Chapter 404 The Sword Hidden in the Sutra

There is a huge sun in the sky, but there is snow on the ground. It is like countless colorful ice crystals floating in the sky, rippling leisurely and strangely.

With a "wow" sound, the imperial guard opened the umbrella cover and covered the emperor's head, protecting him as he boarded the chariot. Yu Wenfu of the Central Guards (the commander of the imperial guard on duty) shouted a few times, and the warriors and imperial guards quickly opened the guard of honor.
Yu Wenfu was originally appointed as General Pingdong and helped Li Chong defend the Huaihe River for many years. He was quite famous as a general. However, he was already fifty-four years old. After years of fighting, he had been injured many times and his health was deteriorating. He asked for orders many times to return to the army.

Beijing, but the emperor has always been unsure. This time, he borrowed Li Chengzhi's help and switched with Yuan Ji, who was originally the Zuowei general.

In addition to taking over as Yuan Ji's left guard general, Yu Wenfu also served as the imperial servant. Li Chengzhi accidentally rescued Gao Wenjun and Wei Yu in Hexi, and also dealt with his youngest son when the formation was about to kill Rong Ding.<

/p>

Yuwen Yuanqing was then the captain of Dian Mu in Hexi Racecourse. After robbing Hu merchants, he gave several carts of gifts to Li Chengzhi in order to seal his reputation...

They have been friends for a long time, and Yu Wenfu has a kind and honest personality, so Li Chengzhi gets along quite well with him.

In addition to Yu Wenfu, he was also accompanied by General Su Zhi (who was on duty), Yuan Xi, the son of Wang Yuanying of Zhongshan. It seems that Yuan Xi also borrowed Li Chengzhi's help to succeed Hou Gang as General Wuwei.

There are strong men in front holding umbrellas and staffs to clear the way. Yu Wenfu and Yuan Xi each ride a big horse, one on the left and one on the right, waiting on both sides of the imperial chariot.

The chariot was driven by Feng Chenglang. Although he was just a driver, his official rank was the fifth rank from the right, which was one rank higher than Li Chengzhi.

Liu Teng sat at the back of the car.

Seeing that Li Chengzhi did not get on the bus, the emperor opened the back curtain and asked with dissatisfaction: "Why do you have to suffer from the wind and cold when you can ride in a warm chariot? Why don't you get in the car and ride with me?"

"Thank you, Your Majesty... I am a servant of the martial arts. It is my duty to serve as a knight. I dare not exceed it..."

Li Chengzhi returned to the middle distance, but he kept muttering in his heart: Forget it quickly!

A lot of money was spread out, and he made a lot of friends with the powerful. However, rumors among the government and the public that he was "comparable to the likes of Zhao Ming and Ru Hao" were still rampant, and from time to time, censors would comment on his "transgressing the etiquette".

.

If you have to ride in the same carriage with the emperor again, you still have to be sprayed to death?

Seeing that Li Chengzhi had concerns, the emperor did not force him, but just sneered: "Then it's up to you, just keep it cold...".

It took only half an hour to walk two miles. Someone had already passed by the Yellow Gate. When we arrived at Qingquan Palace, there was a crowd of people standing outside the gate.

There are only seven or eight monks and Taoists, but there are more than ten noble ladies. In addition, there are many internal servants to serve Hu Chonghua, and the servants brought by the wives of various orders, there are forty or fifty people.

No wonder the emperor has staged such a big battle without leaving the palace?

Seeing the emperor getting out of the chariot, everyone was blessed and shouted "Blessed Holy Body"!

"No formalities, come into the palace!"

Yuan Ke waved his hand gently, and the palace people, attendants and other people dispersed on their own. A group of ladies surrounded the emperor and entered Qingquan Palace.

Li Chengzhi scanned it carefully and found that he recognized quite a few.

The leader is the late emperor’s younger sister, Yuan Ke’s aunt Princess Chen Liu.

There is a rumor that she was once Gao Zhao's mistress, but I don't know whether it is true or not. But what is interesting is that the year after the death of Princess Chen Liu's second wife, she was married to Pingluhou Zhang Yi by Yuan Ke. But the wedding took place not long ago.

, Zhang Yi was framed by Gao Zhao and has been suspended from office ever since...

Under them are Yuan Yi's concubine Luo, Yuanyue's concubine Lu, Yuan Ji's concubine Lu, Yuanyuan's concubine Wang and other noble ladies of the clan.

The rest are Yuan Ke’s concubines: the first noble concubine Sima Xianzhi (below the queen, one of the three ladies, similar to the noble concubines in the Ming and Qing Dynasties), Guihua Wang Puxian (below the first noble concubine,

The third lady ranked second), Jieyu Li (the first of the nine concubines), etc.

These three were all descendants of the Southern Dynasties. There were seven or eight Han women like this in Yuan Ke's harem, but there were only two Xianbei concubines.

Since Emperor Taiwu, the harems, princes, princes, wives and concubines of several generations of emperors, etc., all have roughly the same proportion, which shows the determination of Emperor Yuan to Chineseize.

Probably because she was afraid of catching the wind and cold, Mrs. Hu did not leave the palace to greet her. After entering the palace, she saw him being held by two palace maids, looking very fragile.

Before Hu could bend down to give the gift, Yuan Ke waved his hand casually: "No need to do that!"

Mrs. Hu thanked His Majesty, and then looked back. When she saw Li Chengzhi standing behind the emperor, a look of anger suddenly appeared on her face.

Li Chengzhi raised his chin slightly and raised the corners of his mouth, half-smiling but not smiling, as if he was saying: Come and bite me?

Hu's face turned blue with anger, but there was nothing she could do to him.

Yuan Ke noticed something was wrong, but when he turned around, Li Chengzhi had already changed into a serious look.

See, that's it. Hu Chonghua couldn't even complain to the emperor: Could it be that she told the emperor that Li Chengzhi was smiling at her?

As long as the two had a grudge, Hu would naturally not like Li Chengzhi, and the emperor didn't care: "Don't you want to lecture on scriptures? Let's start!"

After saying that, he sat on the main couch. Hu Chonghua originally wanted to accompany him, but he didn't want the emperor to point at Sima to show off his appearance.

Hu Chonghua was shaking all over.

Li Chengzhi laughed secretly: No wonder after Yuan Ke died, the Hu family, who was the biological mother of the new emperor and had the power to rule the court, was ignored by Liu Teng and Yuan Yi and imprisoned for five or six years?

There is no one else who can't look like this: Why don't you think about it, your title is just for glory, you are at the end of the nine concubines, your status is lower than that of the Li family, no one's turn will be yours.

Now that I think about it, today's battle is so huge because Hu Shi invited so many ladies into the palace under the guise of pretending to be the emperor.

The original intention was to show how much the emperor favored him, but why did he want to shoot himself in the foot?

Missing Princess Chen Liu, Yuan Yi, Yuan Yue, and Yuan Yuan's concubines showed their deep thoughts and kept looking at Li Chengzhi: How could he be Gao Zhao's niece-in-law and the queen's cousin-in-law...

Yu Wenfu was old, so the emperor showed sympathy and gave him a seat. Yuan Xi and Li Chengzhi, one on the left and one on the right, stood behind the emperor like two door gods.

Just like a banquet, the rest of the people were seated on both sides, with the monk giving the lecture in the middle.

Today's lecture is by Luojie, the eminent monk of Baima Temple. The great ancestor is Kumarajiva, an eminent monk of Qiuchi who is regarded as one of the eight ancestors of Buddhism. Luojie only became a monk in his middle age, but under the influence of his great ancestor, he became a Buddhist in Beijing.

Extremely famous.

What he was talking about was the Great Prajna Sutra. Although it is a Mahayana classic, it was translated by Kumarajiva and lectured by Luojie. Therefore, the emperor did not pay attention to it, but listened with great interest.

But Li Chengzhi was drowsy, as if listening to a lullaby.

After finally finishing the lecture on Yipin (a similar chapter, lesson), and hearing the "ding" of the Buddha bell, Li Chengzhi regained some energy.

The palace concubine, the emperor, concubines, ladies, and monks presented the hot soup to soothe his throat. Yuan Ke just took a sip and put it beside the table.

When Hu Chonghua saw the presence of the old spirit Li Chengzhi, he immediately thought: "The food served in my palace is mediocre, and the cooking techniques are ordinary. It must not be to your Majesty's taste. I often hear that Your Majesty likes bean curd soup very much, and also heard about Li Shilang's tripod."

The essence of Zu is unparalleled in the world. Why not let him make a bowl?"

As soon as he heard the bean curd soup, Yuan Ke's appetite was instantly aroused. First, he didn't eat much for lunch, and second, he hadn't eaten for a long time. But there was no need for Li Chengzhi to do it himself. After all, Yuan Ke relied on him day by day, so don't say anything.

As a cook, he was rarely allowed to do even the job of serving medicine.

But I can let Li Chengzhi give me some pointers...

The emperor was about to speak, but Li Chengzhi said first: "The nobles have orders, and the lower officials should obey them. But I just don't know if there will be fish bones or other things hidden in the soup when it is served..."

Which pot is this and which one should not be opened?

The concubines and ladies looked at Li Chengzhi in shock, staring at him in disbelief.

This is clearly asking Hu Chonghua: You can't frame the queen, so you'll frame me instead, right?

Hu Chonghua's face turned green: "Let's be... unbridled..."

The emperor's face sank: "If you don't do it, you won't do it. Why are there so many weird things?"

"I am being reckless!"

Li Chengzhi stopped when he saw that he was good, "I'll go right away!"

He was really afraid of falling into Hu Chonghua's poisonous scheme: This woman was not very smart, but she had many tricks, and her methods were ruthless, and she might fall into her trap if she was not careful.

Simply point it out directly, and if there is any problem then, the emperor will not be able to blame him.

Yuan Ke felt so tired.

Not to Li Chengzhi, but to Hu Chonghua.

It's not a case of being framed. After all, the current Qingquan Palace is like an iron bucket, and Liu Teng carefully selected it. It is impossible for things like "there is a thorn in the soup" to happen as Li Chengzhi said.

But this woman most likely wanted to humiliate Li Chengzhi. After all, as a courtier, how could there be any reason to ask him to cook at every turn?

The emperor was about to say "that's all", but Li Chengzhi stopped himself.

At this time, he had arrived in the palace and walked behind Luo Jie. He seemed to be attracted by something and couldn't take his eyes away.

It looks like a book, but the whole body exudes dazzling golden light. If you look closely, the cover, scroll, etc. seem to be made of pure gold.

"May I ask the Master, what is this?"

The young monk was young, and when he heard Li Chengzhi's question, He Shiji said: "This is the Golden Sutra, and I want to present it to you, the noble man!"

"Written in real gold?"

"Tan Yue was joking, how heavy is real gold? It's just that the cover is covered with gold foil, the book's bones are made of gold, and the rest is made of high-quality mulberry paper."

Li Chengzhi was just a little suspicious.

He just saw that the color was wrong, it was faintly cyan, as if it was mixed with bronze.

But if gold is mixed with copper, it should be pink?

Li Chengzhi just thought that the monk was pretending to be fat and used copper as real gold to fool Hu Chonghua, so Li Chengzhi didn't care. Just as he was about to step forward, he accidentally saw that the monk seemed to be shaking, and his heart skipped a beat.

I just asked out of curiosity, what are you afraid of?

By the way, from beginning to end, this monk never raised his head, let alone looked at me...

Li Chengzhi stretched out his hand: "Can I take a look?"

"There is nothing you can do!"

The monk responded, picked up the scripture, and handed it to Li Chengzhi.

Kankan was still half a foot away from Li Chengzhi, and the monk suddenly raised his head.

Li Chengzhi's heart skipped a beat: He must have been secretly ruthless. The monk gritted his teeth tightly, and his facial features were almost twisted into a ball. The corners of his eyes trembled sharply, as if they were equipped with springs.

A flash of golden light lit up, and the monk opened the golden cover. Li Chengzhi felt as if he had been electrocuted, and a chill rose from his tailbone and spread throughout his limbs in an instant.

The monk took out the scroll of the book, and a bronze dagger shining with golden light came out from under the book and stabbed straight into his lower abdomen, like a poisonous snake spitting out letters.

Is there a sword hidden in the scriptures?

After eight lifetimes of bad luck, how could it be broken by yourself?

Li Chengzhi is not bad at martial arts and is very agile. If he wanted to hide, he might not be able to do so. But he turned a blind eye and instead of moving back, he stood up and faced him.

The waist knife was too long, and it was already too late. Li Chengzhi's right hand reached into his left sleeve like electricity, and in the blink of an eye he took out the short knife and stabbed it straight down. At the same time, he shouted loudly: "Protect!"

Everyone was stunned.

How could a monk who responded well suddenly turn into an assassin?

It wasn't until there was a soft sound of "chi" and a burst of blood burst out that the lady screamed.

The dagger with a blade length of six inches was stabbed straight down by Li Chengzhi. The monk had no time to hide, so he could only turn his head. But the knife was like lightning, like a butcher killing a pig, and Li Chengzhi stabbed it into the monk's neck until the handle was missing.
The tip of the monk's knife also pierced Li Chengzhi's lower abdomen. After piercing his clothes, there was only a soft ding sound and he could not get any further.

Unexpectedly, grandpa even wears armor when sleeping...

Li Chengzhi exerted a little force, and the dagger, which was only as wide as his thumb and less than a minute thick, was pulled out. He took another sharp step back, and it was faster than the blood arrow, and his body was not stained at all.

Looking back, Yuan Xi had already drawn the knife in his hand and was protecting it in front of the emperor.

At this moment, the emperor exclaimed: "Yuan Xi, save her..."

Looking back, another monk jumped out from the front row, holding a sharp thorn as thick as a chopstick in his hand, stabbing Hu Chonghua's lower abdomen.

Mrs. Hu's face was so frightened that she even forgot to scream.

Li Chengzhi really wanted to scold her.

He scolded both the emperor and Yuan Xi.

At this time, shouldn’t we care about the emperor first?

And Hu Chonghua, who is full of conspiracies and tricks, are you using them now?

Cursing in his heart, Li Chengzhi stamped his foot, like a leopard, rushing towards Yuan Ke like lightning. He raised his right arm at the same time, and the short knife in his hand flew towards the assassin as fast as lightning.
