wall. The squad leader poked his head out and soon saw several Mirage soldiers patrolling to the edge of the broken city wall and looked down.

Just looked at it and left.

"Why don't they set up a defense line below?" The squad leader asked worriedly as he didn't quite understand the arrangement of the Mirage people.

"Because it's not safe! You often bombard the city wall, so they don't dare to move on or near the city wall." The boy replied with experience.

Seeing several Mirage patrols on the city wall walking away, the squad leader stretched out his palm and made a sign with the word "5".

The next second, the deputy shooter carrying the machine gun ammunition took the lead, and the shooter carrying the 42 machine gun followed, leaving the other three soldiers alone and rushed over together.

In this way, a platoon of more than 40 people quickly infiltrated into the city wall. They had their own tasks, so they dispersed most of them after a simple arrangement.

The remaining people were responsible for setting up a line of defense to cover the machine gun positions on both wings before the general attack began. The squad leader followed the little boy and his friends and walked along the ruins, as if they were climbing over mountains and ridges along the way.

This chapter is not finished yet, please click on the next page to continue reading the exciting content! This is near the city wall. The buildings were collapsed by the explosion of shelling the city wall. Some shells may deviate from the target and land due to the influence of wind direction and so on.

It is not impossible to be near these civilian buildings.

Moreover, it seems that in order to prevent the tanks and assault guns of the Tang Army from rushing into the city, the Mirage Army also deliberately destroyed these buildings, allowing the ruins to act as anti-tank obstacles.

In fact, in urban street fighting, the attacker is not very willing to destroy buildings. The main reason is that the ruins of buildings will block the streets, making it impossible for heavy weapons to cover the advance of infantry.

Therefore, there are not many scenes of tanks or heavy artillery blasting buildings, and the actual combat effect is average. It is just enjoyable to watch.

Unless the attacker encounters a fortress transformed from a particularly strong building and cannot be breached for a long time, he will use heavy weapons to destroy the building in order to drive away the defenders inside.

On the other hand, the defenders are more willing to blast buildings when retreating to prevent the enemy from continuing to advance.

Stepping on these wooden frames and collapsed walls, squad leader Tang Jun, who was not far behind the little boy, saw the little boy take out a bun with a black handprint from his pocket and handed it to the gap in the city wall.

Waiting for his companions.

They were two thin little girls, not very tall, and their legs were so thin that their kneecaps looked bloated.

Following the three little boys, they soon came to a dilapidated courtyard. When the group arrived, they got in through the gap on the other side of the ruins. After entering, they discovered that this was a very hidden place.

There seem to be ruins and rubble all around. If you don't search carefully, you can easily overlook such a relatively complete courtyard.

There were a few adults in the yard, and most of them were children. It seemed that most of them had lost their relatives.

Because it is impossible to hide too many people here, many people probably just sent their children here and left reluctantly.

The boy gave his bun to his mother, and then the unkempt woman cried silently while holding the bun that looked so dirty.

"Can you take these people away? Go back the way you came, back to our position." The squad leader couldn't bear to ask the boy leading the way: "This place will soon become a battlefield, and you will be very unsafe."

"

"Sir, they have been looking for us and killing us... We have never been safe." The boy broke open a bun and handed it to two children who were at least three years younger than him, holding back tears and said.

This place was hell for them. If they hadn't found such a way out of the city after observing for several days, they would not have encountered these Tang soldiers in front of them.

"Take them out of here! Believe me, as long as you return to our position, you will be really safe." The squad leader looked at the old, weak, sick and disabled in this yard, and said again.

"This is our home, I'm not going anywhere!" The boy replied stubbornly: "I promised my father that I would stay here and wait for him to come back..." The boy still shook his head stubbornly.

The monitor stretched out his hand and rubbed the boy's hair covered with flea sticks, without saying anything.

"Place your position over there! Cover this courtyard." He pointed to the half-collapsed two-story building in the distance and said to the machine gunner: "This is a good place. It's a good place to kill the enemy!"

The soldiers went to find their own positions one after another according to the design. The machine guns were placed at high places, and the snipers went to find hidden positions. In the end, only one squad leader was left, squatting on the ground, smoking a cigarette, and pointing at a group of soldiers.

The people in the yard looked at him in a daze.

He knew that this place would soon turn into a battlefield. If the Mirage army did not want to lose the nearby neighborhoods so quickly, they would have to launch a counterattack. Then, they would find that the Tang army had penetrated in, and a hard battle would follow.
