On the way the next day, Xu Guangling saw this family.
It was a provincial road heading north, and a tractor was walking slowly on the road. Black smoke from burning diesel fuel popped out of the chimney, and water vapor evaporated by the engine also popped out from the water tank.
This is a very common phenomenon in many rural and remote places, but the two ladies in the team, Zhao Yu and Zheng Qin, have obviously never seen this.
Because they were like curious babies, staring at the tractor.
Xu Guangling unexpectedly remembered a sentence, "Uncle, your go-kart is so big!"
That was the song "Love Apartment" played by my classmates in the dormitory when I was in college. In it, the eldest lady Lin Wanyu said something when she saw the tractor.
But the tractor in front of me is not as handsome as the one in the movie, far from it. Of course, their shapes and models are also different. Not to mention its shabby appearance and the tractor bucket full of potholes and rust.
Now, just by listening to the sound of the engine, you can tell that this tractor is already extremely old.
It looked like it was going to turn off at any moment.
This sound makes people feel worried unconsciously.
But soon, the perspective changed, and the two ladies looked away from the tractor. They were attracted by the scene in front of the tractor.
Two people, an old man in his sixties and a young man in his thirties, were doing the same movements in different rhythms.
Their hands are all wearing something like clogs, or simple slippers with wooden soles. Well, they are not worn on their feet, but on their hands. Because they are walking with their feet and hands.
.
First, walk a few steps normally, and then lean forward with your whole body, using your hands as support.
The "shoes" on their hands protect them from harm to their hands, preventing them from getting damaged and bloody after being hit three or two times.
But with this way of walking, although their hands will not be injured, the entire body will inevitably be damaged in the process of frequently standing up and falling to the ground in a five-body posture.
"Master, what are they doing?" Zhao Yu asked curiously.
"They are making a pilgrimage to the mountains, which is also called pilgrimage." Mr. Zhang said, "In this way of worshiping, they go towards their holy mountain or a certain temple."
"Did it go like this all the way?" Like Zhao Yu, Zheng Qin was inexplicably surprised.
"Yes."
"How far will they go?" Zhao Yu asked.
"This is not necessarily true. Some are very close, some are a few miles away. Some are a little further away, some are tens of miles away. Some are even further away, some are hundreds of miles away. Some are even further away, some are thousands of miles away.
Mr. Zhang said.
"How many miles, dozens of miles, hundreds of miles, how many...thousands of miles?"
The beautiful eyes of the two ladies widened at the same time. It is estimated that even if aliens appeared in front of them, they might not be so shocked.
How many thousands of miles have you walked this way?
Unimaginable.
Totally unimaginable!
Don’t talk about this kind of prostrations, just walk well. How many people can say they have walked thousands of miles?
I still remember that when I was in college, Zhao Yu once joined a university cycling club for a short time. At that time, riding a hundred miles was celebrated by all the members and considered to be a very remarkable thing.
.
After the ride, they took photos and had dinner together. Zhao Yu still keeps those photos and will often take them out to look at every one or two years.
In a sense, it is a "medal" from the past.
Although, compared with the various awards she has received at home and abroad in recent years, it is not worth mentioning.
"In Tibetan areas and other places, some people will perform such a pilgrimage when they get old. This is a belief and a ritual, and it is the return of their spiritual leaves to their roots." Mr. Zhang said lightly, "Among these people,
There are poor people, there are rich people, there are people of all statuses.”
"But when worshiping, there is no distinction in status. They are all called worshipers."
"In the opinion of many people, wealth and poverty are things that need to pass away. Only worship is the biggest thing in their lives and their career. After worship, no matter how long they live, they can live without worries.
I went there with concern, but without experiencing such a pilgrimage, life would be incomplete."
A lifelong career.
In the silence between the two women, Xu Guangling suddenly thought of a poem by Su Dongpo from Mr. Zhang's words.
"The heart is like a gray tree, and the body is like a boat without ties. I ask you about your life achievements, Huangzhou, Huizhou, and Danzhou."
The name of this poem is "Self-Inscribed Portrait of Jinshan". It was inscribed by Su Dongpo when he visited Longyou Temple in Jinshan. It is similar to "Inscribed on the West Forest Wall" and so on.
Different from the previous poems, this is the last poem in Su Dongpo's life, and therefore has special significance.
Two months after Jinshan, Su Dongpo passed away, and his life was fixed in historical facts and in this poem.
Su Dongpo, courtesy name Zizhan and nickname Dongpo, was a writer, calligrapher, and painter in the Northern Song Dynasty. He served successively as governor of the state, bachelor of the Hanlin Academy, and minister of the Ministry of Rites. He was given the posthumous title of "Wenzhong". This is his historical conclusion.
People in later generations know Su Dongpo firstly from his poems and prose, such as "Shui Diao Ge Tou" and "The Great River Goes East", and secondly from Dongpo Pork and Dongpo Knuckles.
Yes, Su Dongpo was not only a writer, calligrapher, and painter, he was also a gourmet.
Those who are half-toned, those who open their doors by themselves, those who have no "school of masters", those who cannot stand on the stage... gourmets.
For this reason, formal historical facts are dismissed with disdain.
But the funny thing is that many people in later generations knew that there was a person like Su Dongpo through Dongpo Rou.
Is this a tragedy or a comedy?
None.
At the end of his life, Su Dongpo's understanding of himself was not about poetry, calligraphy, painting, food, and of course, politics, but, "Ask you about your life achievements, Huangzhou, Huizhou, and Danzhou."
In Huangzhou, Su Dongpo experienced a great change in his life for the first time. He changed from a disciple of the emperor and a big boss to a man waiting to die, a criminal, and a person under supervision after being released from prison.
Huizhou was demoted again after Su Dongpo's rise.
Danzhou was the last time Su Dongpo was demoted, a severe demotion that led to "hell".
I ask you about your life achievements, Huangzhou, Huizhou and Danzhou.
Is this a wry smile and self-deprecation?
Some people think so.
But if you look at it from another angle, "Su Dongpo" in the true sense was actually accomplished in Huangzhou, Huizhou, and Danzhou. Beyond time and space, this is his true "life career."
His exile in these three places was all his own fault.
It is this "self" that makes him become him and makes him who he is.
