Chapter 1 Elm Pass

Shanhaiguan was called Yuguan, also known as Yuguan, and Linlu Pass in ancient times. In the 14th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty, Zhongshan King Xu Da was ordered to build Yongping, Jieling and other passes. Shanhaiguan was created here because it is adjacent to Yanshan Mountain in the north and Bohai Sea in the south.

Hence the name Shanhaiguan.

In the second year of Qianlong's reign during the Qing Dynasty, the name was changed to Linyu County.

Linyu County belonged to Yongping Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty, and the territory included Lulong County, Funing County, Changli County, Yongpingwei, and Shanhaiwei. The county implemented the lijia system, and li was also called a community or a village. The local residents were organized into communities and moved here

In the Qing Dynasty, the Ming system was followed, and it belonged to Yongping Prefecture of Zhili Province, with jurisdiction over Lulong, Funing, and Changli counties. In the second year of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, Linyu County was added to Shanhaiguan.

"The Unification of the Qing Dynasty? Yongping Prefecture? Linyu County" has recorded: "Qinhuangdao is twenty-five miles southwest of Linyu County, one mile into the sea, and surrounded by water on all sides. It is said that Qin Shihuang once stayed here."

In the 21st year of Qianlong's reign, "Linyu County Chronicles and Historic Sites" recorded: "Qinwang Island is twenty-five miles southwest of the city and surrounded by sea water. It is said that Qin Shihuang stayed here to seek immortality."

The "Linyu County Chronicle" written in the fourth year of Guangxu's reign has many and detailed descriptions of Qinhuangdao: "Qinwangdao is twenty-five miles southwest of the city. The mountains turn from east to west and plunge into the sea, pressing across the water. From a distance, it looks like a lying silkworm.

There is Guanyin Temple on Shuikou Mountain in Haiyang Town."

Shanhaiguan is the northeast starting point of the Great Wall of the Ming Dynasty. It covers 26 kilometers of the Great Wall and is located more than 10 kilometers east of Qinhuangdao City. According to historical records, Shanhaiguan has a history of more than 600 years since it was built in 1381 AD.

Military town.

The city of Shanhaiguan is a small city with a circumference of about 4 kilometers. The entire city is connected to the Great Wall and uses the city as a gateway. The city is 14 meters high and 7 meters thick. There are four main gates in the city and a variety of ancient defensive buildings.

, is a city gate with a relatively complete defense system.

It is known as "One Pass". It takes the majestic "First Pass in the World" Arrow Tower as the main body, supplemented by Jingbian Tower, Linlu Tower, Muying Tower, Weiyuan Hall, Wengcheng, Dongluo City, Great Wall Museum and other Great Wall buildings.

The most famous thing is the huge plaque with golden characters written on it.

There is another allusion to this plaque.

According to legend, more than five hundred years ago, Emperor Chenghua of the Ming Dynasty personally issued a decree to hang a large plaque titled "The First Pass in the World" on the Shanhaiguan Gate Tower.

At that time, the person guarding Shanhaiguan was a director of the Ministry of War. After receiving the imperial edict, he immediately sent people to climb the archery tower, measured the dimensions, and asked a carpenter to make a huge plaque that was eight feet long and five feet wide.

Now that the plaque is ready, who can I find to write it?

The head of the Ministry of War discussed with his subordinates for a day and a night, and finally remembered a person. This person's surname was Xiao Mingxian. He was born in the second rank of Jinshi. He had served as a minister in Fujian Province and was good at calligraphy. In recent years, he resigned due to old age and returned home to Shanhaiguan to find work.

The next morning, the head of the Ministry of War visited Xiao's house in person and explained his intention. Xiao Xian pondered for a long time before nodding in agreement. However, he proposed that writing such words should not be rushed or rushed, so the head of the Ministry of War had no choice but to agree.

More than twenty days passed in the blink of an eye, and there was no news. The head of the Ministry of War asked his men to prepare several things: a few pieces of silk and grosgrain, a few large brush pens, and sent a confidant to deliver them to Xiao Xian. It didn't take long to give gifts.

The man came back and reported: "Mr. Xiao is practicing Kung Fu in a side courtyard. He gets up early every day and plays with a long pole in the courtyard every day."

The head of the Ministry of War didn't understand what this had to do with writing. He didn't care, he had already been waiting for so many days, so let's wait some more.

More than twenty days passed, but there was still no movement. The head of the Ministry of War asked his subordinate Hu to prepare some fine Hui ink and rice paper, and sent his trusted aide to bring the things to Xiao's house. The gift-giver came back and reported: "Mr. Xiao is here."

Poems were recited in the room, reciting something about "flowing down three thousand feet," "like the Milky Way falling into the sky," "coming like thunder and gathering wrath," and "just like the blue light of the river and sea..."

The head of the Ministry of War was very surprised when he heard it, so he asked, "What did he say when he saw the gift?"

"He said he can write it in another month." The servant replied hastily.

The head of the Ministry of War didn't quite understand what he said, but he finally had a deadline, so just wait. But he never expected that the next day he would receive an urgent letter from the Ministry of War, saying that the new governor of Jiliao, acting on behalf of the emperor, wanted to

I came to Shanhaiguan to inspect the hanging of the plaque and expected to arrive within three days. This made the director of the Ministry of War very anxious, and he immediately had someone carry the wooden plaque and a jar of ink to Xiao's house.

When I arrived at Xiao's house, I exchanged greetings and told Xiao Xian about the urgent message from the Ministry of War. Xiao Xian was also a man of officialdom, so he did not hesitate and took action immediately. I saw him, holding a pen and going back and forth in front of the plaque.

As he walked, he looked at it, nodded for a while, laughed for a while; suddenly, he stopped, concentrated and held his breath, and began to write.

I saw him writing like a rock falling from a mountain, and taking off like a flying swallow plundering. Some were fast, some were slow, some were steady, and some were accurate. His pen went with him. After a while, the five characters "The First Pass in the World" were written.

The head of the Ministry of War hurriedly handed over his hands and thanked him.

Xiao Xiandao: "I originally wanted to spend a month reading ancient poems and cultivating my temperament, but unfortunately, the time is too short."

The head of the Ministry of War quickly said: "This is already very good, already very good."

The next morning, the head of the Ministry of War ordered someone to hang the big plaque on the archery tower, and at the same time entertained Xiao Xian at the "Yue Xin Zhai" restaurant under the archery tower. After three drinks, the guests and hosts leaned on the railing to look up, and Xiao Xian discovered that "down"

There are a little fewer words.

At this time, the general report to Governor Ji Liao had already crossed the Shihe River, and it was too late to return to the mansion to pick up a pen and go upstairs to write more. What should I do?

Xiao Xian was so anxious that he immediately ordered the boy to study the ink. He grabbed a piece of tablecloth from the waiter's hand, soaked it with ink, and threw it towards the plaque on the archery tower with all his strength. There was only a "ba" sound,

The ink cloth happened to fall on the lower right corner of the word "下", filling in the "dot". Everyone congratulated the color in unison, and praised in unison: "Master Xiao's divine pen, divine pen!"

Since then, the huge plaque of the first pass in the world has become famous all over the world.

There is also a huge plaque with the title "The First Pass in the World", which is said to have been inscribed by Yan Song, the treacherous prime minister of the Ming Dynasty. However, perhaps because Yan Song was notorious, it was rarely mentioned in history. Now this plaque is

The Japanese looted and plundered Tokyo and displayed them publicly.

Since ancient times, Shanhaiguan has been a battleground for military strategists, with frequent wars and constant wars.

Shanhaiguan in 1932 was destined not to be peaceful.

…………

This battle is an introduction to Shanhaiguan. I quite like the legend in the article, so I borrow it. I hope my friends will bear with it and don’t mind.
