Chapter 426 Why bother?

There are few pedestrians at dusk, and the mountains are deep in the wind and snow.

The morning dawned, and the sky was overcast. The north wind roared, and the bare tree trunks were blown up and down. The snow particles in the sky danced with the wind, swirling constantly, like wandering ghosts wreaking havoc.

The snow is falling hard, and the wind is getting stronger and stronger. The official road is covered with a thick layer of snow armor, and the carriage passing by makes a sound like broken jade.

Beside the road is the Yinxuan Temple that has been razed to the ground, with a few broken walls still remaining. A burnt black wooden beam pointed straight at the sky, much like Bai Mei pointed at Yuan Ke before he died.

That skinny and shriveled finger tells of endless unwillingness.

A white tiger flag stands on the roof of the car, making a hunting sound, and the five characters are vigorous and powerful: Tiger and Bent, Zhonglang Li.

There were five armored cavalrymen in front and behind the car. Li Rui led the way, Li Cong stood behind, and Li Liang followed the car, talking in a low voice to Li Chengzhi in the car.

"Mr. Lang, we're outside the old house!"

Li Chengzhi's deep voice came from the car: "I won't get in now, let's go to the imperial mausoleum!"

"Yes!"

Li Liang responded and raised his hand to Li Rui in front of the car. The car and its ten riders drove straight past the mansion and headed for Mang Mountain without stopping.

Although the snow was heavy, the official road was paved with sand, gravel and loess when Yuan Ke was buried, so it was extremely smooth. Moreover, the cart was pulled by two strong horses, and one of them walked very fast. After about an hour, it reached the west of the imperial city.

Jingling, about twenty miles away.

Hearing the neighing of the horses, all the soldiers guarding the mausoleum came out of their tents. Seeing the official flag fluttering in the wind, they stood respectfully by the roadside.

“I’ve met Li Zhonglang!”

"Polite!"

Li Chengzhi got out of the car and said softly, "I have a rest today, and I will come to pay homage to the late emperor. It's snowing and cold, so I don't need to bother you to wait..."

"Thank you Zhonglang for your sympathy!"

The general responded respectfully and called the guards to open the temple door.

A hundred steps ahead of the barracks, there is a temple used for sun festivals. Further ahead, there is a stone horse with a saddle and riding pedals, about ten feet high.

Behind the ancestral temple is the Jingling Mausoleum, which is more than a mile in diameter and looks like a hill.

After walking past the stone horse, Li Chengzhi stopped involuntarily.

After looking at it for a long time, he asked leisurely: "You are obviously a weak chicken, you can't even pedal, but you have to put such a big thing in front of your grave when you die? How much do you like fighting?"

Weak chicken?

Although I didn't understand the meaning of these two words, my intuition was not good. The two soldiers guarding outside the temple gate couldn't help but feel their scalps numb.

At a loss what to do, Li Liang stepped forward to greet them and stuffed a piece of copper collar into each person's hand: "If you have worked hard, go and have a rest!"

Guessing that Li Zhonglang didn't want to be disturbed, the two soldiers thanked him profusely and left quickly.

Stepping into the temple gate, in the middle is a stone tablet six feet high and more than ten feet wide, with the inscription: Mausoleum of Emperor Sejong Xuanwu, and below it is an epitaph. And there are stone tablets with such content inscribed behind the temple.

There is a two-foot-long monument, commonly known as Xusheng Monument.

"This is it!"

Li Chengzhi pointed to the monument, and Li Liang quickly moved the futon, and ordered Li Rui, Li Cong and others to light candles, burn incense, burn charcoal basins, and place some sacrifices on the altar.

After completing these arrangements, Li Liang waved his hand gently, and the guards quietly exited the temple, then closed the temple door, leaving only Li Chengzhi in the hall.

Outside the temple, the north wind whistled and whined loudly. The lights inside the temple were dim, cold and gloomy. The weak candlelight reflected on the bronze vessels, dyeing the entire temple a gloomy green.

Occasionally, a ray of cold wind blows in, and the candle flame sways gently, and countless green and eerie lights and shadows flicker rapidly, accompanied by the sound of wind like wolves, which is very much like the howling ghosts in hell.

"Is it really an image?"

Li Chengzhi chuckled softly, opened the cork, sprinkled half of the wine bag on the stone tiles in front of the futon, brought the wine bag to his mouth, and drank several gulps.

The entrance is cold, but as hot as a knife, as if there is a fire burning from the throat, reaching straight to the heart and spleen.

"But you know, I never believe this... I just feel so empty in my heart that I can't even find anyone to talk to? Furthermore, in a few days, I will lead the army to suppress the rebellion. I don't know when I will be able to return.

I just wanted to come and see you...

The king's ways are restored, the king is respected and the barbarians are repelled. The hatred of the king and the country is still restored in the ninth generation... Therefore, the court has decided: Even if it is ice and snow, and drops of water turn into ice, we will send troops to avenge you...

But those who could be used were either old and weak, sick or disabled, or cunning. After counting, I seemed to be the most suitable, so I took the initiative to ask for this hard job...

The Queen Mother did not allow it, and Yuan Jia and Gao Zhao also strongly opposed it, saying that Yuan Ying was old and seriously ill. Once I left, the palace ban would be suspended, which was not a long-term solution. But Yuan Cheng, Yuan Ying, Yuan Yi and others strongly agreed.<

The remaining three said they were only good at literary affairs and not good at military formations, so they dared not comment... There was a stalemate for a while, so I asked: Apart from me, who else can be sent to ensure that they will not be defeated by Yuan Huai, Yuan Yong and Yu Zhong?

Instigating rebellion?

Haha, did you know that at that time, everyone’s faces turned green from the Queen Mother on down?

Especially Yuan Jia and Gao Zhao... The two old men and their father originally agreed that they would let me get married after New Year's Day. But once the war started, God knows how long it will last?

But I have to do something, otherwise I always feel unhappy. Since avenging you is also avenging me, I naturally do my part...

It's up to you to leave a legacy saying, "After my death, I will take off my clothes after my burial and not mourn him (keep my filial piety)"? But that's right. Without your legacy, how could I have the guts to sit in front of your tomb and drink?
Well, you should drink a little too... If I had known you were going to die so soon, I shouldn't have advised you to stop drinking, because it would have cost you a lot of fun..."

Li Chengzhi's tone was soft and soft, as if Yuan Ke was sitting next to him. He raised the wine bag and took several sips.

The wind seemed to have calmed down, and the ghostly cries like howling wolves could no longer be heard. Only the soft sounds of "rustling" and "puffing" could be heard. It should be that the candlelight in the hall warmed the top of the temple and melted the snow on the bottom. From the temple

The ridge slid down.

"Acquaintance blossoms like rain, don't let the snow stir up the wind. Remembering old friends by relying on monuments, everything is in vain... How can you leave just like that?"

He sighed softly and took a small sip.

The wine was very strong, but Li Chengzhi didn't notice it. His eyes were as deep as the stars, staring at Yuan Ke's tombstone quietly, with thousands of thoughts floating in his heart.

The temple was silent, except for a few breezes that occasionally leaked in, tilting the candle flames and blowing the veil under the power fence (a gauze hat used to block wind and snow).

The black gauze fluttered, and a few strands of silver threads flew up in the wind, blowing on Li Chengzhi's face.

"Mr. Lang?"

There was silence in the temple for a long time. Li Liang was worried and called softly.

"No problem!"

Li Chengzhi responded and raised the wine bag again: "To this day, I feel like I'm dreaming: Are you really dead?

Do you know what this means: history has been rewritten because of you, and this change is eternal? Haha... It's amazing... It's really amazing, you are better than Qin Shihuang...

I don’t know how history will go, and what step it will take? But since this is the case, we can’t just muddle along and wait for death? Therefore, I can only feel sorry for you and your trust..."

With a sigh of regret, Li Chengzhi tilted the wine bag, poured some on the ground, and brought it to his mouth: "What's more, there are so many people who need me to be worthy of them?"

He raised the wine bag high until there was no drop left. Li Chengzhi tossed it casually, stood up again, and bowed deeply to the tombstone: "So, please rest in peace!"

With a "Woo" sound, the wind that had been silent for a long time suddenly became stronger, as if Yuan Ke heard Li Chengzhi's words and was responding.

"Haha... If you really want to know something, why don't you rain down a winter thunder and kill those bastards Yuan Huai?"

While smiling, Li Liang knocked on the door gently: "Mr. Lang, Minister Gao is here. He said that he was summoned to the palace by order of the Queen Mother..."

Queen Mother?

Li Chengzhi sighed leisurely, and then cupped his hands towards the tombstone: "Your mother-in-law has been summoned, so she left first. When the class teacher wins, I will come to see you..."

After saying that, he bowed again and walked out of the temple unhurriedly.

As soon as the temple door opened, the aroma of wine overflowed. Gao Zhan was putting incense in the cauldron outside the temple door and smelled it clearly.

Looking at Li Chengzhi's blushing cheeks and smell of alcohol all over his body, Gao Zhan's heart was filled with mixed emotions.

Li Chengzhi actually drank with a dead man and was already half drunk?

One can imagine how serious his thoughts are?

"The Queen Mother is discussing with the Chief Assistant, Taiwei and others about sending troops, so she ordered me to summon you!"

"Well, let's go then!"

Li Chengzhi nodded and walked towards the carriage.

Looking at the desolate back, Gao Zhan hesitated to speak, and finally let out a long sigh.

The snow has indeed gotten a lot heavier, and the sky and the earth are all the same color. If it weren’t for the lanterns hanging on the palace city, I might have gotten lost.

The snow on the road was too thick. Halfway through the journey, Li Chengzhi simply abandoned the car and rode a horse instead.

Even so, after walking for an hour when I arrived, it was more than double when I returned. By the time we entered the imperial city, it was already You hour, the sky had darkened, and it was already almost night.

Either they are old or terminally ill, and they cannot bear to sit for long periods of time. Yuan Cheng, Yuan Jia, Yuan Ying and other senior ministers cannot wait for Li Chengzhi all the time. By this time, they had already dispersed, and Gao Zhao was the only one accompanying Gao Zhao in the Zhaoyang Palace.

English.

Gao Zhan went in first and reported, and then Li Chengzhi entered.

There was no time to change, so Li Chengzhi was still wearing the casual clothes he had worn when he entered the mountain. However, he had already taken off his cloak and hood. His long hair, which was mixed with black and white, was bundled in a bunch, like black satin covered with snow, or like silver thread dyed with ink.

A pair of drunken eyes are blurred, seeming to be open and closed. The cheeks are powdered, and they are in a state of contentment.

He seemed to have no roots under his feet. After several swings, Li Chengzhi finally managed to stand firm and bowed his head: "I have met the Queen Mother!"

Thinking of what Gao Zhan said when he returned to his life: Li Chengzhi was talking to himself in front of His Majesty's mausoleum and drank alone for an hour... Is he obviously drunk?

Gao Ying's eye circles suddenly turned red, and big tears rolled down like beads: "You... why are you doing this?"

Li Chengzhi smiled slightly: "I'm not bitter!"
