Chapter 13: An Island That Is Wilder Than a Desert

What is Reiki?

Based on the research of the first life, Xu Guangling can probably establish such a framework or definition for Reiki:

The light emitted by stars contains something that is more "basic" than elementary particles. It is not certain whether it is matter, energy, or a mixture of the two. It cannot be captured by any instrument on Earth at that time.

When this kind of thing falls on the earth's surface or deep inside, the first metamorphosis (property change) occurs.

It is speculated that it interacts with the earth's magnetic field or other factors.

This first metamorphosis was named "vital energy" by Xu Guangling. Its function is to nourish and nourish the body, strengthen the foundation and cultivate the vitality.

When the first metamorphosis interacts with vegetation, the second metamorphosis is derived, which Xu Guangling calls "spiritual energy". Its function is to promote biochemical growth and promote the rapid growth of life.

In this life, after being born, Xu Guangling did not feel "spiritual energy" for the first time.

Later, the surrounding situation gave him the answer. On this large island, which the island's natives called Luansha Island, Xu Guangling's gaze did not see any green.

Xu Guangling didn't find any big or small trees, not even a single blade of grass!

This is very abnormal!

You know, if you dig a big pit anywhere inland, as long as there is water in the big pit, after a period of time, which can be a few days, a few months, or a few years, there will be quite a lot of water in the big pit.

There is a probability that there will be fish.

Where do fish come from?

Comes from fish eggs.

Where do fish eggs come from?

When it rains from the sky, this is the first way.

Carrying it by flying birds is the second way.

The blowing wind threatens to blow, this is the third way.

I'm not sure if there are other ways, but even these three ways are enough for life to actively reproduce without human interference.

This is what a large depression in the land looks like.

The same is true for islands that protrude from the ocean, even if the island was originally a desert.

But now on this island, there is not a single plant or tree!

Is the environment on the island so bad that it does not allow any kind of vegetation to grow? Obviously not. Compared with the survival of vegetation, human beings are not even younger brothers.

Even humans can be alive and kicking here, but they can't see even a blade of grass. This is obviously extremely abnormal.

It is unlikely to be human interference.

If so, there must be the intervention of great supernatural powers.

Because even if ordinary people "exterminate" grass and trees, it would be difficult for them to exterminate them to this extent, and there is no reason to do so.

There is no aura derived from vegetation, so it is not surprising that Xu Guangling did not feel aura.

But it’s actually strange.

Because as long as there is spiritual energy on this planet, it will dissipate and spread to the surrounding areas, making the entire surface of the planet filled with spiritual energy.

So, this entire planet has no aura?

Unlikely.

There are only humans without vegetation, which obviously violates ecological logic, just like there are no 0 and 1, but 2 exists out of thin air.

The biggest possibility is that this sea area is special.

Xu Guangling immediately wondered if there was something like a jelly layer wrapped around the sea area, isolating it from the rest of the world.

This is a possibility, but obviously cannot be determined at the moment.

Currently, his footprints cannot even cover the entire big island!

It's not how big the island is, of course he doesn't know exactly how big it is, but the biggest reason is his age and body. His younger age and ordinary body don't allow him to wander around.

In this life, it is no longer about pretending to be a pig and eating the tiger.

He is a pig.

Having lost his immortal nature, his body in this life is a completely ordinary person.

There is no spiritual energy around, so is there vitality?

It stands to reason that as long as the sun is shining, there should be vitality, unless the sun is special, or the current planet (not sure if it is a planet, let's assume it is so).

After coming into the world, for about a year or two, the thing Xu Guangling did most was to look up at the sky.

Look at the sun during the day.

Watch the stars at night.

The sun in this life was larger than the previous two, but the color was about the same. Xu Guangling didn't notice any difference.

There are more stars in this life than in the previous two lives, much more. At night, when the weather is fine and there are no clouds to cover it, the sky becomes a garden of stars, which is really beautiful.

But under this beauty, Xu Guangling's body was bathed in starlight, but he barely felt any vitality!

almost!

There is still some vitality, but it is pitifully little!

And this situation corresponds to the fact that the residents on the island have very short life spans. Sixty is the life expectancy, and almost no one can live to be seventy years old.

Even, very few live to be sixty.

Normally, people die between fifty and fifty-five, and it is not uncommon to die in their forties.

Basically, after the age of more than 20, people begin to show signs of aging.

In this life, Xu Guangling was born without grandparents. Even after opening his eyes, if he were not familiar with the mother's body, he would regard his father and mother in this life as his grandparents!

Because they look so old.

Later, when Xu Guangling learned that they were not even thirty, he was shocked!

His family is not like this, everyone around him is like this!

After he was three years old, Xu Guangling was sent to "Haishamen" to learn swimming.

There were kids like him around, three or four years old, both men and women.

Before the lesson started, the teacher whipped each child and hit him hard, and Xu Guangling couldn't escape either.

Some children immediately grinned and started crying, and then these children were whipped a second time and a third time.

Afterwards, the venue where dozens of children gathered fell silent.

The whipping instruction almost covered the entire learning process. Even if Xu Guangling learned to swim on the first day, he would still be whipped because the perverted instructor would whip all the children at the beginning of every day, regardless of whether they learned it or not.

They have to stay in this Haishamen for a month.

By the way, a month here has 22 days, and there is no concept of "week, week, week" or the like. It is similar to the ancient Chinese "ten days", which divides a month into two halves.

The first half is ten days, the second half is ten days, and the day after ten days is probably a rest day.

However, rest days have no practical manifestation on this island.

At least for children like Xu Guangling, it is the same as other times.

Xu Guangling grew up under such circumstances, and he gradually got used to life on the island.

At night, he and his parents slept in a room. There was no bed. It was a flat plate made of "light stone" from the island. It was barely a bed. Of course, there were no bed legs or anything like that. It was just a solid bed.

On the ground.

This thing that looks like stone or wood is very light. When it is dried and contains no water, it is lighter than the paulownia wood in the first life of the earth, but it is quite strong and will not break easily.

Half of the room is underground.

This is because during the day, when the sun is shining high, the surface temperature is extremely high, at least 40 or 50 degrees Celsius, or even above 50 degrees Celsius on some days.

At that time, the only way to avoid being burned was to live underground.

Even so, it was very hot in the room.

Fortunately, the temperature did not drop rapidly to below zero or even dozens of degrees below zero at night.

But even so, this ghost place is definitely not suitable for survival. Xu Guangling finally understood why people here generally have short lifespans. Even being able to live to the age of sixty is simply considered a "miracle".

But miracles are not surprising.

There is a reason.

When Xu Guangling grew older, when he was more than four years old, he understood that the very few island residents who could live to be over sixty years old were all great people.

He also knew that under normal circumstances.

The normal life span of residents on this island is actually only forty years!

All those "longevity" people who live into their fifties and sixties are all because of taking something.

It is also a specialty of the sea.
